hi, every one, i have a little query about career. i have a gap of six years in b/w my scholling and graduation, because my father forced me to leave my studies in b/w and start working because my step mother do not want me to study further.so i starrt working .in those six years i work in hotels shops, dabaas, and stuff like that, now i seprated from my father now i want to do regular M.B.A. so please tell is i facing a probleum in future to get admisssion in to good b-school or getting a good job and please tell me the various institutes names which i have to opt for..
As long as you can convincingly explain your story...and of course, crack the entrance tests, the interviews etc...in theory there shouldn't be a problem.
You haven't explained the details of your end objective for pursuing an MBA. I'm guessing you want to move into regular corporate roles. If that's the case, have you looked at other focussed options, apart from the broadbased MBA?
There might be many alternatives that are easier to 'manage' (from an admissions, workload, commitment, placement, cost perspective) and these focussed courses (like technical certifications) may lead you to your objective...getting a good job.

firstly, why wud u want to become a chartered accountant/cost accountant after ur engineering graduation? it makes sense to go in for an MBA! articleship is basically an internship wherein you do core finance/accounting work. work-ex in an IT firm will definitely not make up for ur internship that way. hope that helps!!

Hi folks...m really interested in gmat...i don know how to go bout it...also m kinda confused bout this site...i wanna go for 1 yr MBA...have cleared my CA...have no work ex...suggest something...
Dude with no workex your only options are ISB (though very tough) and Great lakes
Most 1 year couses in India and abroad prefer atleast 5 years of work experience. The companies that come for recruiting 1year mbas generally look at middle level managers and donot prefer freshers.
So i suggest you either work for a few years and then try or try a 2 year course.

Without workex and a 2 year gap, u'll have a lot of explanation to do in your interview...........again why are u predicting that you won't get a job for the next 1 year, be optimistic yar, in the worst case join an NGO where you can do some productive work.
I can't comment on your current job-offer....can u elaborate what u'r role will be? If its a pure-call center type job, its a waste but if its something like inside sales or telephone support, u never know it could turn out to be good.

Any work experience is worth having...........delloite is a fantastic brand name.
To Going for MBA or not has to be your own decession, it depends completely on what you want to do in life. There is no harm in joining the company and simultaneously trying MBA entrances.
Hi All, I guess I am in a midlife crisis and need some help to decide what would be the best for me. I did lot's of Googling and though PG is mainly a portal for MBA aspirants. I hope to get my answers here. I have already done a search on PG but couldn't find the appropriate post. So I am posing this question to you guys. I have 8+ years of IT experience. I know that's a big number. I did my B.Tech in Electronics Engg from IT-BHU. I passed out in 2001 and since then I am in software. Right now I am working for a startup in energy domain. They are paying me good approx 15L. But honestly I don't see my career going in any direction. I am not sure what I would be doing say after 5 years. I want to be in Technical side, but as my experience is growing I am finding it difficult to stay in technical side. I feel there is no career for a technical person in India. I guess I am not so brilliant to try for Google etc. I have two options either to pursue an MBA or MS(R) from IIT-D. Not sure doing MS(R) from IIT-D will add any value. Moreover I have a family to support so I guess doing a full time course is not an option. Not sure part time courses add any values. Primarily my questions are - 1. Does part-time MBA ( say from FMS or MDI) has the same weightage as full time? 2. What would be my career options after doing an MBA? 3. What about part time part time MS(R)? Any pointers will be of great help. Thanks

yes'day I received an offer from Sapient, Bangalore I am frm a startup with 3 years of exp. I'm now in a dilemma on whether to take the offer after hearing from a lot of ppl tht they follow a hire and fire policy.
I found a few threads on this topic but they r all very outdated. So I just wanted to collect a few fresh perspectives.
So it would help if I could get some first hand info abt the following.
How is the work culture? What are the chances of getting an onsite offer? Are the rumors true abt their hire-and-fire policy? I have hrd that they pay very well. Arnd how much can I expect with 3 yrs of exp?

Thanks a lot for your help
Dude I am an ex-Sapient employee...........worked there for 2 years..........its a great company to work for.........
Here are answers to u'r questions 1) Work culture is great, its very open.............u would never hesitate even to have a very informal discussion with a vice president
2) Well onsite depends on opportunity.some might go immediately on business visa (for meetings/ requirement gathering), for some it might take time to get an L1 (for techie work). The visa requirements are generally Non CS grads- 1 year shd be spent in the company for US L1 and 6 months for UK work permit CS grads- 6 months for both US and UK visas/permits For Canada and other european countries, the rules are relaxed For Business visa - there are no rules, u r eligible from day 1
3) Well if u don't perform, a company that pays u well will obviously fire u, if u have been a good performer, why worry.................be confident man...........the only way u shd go is up...............not down...think like a winner.........Sapient really takes very good care of good employees
