"NDB/ADB - $350 MILLION LOAN TO MADHYA PRADESH etc."
The above sentence has been doing rounds on this page, and has stirred quite a confusion among people here. So, I would like to share my views on the topic. Pardon me, and correct me as well, if I'm wrong.
It is the New Development Bank (NDB), also known as the BRICS bank that has signed an agreement in the year 2017 to provide a loan of $350 million for upgradation of 1500 kms of road in Madhya Pradesh. The project is expected to be completed in 5 years, and the loan has a maturity of 20 years, with grace of 5 years.
Now, the confusion is that many websites have been mentioning that Asian Developmnent Bank has also provided a loan of same amount, and to the same state. Get one thing clear Puys, ADB had given a loan of same amount to MP, but that had happened a few years back, not in 2017. And, this is the biggest reason why it is creating such dilemma.
One more thing that strengthens the fact that NDB has given the loan, and not ADB, is that it is the BRICS bank's first loan to India. And, as we all know, it is not the ADB which is known as the BRICS bank.
I have searched the Press Information Bureau and I haven't come across a link showcasing a loan of $350 mn by ADB to MP for road upgradation in 2017.
