hi everyone my first post here at pagal guy tho' i have been getting ll my info here for some time...
thot i cud help some o u wit my GD/PI experience at SIMS...12.45 batch...like u all wud kno they started with a presentation after we registered n then a form filling session...thr was a form in which u had to rate certain attributes vis a vis each other in terms o how imp they r for being successful/not successful...for eg: 1a.educated family 1b.supportive family...rating were to be given from 0-5 with 5 being the highest in most cases n the total o each pair had to be 4.
an essay type o ques was thr which sed "explain how u tackle probs n give an eg for the same"...200 words..CL ppl will find the EXACT ques in thr IMS book...
then the GD...the MILKO case has already been stated somewhr n thats what i'd gotten..interviews were ok..thr was a funny guy who asked me y i dint go to mdi coz i study in gurgaon n then sed "is sims to u secondary to mdi?"i mean talk abt obvious answers tho i dint give him tht...
for me no diff btwn interviews....some ppl were asked very general current affairsn acads n wht specialization they wanted to do n y?n how to market a pen if u want to do marketin n stuff...

well had my GD/PI on 4feb,morinig batch
gd went off well some case study regarding some jackass makin or rather loosing money making clothes.
The first interview was basically relaxation interview like tell us bout urself,why MBA and generic stuff
I thought the first interview was very interactive and ws xpecting the 2 interview to be gruelling. The 2 interview was even easier and just a couple of q"s on current affairs-wat do u feel bout the demolition drive in delhi and ganguly-greg chapell controversy.
so i hope to make it in SIMS!!

hi everyone.....had my intv n 4th....but was out f station after that..so cdnt post....went thru the last few pages f the thread.....all the details have been given...so therz nthng more i cud add....all i can say its not a stressful process....fr pple who have it cming up..just b cool...b yrself...b calm n composed n u l get thru.....ya they r looking at "inter personal "skills....in all the 2 intvs we given n the GD......we were told that before the process tarted...And inspite f that....opur GD began as a big fish market............:(.........just make sure....u speak..but ya dnt try to cut....what they want is that u speak but also hear the otherone speak....and the time span is enuf fr each one to come up with a few points.......fiting out there wudnt really help......all the best to all pple who have to appear fr their intvs........

Some errors here i must say firstly as sims has 280 seats,secondly SIBM foriegn placements (mainly lateral) which is very much comparable with SIMS is much more than $85000 .

well it goes like this!
i wrote very little about myself in the short essay, just describing myself as a daughter ,as a friend and as a professional as perceived by my teachers. but i could not write any thing about my problem , how i solved it etc.........because there was no time left.
then my case study went ok
about my first interview they asked me that tell me about urself. i said that my father is a serving indian army officer, my mother is a teacher teaching at APS, Patiala and my brother is an engineer and also an mba graduate right now working in delhi.
then they asked me where is he working. i mentioned the company he is working at.
then continuing with my previous ans i mentioned my strengths as meticulousness, energetic and candid.
then they asked that why do u want to do mba
i answered that i believe i have some innate managerial qualities which i will be able to harness to full potential if i do mba and exploit them at my workplace along with my technical(engg) acumen.
then they asked which stream do u prefer?
i said that though i'm open to all the fiels but i have a little bent towards finanace
then they said that tell us some latest financial news?
i answered the rising of the sensex
the next ques they asked was that what is sensex?
i said that it is an index of some listed companies whose basal points are added and when there is buying the index rises and when there is selling the index drops down
then they asked that tell us some more finanacial news
i just mentioned without thinking the reliance demerger
they said that that was a stale news
then i mentioned the LN mittal bid for arcelor
then they said that have u read newspapers for the preparation
i said that no! i'm in the habit of reading newspapers since i appeared for my ssb last year in june 2005.
then they said that are u serious about joining sims
i said that i'm very very serious abt joining sims
then they asked that have u appeared for any other exams
i said that no sir i have not appeared for any other exam other than snap
then they said thanku u can go
i thanked them and left
now about the second interview:-
after the greeting stuff, the first ques the other panelists asked me that tell us smthng about urself
i mentioned about my dad, my mum amd my bro and when i was just abt to mention my strengths they interrrupted and said what have u done and i replied tht i have done engg in electrical
then the next ques they popped up was that after doin mba would u like to join defence
than i replied that after doing mba i wont go for defence services
the next question they asked me that what is leadership
i replied to this ques in a very stupid manner - i said that a leader is a person who stands behind the back of his people and being self motivated motivates his people to achieve personal as well as organizational goals in a stipulated period of time, who is there with them even in hardships to acquire what is reqd.... and the interrupption followed with sum ques i dont remember
but then i mentioned the example of army that in army also they want a leader who can support 100 men below him
and then i follwed the ans with mahatma gandhi, bhagat singh etc whom the masses followed
with this they asked that was subhash chander bose also a leader and i said yes definitely
so they asked me that whose ideology i would prefer to follow- MK ganghi or SC bose
and i said that though i disagree with some of the practices followed by gandhi..........interrupted again and they asked me that we want one ans
and i said SC bose
they asked why
and i said that he had the ability to influence the youth whereas gandhi was very diplomatic he wanted dominion status at former stage and then...............interrupted again then they asked that what do knw about bhindrawla
i siad that i dont the details of the issue but i knw that he was responsible for the 1984riots and his hideout in shri harimandir sahib caused a shootout at that place which destroyed the temple ..........

after which i was asked to leave and i left
now tell me ppl hw was my intervw and although i knw i wont be selected but still wanna knw ur opinion guys
