PRM (Professional Risk Manager) by PRMIA

@Vicky 113: In case of Exam 1,u need not refer to the syllabus .Just read the 2004 handbook. One great thing is that there are some 2-3 chapters that need to be omitted as per new syllabus 😁 If I remember properly ,its Exotic Options and the one either before or after that..Please verify yourself.
Since u say u are going for exam 2 as of now , just go ahead with handbook 2004 ( go through THOROUGHLY) and that should be enuff...Yes, even I enquired at Laxmi and he doesnt have the new (200 edition.. You need not bother about 2008 edition until you face exam 3.

i have gone through the exam 2 syllabus quite well, but i cant understand what kind of qs they ask, thts the reason i have not registered for the test yet, i have purchased the online test series for prm from pristine, but i dont know if similar qs are asked in prm also?its a fully maths exam so how much do they stick to just sums as well as theoretical, u got any clue?

Have u talked to Om Copy guy? What material he has ?

ya i spoke to him, i asked him if he has the updated material after the syllabus change in march, he said ya he has that, i aske dhim repeatedly, now if i was in mumbai i wld have gone and checked it myself but am not there so i cant, and for couriering it to kolkata he asked for 2300 bucks

well this thread just keeps getting lost all the time. well i got my prm handbook from om copy center, they have send the extra material which is needed for exam 3, but the best part is they didnt send me the original exam 3 material, called them up again and told them the problem, they said they will send it today

What do u mean by "original exam 3 material" ? How different it is from "extra material which is needed for exam 3" ? Can u tell me exactly how many pages the new PRM handbook contains ?

i meant for exam 3 there has been some syllabus change, some extra stuffs have been added, so the om copy center guy has sent me the new extra stuffs but not old stuffs that have remained the same. i again called him up and asked him to send it to me

Congrats !!! how many papers you have cleared including this ? Can u please tell me how many pages new handbook contains ( which u received from Om Copy)

thank you buddy, this was my 1st prm exam, will be going for my 2nd after this and that will be exam 1, want to finish the rest 3 exams within 4 months, pages i dint see properly, but its quite big, i would say somewaht like 1400 pages

How much study was needed for paper-2 ?
And is there anything specific abt the order of paper you take?

I was asking you the no. of pages to ascertain whether the handbook I have is latest or old one. My handbook has exact 1360 pages and it is written on front cover ---
Edited by Carol Alexander and Elizabeth Sheedy
Introduced by David R. Koenig

I am confused because it is written on footer of each page "

2004 The Professional Risk Managers International Association"

How can I ascertain that is it old one or latest ?

see for exam 1 and 2 u can study from tht pdf(its a pdf right?) for exam 3 u need the new handbook thts y i got the thing form om copy center and my prob is i have great difficulty in reading from pdfs so i needed the printed stuffs. if u r an engg and good in maths u dont need much time for exam 2, i prepared pretty slowly, but still finished it very fast, but after tht my revision part was v slow and i was studying the schweser notes for frm, dint wanna take any chances

Yeah its PDF. OK. How is the quality of the new handbook provided by Om ?

the handbook is good for concepts. i practiced qs from pristine careers online mocks and from frm schweser notes. i am not sure if prm has any official q bank. i wld suggest, read the handbook thoroughly, download schweser frm notes from the net and do the qs they have and if u want u can buy the prisitine careers mock tests

Puys,

I am in a dilemma as to whether to pursue FRM or PRM. Any suggestions will be highly appreciated.

Please do mention the reasons behind suggesting a particular course.

Thanks

Thanks

see i will just tell you what were my reasons for selecting prm.
1) i wnet thru the full course content of prm and frm, dint find anything less in prm compared to frm, rather i found the course much more better than frm.
2) people in india currently know more abt frm bcas its older compared to prm which was started in 2002, but globally the value is equal.
3) u can write prm any time you want
4) its much cheaper than frm
5) i have only given 1 test till now, i would say the level is tougher than frm
