Hello aspirants!! We are the current (2016-18) student batch of IIMB PGPEM - 22-month weekend residential management programme. It is a masters level diploma granting programme offered by the IIMB. We welcome you to post your queries/discussion topics about this course and we will try our best to help. All the very best!!
The urge to evolve into a true leader was my key driver to prepare for this program. PGPEM as the name suggests stands for ‘post graduate program in enterprise management’ and it’s a diploma granting program with a course duration of 22 months and all this while you continue to work. It was a commercially viable solution to my urge for education at this stage of my career when I was above the 10 year mark in total experience and yet wanted to get a formal management education to excel in my future roles. Pre Exam: The application process commences around Aug-Sep timeframe and the last date to submit the filled applications is around Jan 2nd the next year. To be specific for 2016 admissions, I submitted the application in Sep 2015 and last date was 01Feb 2016.
The selection process has two options: CAT/GMAT/GRE- Option 1 IIM B Test- Option 2 I took option 2 and I would elaborate more on what I exactly did to prepare for this. I purchased some online video classes from CETKING for revising CAT quantitative syllabus and then solved few previous years papers of CAT and solves sample papers from the Pearson guide ( Nishit K Sinha) . I focused a lot on DI as I was told by previous aspirants that DI is the key focus.
Exam: The exam has two sections Part A- Verbal Ability 30 questions (mix of comprehension and sentence correction) Difficulty level- Low Part B- Quantitative Ability 10 Questions on general quant – Geometry, number systems, profit loss etc 10 questions on a single puzzle – very tough and complicated 10 Questions on DI – 4 graphs were given and all 10 questions were based on one of those 4 graphs or had to be interpreted from more than 1 graph. This section was tough and you need to master number approximations to do this piece well. Overall difficulty level of Quant was moderate and I felt one should do quant first and then English so that you can improve accuracy level. There was sufficient space for rough work , hence you can conveniently do calculations right under the question.
Interview : In exactly 3 days’ time post the IIM B test , I got the letter for interview which was scheduled about 1.5 weeks away . They had asked an employer letter to be signed before coming for the interview which was easy in my case as I had already discussed this with my superiors. My interview lasted for 45 mins , with three people in the panel ( 2 profs and 1 alumni) It was a grilling conversation with lot of questions on what I know about the course, what subject I would take as an elective, why MBA now, what is my current companies share price and how the stocks fluctuate, do I know anything about SMAC, what is cloud and how is works for SAAS ( I had a basic SaaS background which was mentioned in my SOP). They asked me if I read management books, name one such book and what was your key take away from that book. I am into presales role in my current workplace, hence they asked what kind of meetings do I have with customers, are they business users / decision makers and how do I handle such conversations. Do I understand the rigor of the course and how would you manage work with this course. Overall I was not hopping this will have a positive outcome because I fumbled in many places and in some I did not give up and tried my best to prove my point. They were looking for a basic achievement orientation and the capacity to sustain pressured conversations which I think I was able to prove.
Selection: I got a letter on my final selection within 9 days of the interview and to top it all I was given a scholarship which was mentioned as an outcome of my interview performance bundled with my overall profile. Classes begin on 15th April , 2016 and I have completed my admission formalities by paying the quarterly term fees . There are finance options available for those who are interested. 3-4 months of preparation followed with some resilience and a strong ambition to excel is what was my key ingredient to succeed in this whole process. To all aspirants it’s a recommendation, start thinking you have already made it, this feeling should show during your interview and only then you cross that hurdle. They try to select people from diverse backgrounds and hence if you are from non IT industry, you stand a better chance.

What are the best sources to study for IIMB test?
Has anybody got the Interview call?
Hello everyone, I have got a call letter for the Personal Interview & Written ability test on Feb 25th. Could someone give me an idea on what various topics (Essays/Busines solutions) can we expect on written ability tests?
Hi. I took up the IIMB test for PGPEM 2017-2019 on Feb 5th 2017. I have received an intervew call scheduled for Feb 26th. The interview call e-mail says it is going to be " Personal interview/Written Abitlity Test". I am from automotive engineering background with 7 years of experience. What can I expect from the interview round in general and what about the written ability test ? I am not aware of what this test is all about. I would appreciate if someone can give some leads. Thanks!
Are the results out for the Feb 05th iimb test? Would they send interview invites in phases or is it sent already to all the shortlisted candidates?
The people who applied with CAT scores have also received the interview call?
Hi everyone, what kind of accomodation is provided to the PGPEM students for Friday night? Can the accomodation be used on Saturday nights too?
Now that the interviews are done, time to sit back and wait for the results. Meanwhile, I have a question on the aspect of banks financing the programme . For a programme like PGPEM, do banks fund the full programme fee? And when does one have to start paying back?
when will the final results be out ?
are the results out?
where can we see the result ....any link?
What are the chances of Waitlisted candidates getting a call?
