is the consumer really the king in india?

@materialsguy hi

I would say, yes, customer is the king but the sellers and all other higher forces are emperors. They are gaining a lot more than what we spend. We are made to believe we are kings by offering discounts, free gifts, etc. but, truth be told, it's all a farce, a mere marketing gimmick. For example, the cost of manufacturing of a bar of soap costs at the most Rs 8/-, but we end up paying atleast thrice of the cost price even for the cheapest of the soaps. So, once again, I would say, customer is definitely a king, but a "made-to-believe" king.

@raunaq90 Walmart CEO once said that customer is real boss because they can fire us simply by spending money to other shop.

True, but what we fail to realize is that we need them too. If one customer shifts to store B from A, A will come up with something else to get the customer back. And moreover, there are millions of customers around and new ones coming up everyday, there is almost zero chance that all of them will abandon one particular store all of a sudden to shut them down. With their competitive approach, they make us fickle minded in this regard. All they have to think about is one thing, "profits", but we, on the other hand have to think about many factors like budget, economy, safety, utility. So, one again, it is us who run their businesses, but we too need them to run ours and subtly, they are micro-controlling us.

@raunaq90 basicaly u mean to say that customer should be awrae of their right and wright price.

yah...thats true, any new product when launched in market just because of consumer requirement ,

Sellers are here for business to reach out to different layers of the society to make ends meet.

Again consumer can shift the brand according to their choice & budget.

Consumer choice creates the market.So if there is no consumer there is no Company.

Privatization will lead to reduced Corruption
lets discuss:-)

Anyone else from PG having interviews at Hotel Peerless Inn, Kolkata? Where to stay?

@getsponline : yeah , Privatization helps in reducing corruption and the quick action for the overhaul of any system issues with added advantage, which is very difficult in case of govt..The reason is very simple,the size and hierarchy in the administration is very less which enables the quick responses.The workers there ,are in direct supervision of seniors so it's very difficult to do any fraud .
