Yep u read it right
Got a call frm SIMS today.They gave me an option sayin that if I want I can stay wid my parents at home & attend classes at SIMS.
They told me that initially they had made it compulsory for everyone 2 stay at the hostel but now girls stayin in Pune need 2 stay in the hostel only if they want to...The person has given me a day to decide.
also that as the initial 15 days would be hectic(as the classes would be early in the morning) I can stay at the hostel for 15 days(that is again if I want to) & later on move 2 my house.
Nope study material hasn't come yet

okay okay.... b4 this issue takes toll on u ppl... let me clear a few things.... this offer is only for GALS in PUNE... reason being there r a lot more gals in ur batch then the available accomodation (i know good for the guys)... but even these gals have to pay the fees for hostel n mess.... hahaha.... also this offer is only valid for the time being.. as soon as the accomodation is available they have to shift to the hostels... don't ask how acco will be available all of a sudden...
Also my personal advice is it's better to be in hostel as u get lot of advantages which u won't get elsewhere.... n ya being in campus is a different feeling.... cya n keep disscussin..............

Just came back frm Mumbai.so didnt call up SIMS as of now 2 inform them of my decision.will call them up tomorrow.
Partyguy sir so now I know why they r not insisting on stayin at the hostel but 1 clarification .I was told that the ones who do not want 2 stay at the hostel need not pay the hostel fees.They will either refund it or adjust it wid the next instalment.

- indeed i too have an opinion that hostel being within the campus ,gives easy access to the acads block of SIMS,helps u to manage time for urself/studies,saves ur time of travel etc..so staying in hostel is a better option..

Varghese here. Those who know me well, know what this post is going to be about I was looking through the laptops and was wondering for what it is going to be used for. If it is going to be used for some heavy application that will be given there, I may need more RAM. If I have to show some presentation to many people from the laptop itself, I will need a big screen with a wider angle of view. If a lot of work is required to be done on the laptop, then battery life will be required, given what I heard of the powercuts in Pune. Like this, I feel a lot of things should be considered before buying the laptop since if we buy only what is required a lot of money can be saved also...since I don't think the latest laptop is required. And also after two to three years we can change over to the latest laptop without any heartache thinking of the money spent on this one. We need one that will last us through these two years with the work that will be given to us. So any hints partyguy? If I am guessing right, not all of us require a DVD burner. 😃 Even if we do, I think only one in three people only need to buy one since there will be three people in a room.
If we choose wisely, most of us need to to buy a comp for only 35 - 45K, instead of 60K laptops. Since we are going to be MBA guys, we will have to look beyond the marketing and the hype and look more towards our finances. What say guys?
Hmm..... so hostel issue solved.... sahi hai bhidu masti time in hostel can never be swapped with anything else rite @rainbowsparks (PRAVEENA)....... i am of course taking there ARE lot many first timers here rite?......
@Varghese agree with u man..... i am thinkin 17" screen, 1.8 Ghz or above processor, 6/9 cell battery, CD writer....... shud be needful.... this i am thinking on a very basic level dunno hard core stuff at all.....about budget for me its 50k to 55k..hopefully will get a gud deal......rest do keep the ideas comin in...its always better to be prepared......

ok i will tell u some tihing about laptops in SIMS
Firstly u guys will require laptop for presentation and reports only so u dnt require That hify system....
about screen - you dont need to sow presentaion to any faculty on your laptop for that we have projectors and all... so no need for wide screen...
about powercuts there is not that much powercuts in college whenver we have we are mostly in academic block so dont worry bout powercuts
Some companies come to college to sell thier laptops at student discount so you can look at that option but personally i would like to buy a personalize laptop then the genral one which evryone is buying.
People who all are intrested in network gaming and all would require a powerful laptop so they have to buy from home....
lastly all those who buy laptop from home and come make sure have WiFi card to access net....

I know I have been away for quite some time now...just been plain busy..i know thats a dumb excuse but thats wat has been happening...anyways really nice to see that the thread is still so alive....Plus some new questions being put up...the accomadtion being one of them.....and wow gals outnumbering guys in this batch..thats a gr8 news for all us guys..;)
I definitely agree with ICEGUY that we should rather go in for our customised laptops,suiting our needs rather than going in for the general thing..cz i duuno abt u pple but for me my pc or laptop takes care of alot of my entertainment purpose as well......
And ya the gr8 news is that Schumi won again..that makes it 2 races in a row.and soon we'll know what's gonna happen in the next race which is scheduled for the coming sunday...
Hey Raghac i know dude..Schumi is still lagging behind,but considering the way ferrari engines are performing and still abt 13 races to go in the season its still an open game...Its really gonna be a close finish is what I feel....FWI ferrari seems to have finally come to terms with the new V8 engines...So look out Renault...Ferrari's back in business....
