Official Thread for CA, ACS, CWA

As per my limited knowledge, articleship @ Big4 firms can give you respectable stipend . But i am not sure whether Big4 give articleship to CS students as well. Gap doesnt matter in CA; provided you pass the exams. If a single mother can achieve merit @ CA exams, i dont see any reason why you can't earn and learn at the same time.

If the gap is a problem, you can go for CPA(USA); but that's mighty expensive.

Best thing would be go for CA and articleship @ Big4 firm.

@sushant1002001 Thank you Sushant for the suggestions, i appreciate it!
but wt i meant is, i am already 23 year old now and to complete the stages of becoming a CA It will take 4 more years, i will be 28 then.. so my query was whether I should take up CA at this stage?

more queries:
1. Are children of defense personnel exempted from fees? (please advise)
2. Is taking up CS-company secretary a good choice, its job opportunities are less i have heard and moreover, we can not get into fortune 500 companies...? (please clarify ...)

Going for it or not is ur personal decision. And chances of you getting a job @ Fortune 500 Cos depends on you no of attempts,marks,etc......

I dont think, there's any exemption as such. Do contact respective institutes.

Hi,

I am very knew to this thread, and also a CA, by profession and an MBA aspirant.

Just to answer your ques.
1) No, there is no such category, even is there would have been, its already a very very cheap (monetary terms), not expensive at all. may be 30k, at max. for the total duration.

2)Getting /not getting in Fortune 500 co., should not be a matter of concern for, you i understand that you want to get into a GOOD company, by all means, being a CA/CA/CFA anything doesnt guarantee it.
CS is restricted in perception, the mkt perception of CS is restricted to only company law.
However CA has wider acceptance. and even the course content of CS is more focoused on law than accounting/tax.

P.S : Personal view, might be contradictory to others, however open to +ve criticism.

Despite being a CA; i would advise a person(if a class 12 passout) to go for CWA (better to do CA+CWA)......That's because of the inaction or in stronger terms callousness by CA institute to revamp the system to improve brand CA.......while CWA , sorry CMAs are progressing by leaps and bounds....

Dont go for CS (my apologies for all CS guys/gals).

But in Priyanka's case, CA is the best option......regarding the relevance of the opportunity costs.

Indian Air force is inviting applications from CAs (Age 20-27) for the "ground duties".

Gist for Male CAs:

Monthly package: Rs 52444/- excluding other military perks and benefits

- furnished Accomodation

- Insurance

- 60 days of leave+20 days extra Casual Leave

Exam date:24 Feb 2013

For all those CAs, who think Air force is very risky, let me assure you ; that your postings shall not be in such places where u can't live with ur families (Life in Air force is easier than that of Army and Navy). As a CA, you will be managing the finances of the branch and in later stage of the Air force.

Better to serve the nation; rather than staying at home idle cursing ICAI (abt campus placements)

nahi yaar.......it's on the lines of ONGC exams.....i guess, u can get the mock papers, syllabus online.cheers

can someone throw light on CA placements please...with regard to salaries and type of companies...thank you..

Tax deduction on mediclaim premium has been increased to Rs 20,000. Unless companies start offering mediclaim polices to senior citizens, the budget announcement offering tax exemption on medical insurance for senior citizens has no meaning. What is the solution?

Hi everyone,

I am little confused about my further studies and hence need guidance...Here is my profile which is below average.

10th- 50% cbse (2003)
12th- 66% cbse (2005)commerce
Grad- 42% B.comp Delhi univ.(correspondence) (2009)
Grad repeated- 73% B.com Pass (correspondence from tier3 univ.) (2012)

Work ex- small family garment business 3 years( but b schools wont consider it.)

I have taken CAT this year but didnt get any fruitful result, now i am little double minded weather to do a professional study like CA or continue with CAT prep for coming season.

I know both are very succesful degree/certificates ..but few negative things that are coming to my mind considering my week profile.

MBA- Even if i get call from good colleges in the coming season how will i convert them with this profile, more over since both my graduations were in correspodence they will consider it as no work ex though i joined my family business later.

CA- Mandatory internship for 3 years with less than 5k salary per month. Also this is the minimum that to be a CA it can take 4 or 5 years to if i dont clear it in my 1st attempt.

At present my age is 25, so even age is also not in my side.

So kindly help me seniors, people who have gone through this, people who are at similar condition or anyone.

Thanks in advance.
