I have around 3.5 yrs exp in a reputed MNC in software field. Doing good at job and want to continue in the same org in management path. So am looking for good part-time management course which has value and not just some certificate course. Am aware of PGSEM from IIMB, wanted to know if there are any other such courses from other management schools ( weekend classes at bangalore). I am considering taking GMAT by the score of which I can apply for PGSEM and other such courses in coming year.
Appreciate any suggetions/guidance/feedback in this regard.

Part time courses from IIMI, IIML and XLRI are also well recognized in the industry. so u can consider these as well...

yes u can do it...appear for CAT once again...there is no problem at all..

IMO u shd go for part time MBA...if u dont want to do regular MBA...it is better than distance one....and I think Infy has collaboration with some colleges for that though I dont know the names of these colleges...try to find out....All the best...
hi Rootzzzz Not all iims give calls on the basis of acads. Having said that, the criteria for the calls varies from year to year so nothing can be generalized about any iim. Just FYI last year IIMC-PGDBM, IIMI and if i m not wrong then IIMK were the ones who gave calls solely on the basis of the individual's CAT %ile. Also those iims or for that matter other premier B-schools who do consider acads as one of their criterion for giving the calls have their weightage of consideration of acads distributed over SSC,HSC and grad %ages, so that shud not affect your chances of getting the calls much.

dude as i said before, nothing can be predicted about the criteria of the iims. It may be the same for any two consecutive years or it may be different every year. As CAT'09 is round the corner i would suggest you to put your earnest attempt at CAT without thinking of whether you'll get an iim call or not. Just aim at scoring a gud %ile and who knows iims come up with a criterion which fetches you one of the most coveted seats

Dude, Infy is a great company. Nowadays if you have noticed the B School admissions are being skewed towards candidates with work-ex (1-3 yrs, after which it can be a handicap depending on institution to institution) It is not true that work-ex under 1 yr is considered irrelevent. Maybe you won't get any weightage for it but it will surely give you an age over freshers in the interview. So go ahead, don't forego a chance to work for a reputed company over some tentative chance of getting into a great B School this year. You can always try next year.
I am a BE (EXTC-elec & telecom) 2009 batch passout from Mumbai University.I hav a placement in a IT co. But as we all are aware, owing to global economic slowdown our DOJ have been delayed and i dun see my joining to be before Jan-Feb2010.::
After passing out, I did try for a few job and secired one in networking domain(related to my course of study in BE) .... i was really excited to take dis up ...but for unfortunate turn of destiny:splat: .... my joining there to has been delayed and and am still just a fresher (did nt join yet) ....I am in constant touch wid them with regards to my DATE of Join...dey sayin its a matter of tym .. and will call us surely as soon as a vacancy opens up.......... i believe i hav wasted a lot of time in da bargain and as a result i stand to lose out heavily in my performance in MBA exams especially CAT. i hav taken da date for CAt n JMET...but preperations are nowhere ....
My ultimate aim is to be an MBA but i alwyz knew i wanna do it after some substantial Work-Ex.. but due to dis eco slowdown everythn is delayed and am losing tyym ..its been 4-5 mnths alredy
Also i also plan to appear for my CCNA and also contemplating on going thru NCFM (NSE financial course) in due...as dis will add to my CV in future...
wat do i do nw.. i feel i wont be able to do good in CAT... i really now hope i get a joining asap...n get on wid wat i had actually planned..serving my co. and earn a substantial work exp.... along wid pursuing professional certifications.... Yours is a very simple case dude. you dont have much options left. there is still time for CAT. you just have to do three things. study, study and study.
you're right in saying that MBA after a fair amount of work-ex makes things fall in perspective, but a fresher MBA is not bad either.
study well for CAT and write all the other exams. you might do well in atleast 1. which is like the worst case
I have done my BE n Electronics n communication. and then worked in Wipro for 3 yrs. Now m pursuing MBA from one of the good B schools in Finance(Core Finance). My biggest query or confusion 2 all is that is it possible for a person like me who has invested his 3 yrs in IT firm and then he is doing MBA in Finance can get back 2 the IT company. if yes then in which area?

I am a 2008 engineering graduate..Joined TCS in July 2008 and bcoz of some parental pressure and some personal reasons I left it in december without proper resignation. As such i do not have the experience certificate till Decemeber 2008, for the time when i was with TCS.
Now i am in a PSU since January 2009 till date. So i am in great dilemma of what should i fill my experience as. I do not want to lose those 6 months experience @ TCS.. Is there a way out guys?

Hey Guys, I am currently working in a IT security company in Bangalore.But I wanna give my best shot for CAT this time and I wanna leave the job currently so that I concentrate on my management entrance exams.I have another offer with TCS due around December/January with the option of deferral for a month.Could you please enumerate the pros and cons of such a thing?It has been 3 months since I have started to work in this company.And even if i dont get any experience certificate.Does it matter if I have a void for 6 months in my profile??(I have plans of saying that I have done a IT security certification course,was preparing for CAT simultaneously and was indulged in a NGO and also I ve always dreamt of joining TCS)Is this a valid explaination??Can someone enumerate the risks,the pros and cons??I will have to take a decision by 2 days!!!So please helppp!!!:(:(
