I had appeared for CAT'07 and have scored 87.22 %le 
(as it was one bad day).
Now I plan to appear for SPJAT to improve my score as I think if I get a better score in SPJAT the chances of my profile getting shortlisted will be higher.
Also I have a work ex of around 27 months in IT field.
I wanted to ask you whether a high GMAT/CAT/SPJAT score plays an imp. role in the final selections.For eg, whether a guy with a score of arnd 95 be preffered over another with a score of arnd 85 (lets assume they have everything else in common..equivalent wrk ex. etc.)
Also, what do you suggest for me- shall I appear for SPJAT or no need?
Please advice.

i had a score of 95.6 in cat'06...iv given cat this yr and it didnt go too well...although i mite get above 90 stil i wud prefer to apply wid my cat'06 score....also id appiled in spj, mumbai where iv mentioned my this yrs cat reg no..now the spj dubai form asks for the spj, mumbai appln no which in turn gives u access to my cat'07 score...is thr a way in which i can specify my cat'06 score...or is it tht u wil look at both n take the best??

Your profile seems fine to apply - however you may pls apply to the stream of your choice and interest not in the one which you think you have higher chances of getting admission.

No practical or working knowledge of Finance.
I have gone through the resume of existing student of Finance (IB), and what I saw was that only one maybe 2 candidates are there having similar profile as mine.
Do you think based on your observation of past records, that applying for IB reduces my chance of not even being considered for GD/PI round? Or for that matter even a call to attend SPJAT.
I was thinking if that is the case that my profile is not suitable, what do you think. Shall I apply in marketing ? I mean I got PMM as my second preference, will that increases my chance for call?

well you havent mentioned your undergraduate degree scores ( of ALL years) maybe it wasnt a first class...that could be one of the reasons
Im afraid you cannot access your form for the Jan 08 intake. You would have to apply afresh if you wish to be considered for the May 08 intake. The applications have started since Dec 23rd 07 for the May 08 intake

In two week`s time I would be travelling to UK on a project assignment for 4 months. In such a situation, Can I request for telephonic interview in lieu of personal interview. I have achievements and extracurricular at college and school level only. Does it have weightage?
If I apply online than is it like that I need to submit the evaluation and aptitude fees after being shortlisted?
Do I need to apply separately for SPJAT test?
WEll in your case you dont need to take the SPJAT as your CAT score meets our cut off of 80% ile.
the score is looked at only while shortlisting a candidate - after you have been through evaluations we will look at other factors before selecting a candidate.

I cannot comment on your chances as that is the decision of the Admission Commitee.
they would look at your academics as well apaprt from the GMAT score and work ex

I believe the SPAT is somewhere around MID FEB, as i enquired on phone, but before that my application status will be out correct ? as i have applied in last week of december itself.
