Ref: TCS offer of employment to yourself.
In order to equip you for an enriching career in the IT industry, TCS has planned to start your Initial Learning Programme (ILP)
from 20th June '05atHyderabad.
Detailed ILP joining letter will be sent to you today.
Please make your travel arrangements to Hyderabad well in advance. Travel expenses are to be borne by you.
Accommodation will be arranged by TCS during your Initial Learning Programme and the rent towards the same would be
deducted from your HRA. Accommodation will be a available to you from one day prior to the ILP date. Please note that
during the ILP, your stay at the TCS arranged location (hostel or hotel) is a must.
Joining Instructions
Participants of the Initial Learning Programme (ILP) are advised to have a basic idea of the following topics in order to cope with the courses covered in the programme.
- Computer Organisation and Architecture
- Data Structures / Algorithms
- Knowledge of Unix environment
- Coding using any high level programming language (preferably, Java)
For those of you who have not had any formal education in these areas during your academic programme, it will be helpful if you are prepared by way of self-study or otherwise. Some of the books that you could refer are:

Fundamentals of Datastructures
- E. Horowitz & S. Sahni, Galgotia (1983)

An Integrated Approach to Software Engineering (2nd Edition)

Or any other books that cover the above mentioned topics. If you have personal copies of the above or any other relevant book you can bring them along for reference during ILP.

Hi guys ... well i m from NSIT ( DCE ) ECE and i m also waiting for my joining date. Most probably will be sent to Hyderabad... as our seniors were also sent there.

. i myself went with same attitude to prepare for CAT but believe i didn even touched any stuff there that give an atleast illusion of CAT prep....However there was one guy with us who prepared n didn go with us on any weekend tours ,,no parties ..no late night talks ...no Truth n Dares ..No Dance Parties ...No hostel singing competitions ...................He got into IIM -B !!!
He must be happy n i m happy for him but at same time i m also happy for myself for having such a wonderful time over there n preparing rather this year 😃

Well you put a stamp to waht i was thinking. Because of this gospel i dont intend to prepare for CAT this year... maybe i will prepare for CAT 06...

i 2 have been selected by tcs on campus n am waiting 4 the call-letter.rt. now we r clueless here that when n where the training will be held.some guys of a nearby coll have got the letter asking them 2 join from 16th at pune.as with others i am giving cat this year on any count.
hey,i don't have my birth-certificate due 2 some reasons.i've always used my class 10 certificates 2 validate my date of birth.wouldn't it do at any cost?

Imp: Do take ur original Birth Certificate. Class X passing certificate will not be treated as the birth certificate.

n 1 more thing,we weren't told to get our passports ready n i've found out that there r many current tcs-ers who still haven't got a passport.but,still rumours abound that we shud have our passports ready.so how genuine is that?

i was campus recruited in jun 2004 by TCS bangalore
yesterday i went for my pre employment medical checkup...
I passed all the tests but discovered to my utter astonishment that I AM COLORBLIND!
they had a doubt so they called me again today for a re checkup for eyes by an eye specialist...
she gave me 36 slides( the ones with colored dots) to find out numbers, patterns, or color trails and i could read only 9 out of 36...
she said she is going to report me as color blind and also told me that the TCS norm is at least half the total slides shown should be clearly read...
i pleaded with her but to no avail....
An appeal to all ex-TCSers and would be joining ones....
Please tell me if TCS will reject me for this damn colorblindness thing or not( By the way i have worked in TCS delhi itself as a project trainee for 6 months without any problems due to damn colorblindness!!!)
Please if anyone has ever faced this? Help me... this is the only job i had....
my happiness is screwed...
ALso please tell whether Infosys and Wipro also have color blindness test in their medical check up....
Am i even eligible for the Software industry!!

i would like to know if we are allowed to have computers(desktops or laptops) in our rooms..the rooms which will be provided tro us during the training period...and if it varies across the different training centres...

i m rajul from MBM Engg college,jodhpur.i m also joining TCS this yr.
most probs our joining is on 20th july at triv.we hv nt got the cal letter yet but our TPO spoke to those ppl regarding this.
i took cat 04,ended up wid 96.7%ile bt no final cals :huh: :huh:
will prep again for cat 05 UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES.

I had done my training in nov 2004 in chennai.
first of all chennai also was really fun experience..it basically depends on you...whether you want to have fun or not...had a blast there..
.It was like a paid holiday!!
and no life is not hell for non cs students. i am a non cs person .....and yes the info about chennai training center being closed is right...infact we were the last batch!!.
But the chennai training center was managed by tcs faculty ...so it was good...I think now , other than triv all training centres are managed by CMC n believe me guys they make you work really hard...so people going to triv might have more fun than the others.....!

. Just now i tried to locate it in the MAP.
Umm, as others i was a bit frustated since its 1600 kms away and
being only a small city. But, i have got the company of my college mates

I have received joining date as 11th July at Trivandrum. But the problem is that I am still in my final sem of MCA where along with project work we have 3 theory papers. So it would be difficult for me to produce the final sem cerificates before the end of ILP as mentioned in joining letter. If the joining date was in August it would have been good. So, I have asked for extension. Please advice on this matter.

Hiya guys me 2 waitin for dates,im from KCT coimbatore.i called up TCS mumbai they asked me for the ref no. on the offer letter and told me the date(Oct 31st).I guess all cs students will go to trivandrum.
i also heard that durin trainin there is a special bonus of rs.5000 if u r able to clear one of the subjects(s/w engg by roger presman) in one attempt.also that no students frm the same college will b in the same batch.trainin is only for 45 days and not 3 months or whatever.......
