PI-I was the last one to go for the interview.

3 panelists.1 of them was about 60. Rest were 34-35

P1-Introduce yourself?

Me-answered

P2-Give the binary and octal equivalent of 5005.

Me-answered

P2-Ok..write the equation of a circle and find its maxima

Me-answered

P2-write a 5 X 5 unit matrix and find its rank ,pivot and transpose

Me-(didnt have a clue about pivot)wrote the transpose

P3- (to P1)Sir mathematics is his comfort zone He is from JU engineering..ask some thing else.

P3-what is Cash to income ratio?

Me-(wtf)no clue

P3-what is CSR?

Me-.....

P3-what global crysis occured in 2009 and what impact it had in India?

Me-I dont know sir.

P3 asked some more questions on IT in banking sector and had an expression in is face as "tumse na ho payega beta".

P1-What other calls you have?

Me-answered.

P3-where do you stay?

WAT PI EXPERIENCE : DATE - 1st March, 2017. WAT TOPIC : Immigration is ought to be included in Human Rights. Time given :20 mins, space- 3/4th of a page. PI : Two panelists. One (P1) above 60 years, P2 around 45-50. Total time : 15 mins. P1 : You have such good grades in 10 12, you are working in such a big company and in a good role too. Why do you wanna leave your job? Me : want to learn about management.... P1: Tell me about your hobbies. Me : Music, guitarist , vocalist........ P1 : what work do you do in PWC? Me : Tech consulting, testing...... (P1 still not convinced why I wanted to leave my current job.) P1: What is Power Engineering? What do they teach you there? Me: explained. Now enters P2, all this while he was observing me closely. P2 : You know about the role of Power Grid? Me: Yes sir they decide the power ratings and how much power the power plants need to send.... Cuts me in between. P2: You're taking in layman's terms, be more specific to Engineering. You are a Power Engineer, you should be knowing about these. Me: Tried to give some answer, he wasn't much satisfied. P2: Tell me about the problems a typical Power supplier faces. Me : Told some examples. P2 : What is the risk of implementing power grids over open areas in villages? Why are villagers against this? They should be happy right they will be getting electricity. What's the fudge about then? Me: Did not have much clue, said something, but not specific enough. P2 to P1:Sir you want to ask anything? P1 : No I'm done. P2 : What is your Cat percentile? What other calls you have? Me : 95.32, Only MDI sir. P1 and P2 together : Okk Thank you. Overall Expectations : They seemed impressed with my acads and job profile, but I flunked in the technical questions. What are your thoughts?

I guess you know specifications about WAT by now.

P1- Quickly Introduce yourself.

Me- ....

P1- So, you are still in TCS? What is your role ?

Me- Said...

P1- So what do you mean by telecommucication?

Me- said

P1- Why exactly the word tele is used?

Me- No idea...I do not know but if I guess..might be for telephone..but I do not know about this

(Laughs)

P1 - What training hae you done in BSNL?

Me - Said..then he asked couple technical questions from that.. of which I could answer one only

P1- What is the full form of BSNL?

Me- Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited ...He gave an expression like ..you are such a stupid and asked me  ..are you really sure? - Yes.

Asked some curent job profile related questions..

P2- Why MBA?

Me- Answered.

P3 (who was just sitting idle till now)- Why don't you guys say that you just want high salary..?

Me- Justified....while doing so I glorified MBA little bit more than it deserved :)

P3- Have you heard the name of Henry Ford? Ratan Tata? How many MBA degrees do they have?? You seem to think it is necessary to have an MBA for success in the corporate world

Me- Agreed with him ...added some more points

P1- What is GSM Frquency?

Me- Answered but not convincing..was not sure it was Mhz or Khz..my bad

P1- What is CDMA?

Me- Explained

P1- Questions about telecomm market

Me- Answered to the best of my knowledge

P3- How many other calls do you have?

Me- Only VGSOM

Can anyone tell me what exactly is the resume to carry for jthe interview?

Is it only me or the space provided for the written ability test was extremely short (3/4th of a single sheet)... :( In the end, I could only come up with 190 - 200 words (because of my handwriting) for the same and my WAT didn't go that well although my PI went well :/

WAT topic-Politics and business should not be kept exclusive


PI( a panel of 3)


Started on a usual note with mandatory "Tell me about yourself" question.

Then one of the panelists started asking technial questions mostly related to my engineering subjects(a lot of detailed and cross questioning followed).

After he is done,one of the other panelists took over with questions on finacial terms like banking and stock markets.

Then the remaining one(an alumnus) came up with personality based questions,gave me an imaginary situation and asked how would I react to it.


PI lasted for about 20 mins and went along the same lines even for other panels as well.Mathematics and engineering concepts are being stressed upon quite a lot than expected in a MBA interview


PS for people who want to know exact qns being asked

I have done my engineering with ECE as specialisation

So most of the technical qns were about communications.

They asked me to choose a subject and I went with analog communications.

qns followed--name at least one author of the book you read in those 4 years

explain me amplitude modulation in layman terms and give me the exact mathematical representations and also draw the necessary graphs.

Give me noise distribution

If input is x(t) passing through filter with impulse function h(t) and noise signal be y(t) give me the output depicting the relations b/w them and also what is convolution.


Other qns were like 

what is bank rate and repo rate(in between inflation came up and I was asked about it as well),what is SENSEX?

your 3 best qualities and depending upon the answer,that imaginary question was based
