Alright folks, after some procrastination blame it on my home internet getting conked off and work; here you go with my GE-PI experience at SCIT.
GE-PI Date: Feb 5 @ 08:00 am 10th: Good 12th: Average Grad in BE Elex: Bad (now you get the drift ) Work-exp: 26 mnths in IT Sales&Mktg;
Reached SCIT and was assigned an I-card and the SCIT peeps lead us to an auditorium. Around 80-90 candidates had turned up for the 8am slot. They were divided into a batch of 12.
Essay+Psychometric test: We got the psychometric test booklet and the essay topic simultaneously with 25 mins to answer. The test will not take more than 8 mins. Essay topic was "MNP: How will it change the competition". My recommendation would be to start the essay immediately once the topic is announced until you run out of ideas and they move on to the finish the psychometric test at one go. Then come back to the essay and conclude it. GD1: This was a picture based GD. The image shown was of two hands exchanging money. The panel consisted of the Director and Associate Director. We had a decent discussion with participant trying to bring out different aspects to the image. Just try to interpret the image in different aspects and try to bring out the same in front of the panel. Everyone is given a chance to speak and make full use of this opportunity if it is getting difficult in finding space to enter the GD. Also note that the panel might test your listening skills/attentiveness by splitting the group in 2 parts. Or asking x (your number in this case) to conclude. GD2: The topic based GD had us to discuss on "Are old age homes necessary for the aged people. Agree or Disagree". This got a bit heated up and the panel had to intervene twice or thrice. Here in this case, try to figure out as in who is agreeing/disagreeing to the topic and accordingly make your point to have a balanced discussion. Personal Int: The interviewer was in mid 40s and a chilled out guy. Rather than he asking questions, it was a short freewheeling interview and we were discussing about SIU, SCIT and then politics. It's fine if one is not aware of the current affairs/GK savvy but always put forth your opinion and how you express it is what matters the most.Be honest and confident. Technical Int: This was taken by a lady and she was holding my essay.:thumbsup: Again, it was not much of a Q&A; format but asked a qns like, After engg and now working in Business Development, why MBA in IT? Have you applied to any other b-schools? Was asked to pick a chit from a bowl and the case study was to find out technical requirements for launching a successful multiplex chain in Pune targeting tech-savvy crowd. Since I had non-technical work-exp, was saved from those dreaded technical questions but if you have any kind of work-exp in IT then expect to be grilled on the same. For freshers, they might be asked about the final year project.
The process was concluded by verification of documents and was out by 12noon. Overall, it was very fine experience and very well organized and managed by the SCIT FY Admission committee. Kudos to you :cheerio: Waiting for Feb 25 and hope to see you all in SCIT come June 11.
Hey puys, here i am sharing my experience at SCIT. Schedule : 4th Feb, 8am First Stage : Psychometric test & Essay writing. A total of 25 mins were given to complete both. Be very careful with both these tests as the Psycho test & goes to the Interview panel.
Essay topic: Paperless Office - Can it be a reality??
2nd Stage: GD1 : A picture of robotic (without any human in picture) manufacturing unit was shown and a discussion followed. got a horrible group of 12 in which only 4 people made sense..rest were saying out of context & made it a fish market. the moderator had to intervene the gd once.:banghead::banghead: GD2: Pizzaazz Vs Parathasss..! Fair chance of discussion. every1 contributed. the moderator wanted to listen to everyone & hence paused the gd & asked a guy if he had anything to speak. To his foolishness he said i dnt want to speak. :shock:
3rd Stage: HR PI(1 male) : Was good. Asked about family background. Current job profile. Asked why you dont join your father's business. now this one was a twisted one...as he related it to the answer i gave in psychometric test.. Rest was normal.. went well..
TI (1 Female) : asked to pick a chit which contained a case & a questioned followed it. asked for logical explanation for the answer. looked at my file..now thats like the first time ever..looked at my marks, asked technical questions on java.. looked at my sports certi.. had 15-20 mins of discussion rather than interview with the lady interviewer..
On the whole..a nice experience.. hope to get in..!!
Done with SCIT interview 2day: 1st was essay-topic was are we taking bollywood too seriously??along with that was 40 questions on physcometry. 2nd had pictorial gd:there was a hand holding a piece of puzzle falling from the sky.everyone had innovative ideas lol Then another gd:is facebook the new face of revolution:very good topic for discussion though some people started telling about fb authentication.gd was going nowhere honestly but i made a valid point based on a recent protest that happened in calcutta over arushi talwar caae reopening and with the help of fb Then was my technical interview.screwed it up here,bt nt my fault.my b.tech is on electronics nd comm and she asked me questions from cs/it bck ground.diff b/w tree and binary tree..mar gaye,mujhe kya pata??was followed by a case study which was somewhat easy.also in my essay i wrote that people should watch regional movies to improve the knowledge about thier own culture to which she said so do i want to see a divided India:| Then was pi which is easy as all other pi's..the mam asked how was my journey to pune.then what genre music i liked?she even asked me to stay back as bryan adams is comin 2 pune lol.nice exp..but i think i will get rejected for being incompetitive in technical.thanks to the lady tho.. Then verified doc and boarded the bus and came to pune. Was a nice exp overall

hello friends ... had my GE/PI on 4th feb 12.00 noon.... there were 7 batches ,i was in 6th batch... in my batch there were around 12 ppl... here goes an exhaustive coverage of my process but before that... i personally thanked madreammba (ritesh sir) and aditin (Aditi ma'm) for this useful thread ..wanted to thank others also but met nly two of them so puys.. first of all there was psychometric test and essay writing... time alloted was 25 mins... be quick while attempting psychometric questions coz u'll hav to write an essay too in 25 mins !!! my essay topic was MBA : Much below Average or Mighty Business Aadmi... i tried to explore both aspects and in essence i wrote that it depends on variuos factors blah blah blah .... then our grp went for first gd , it was Hacking is ethical one guy started the discussion but he got stuck in middle .... others utilised this opportunity and started putting forward their points... at one point my gd was on the verge of becumng fish market.... but luckily moderators interrupted and gd was back on track ... but in this whole excercise i was somewhat unnoticed :drinking: i put forward some valid points but i was not the best speaker... in whole i spoke 2 or 3 times in that gd .... then we headed towards second gd which was based on a pic... in that pic a man was sitting besides a table on which there were piles of files and the man was yelling like a madman on phone... this time one girl started the gd and she ate up a big chunk of time and .. most of the obvious interpretations of the pic(like stress at workplace)... i was 3rd person and i gave my perception bout the pic (ofcourse other then what were stated earlier) i said that this pic can also be analysed as "caught in the wrong job" coz in india we are(mostly) concerned about salary package and dont pay much.. attention to our interests.... this results in frustration and poor performance at workplace.... next time i came up with another point that this pic can also be interpreted as some person who is having an unbalanced personal and professional life... i started another point but was unable to complete it coz of timing constraints overall this gd was decent and i got noticed by the panel....:-P another thing is that this time there was no fish market and everyone had his share of time... even the panel appreciated our group... then i waited for some time to be called for PIs and got my docs verified in the meantiime... first there was TI.... ma'm who took my interview was really nice ... interview was very cool ... i got into the room , greeted her and took my seat... she was having my essay and pysychometric test copies... she quickly went through my %ages in 10,12 and engg(upto 6th sem) then she asked questions like... TI : what is ur major project ?? me : ma'm Sales and inventory management system TI : ok what do you mean by inventory ? me : told TI : describe ur project... me : told then she asked many questions specific to my project like ... she asked me that suppose some customer wants to pay in intsallments etc she didnt asked ANY questions from engg subjects .... i answered all the questions as best as i could... she seemed happy (at least this is what i felt ) then i had my HR interview... interviewer was some retired airforce officer and he was calm and composed.. i was sitting at an awkward distance of about 8 feet from him !!! then he started the inteview... HR : why do you want to do mba ?? me : told HR : why SCIT ?? me : told HR : tell me bout ur self me : told HR : u said ur from jaipur but ur permanent address is of kota why ? me : told HR : tell me bout kota me : told HR : how far is kota from jaipur me : told HR : describe condition of roads in Rajasthan me : told (in my answer i mentioned bout ajmer jaipur expressway) HR : how far is ajmer from jaipur me : told HR : express ur views bout corruption me : described in detail bout it and provided wrong stats about one particular scam which he caught immediately and interuppted me i said sorry for my ignorance and proceeded ahead (so be careful bout ur stats guys) in my description i suggested some ways to fight corruption .... as i response he asked about RTI ACT !!!!! i described this too... overall it was decent interview he wished me best of luck and asked bout my performance in other rounds ... after that he again wished me best of luck then i greeted him and came out with a sigh of relief as my entire process was over :thumbsup: then i left SCIT with many sweet memories ... seniors were really nice and helped us a lot.... i really want to be a part of SCIT fraternity... m juss praying to lord with my fingers crossed .... Here goes my GE/PI experience... Date : Feb 10,2011 Time : 8:00 AM Batch - 10A5 (No. 13) My Profile : Class X - 81.4% Class XII - 79.8% B.E. (CSE) - 79.5% Work Ex - 39 months (IT company)
Process started with a psychometric test and an essay. Topic for essay was - Are we taking bollywood too seriously. Mentioned some points to the best which i could re-collect and finished all things in time .
My group had 7 members (around 5-6 were absent). Then came our first GD (Picture based). An abstract picture of two persons in a cave where one of them could see a human face in front of him.
A thought provoking GD and it went decent overall. Director of college was also present and he gave chance to three people to speak (including me).
Then came our second GD. Topic - Quality is a myth in India. I guess we deviated from the topic in between and made some irrelevant points. Overall it was ok.
Then i was asked to report for doc verification in the auditorium. Post to it, my call for HR round of interview came. Interview was super cool and so was the panelist.
Infact, it was more of a normal discussion (about my whereabouts and about my work-ex). I went smiling in and smiling out. :-P . Smile definitely helps in interviews.
Last, but not the least was my technical interview. A middle aged man with a strong personality put forward some questions such as :
1) About yourself,achievements and interests in your life (all in one go !!) 2) Why leaving your company and wanting to join SCIT. 3) Gave me a hypothetical situation on some software bugs (related to my experience) and asked what could be your steps to resolve the problem.
For all the above questions, i told answers well but somehow fumbled in between.
Anyways, all is well that ends well. Before i finish my post, i would like to thank all the seniors (esp. aditi.n) for organising the process well and helping the fellow aspirants via such forums. I also loved the violin played in the background in auditorium 😃

here i m posting m experience for GD-PI at SCIT dated 10th Feb 2010, 8.00 AM batch.. abt me.. BE passout in (EXTC), Work Exp - 18 months in IT Industry
I reached the venue exactly at 5 mins to 8.00 Am.. then followed the Registration Process.. and we were asked to wait for some time.. and then everyone was called batch wise... I think there were 12 batches in all..
Stage 1: psychometric+essay we had 25 mins to complete it .. both.. i think it went well for everyone.our topic was: Are we taking Bollywood too seriously.... i recommend to finish psychometric test first and then go for essay..
Stage 2: HR Round - it went well for me.. i was asked abt myself..normal questions.. on ur hobbies.. how u prepared for the exam.. abt Current affairs.. etc.. I recommend plz do read the newspaper of the day and the day before it.. seriously i didnt get time to do that really....
TI Round - i was asked abt the work i did at the company.. Being passout in ExTc i was asked abt Multiplexers and Decoders etc.. So plz do go thru ur acads once...ur favourite subjects etc.etc.. Then i was given a case study : Some Swedish IT Firm was to do some project Management in changing some points in the Criminal Law ....some questions abt it..
Round 3- GD-1: Topic was like WHY China is better at organising Games than India... something like this,,..initially but i was not that much able to put my points further..i did put some points later..
GD 2 - Abstract gd.. we were shown a picture in which it represented a Pyramid.. at the bottom there were 4 people over them 3. over them 2 ..1 we had to discuss on it.. it went well everyone contributed into it...
LAST-- the Document verification.. and all was done
i would like to say that the students from SCIT who were volunteering for the ADCom, did a fabtastic job with their management...
hi puys here my exp of SCIT GD/PI 11 feb 8 am i reached at 7:45 did registration then called batch wise ...my was 7th and there were total 9 batches....then psychometric test and essay held our topic was " Job Profile vs Placements" topic was little unexpected to me but wrote whatever came in mind that time.... then called for technical interview...there was a madam looking like faculty... mam- tell me about your self me- told ( expected question) mam- tell me your favorite subjects me- told two subjects which prepared mam- tell me from where should i ask from your favorite sub or from anywhere me- as you wish mam you can ask from anywhere but as i have also interest in Ethical Hacking you can ask from it also ( calibrated answer ) mam- ok tell me what is private public and protected function me- told mam - what are advantages of c/c++ me-told mam- what are disadvantages of c++ me- little puzzled but suddenly strike the platform depended problem i told that c/c++ is platform depended languages mam- what is phishing and ip spoofing ( from ethical hacking) me- told then she gave me a case study something about security management problem i told whatever solution came in mind ....overall good experience
then HR interview it was about 30 min. she was very cool , she was from defense background ask me many many questions about family, interests also gave me many situations like if family insists you to marriage and your mother and father in laws dont let do job what will you do we talked about it for approx 15 mins and one more situation about volunteer ship in college gave me long situation again discussed for 10 mins but i handled both qustions patiently....she was looking happy with my answers...
then 1st gd (picture GD) picture was a candle burning and some wax is melting of that candle , candle was in the shape of earth so i relate it from global warming ..i initiated in gd ...and all gd went well no fish market
2nd gd topic was in India democracy is the reson of curroption..... went well i participated well in whole gd and gave some good point again no fish market ....
whole experience was good ...and also wating for good result...:oops: also there was a very frienly atmosphere there all seniors were very very help ful want to thnks aditi mam and neetu mam also all other seniors (dont know name)
Essay: placements (compensation) vs Profile (job profile)
Technichal interview: with a south indian lady....she asked me axis point,round robin scheduling, cache memory, Tcp/ip protocol and many other small things including my final year project.
HR Interview: with a sir of around 40.... 1.) He told me that my psychometric tests show that i am a person who likes the sun and be out and not the type of personality who would want to sit in front of a screen all day (true).
2.) He asked me about my hobbies....music and sports....asked me the difference between rock music and rock n roll ...told....then he asked me my favorite sport......boxing.....asked me what was a speed bag....told .....then he said " Sir Aap ko to music line me jaana chahiye ya fir sports equipment ka kaam karna chahiye ...aap yahan SCIT me kahan aa gaye?".....i said....sir these are just hobies...i really wud like to pursue a carrer in IT.....then he closed his file and said ...." main carrer ya yahan ki baat nahi kar raha...i am telling u a general thing in life"
GD1: Is tahrir square the new teniminese square (something like this)...my group said they were not comfortable with it....so our new topic was " environment takes precedence over development".
GD2: a picture of a trash can full of keyboards and mouses.
Can't say much weather i will get in or not but it was a pretty awesome experience going to pune and witnessing the city ,staying in a lodge, eating vada paw's from stands and bhakarwadi from a joint called chitale bandhu's.
talked to seniors ...they said for freshers average placement is going at about 6-7 lakhs per annum and for the current 2year batch at scit...70% students have already been placed and the rest will be placed as the batch approaches towards the end of their course...pretty satisfying feedback.....and another thing was that after this course u will not be placed for programming jobs...but for management jobs. so no need to be afraid there.

Gd topic: Should BCCI provide funds to other sports... Panel : an old lady, a very old gentleman n registrar of SCIT (Mr bhusari) gd was gud nt a fish market . grp had 15 members out which 13 were present. D prb was gd bcame repetative.. evry bdy was like rephrasing d same thing..chipped in few times.. one guy concluded at d end n asked if any bdy wanted to ask anything . To my surprise one guy realy was ready.. the old gentleman denied him the oppertunity...
Picture Gd: a bulb wid tress inside n windmills behind d bulb.. a lot of discussion bout renewable source of energies. aftr some time 4-5 were givn oppertunity to speak as they were silent fr most of d time.. so cldnt mention all my points...
Nw i was bit worried as u need to b best in each round so as to b in d 'congratulation' wali list n not in w8ing list...So my destiny wld b decided on d 'h.r intrvw' n 'TECh intrvw'.. God hw wld i pull it off..
H.R intrvw:Was xpecting Mr.C.V.mohan..had meet him on SCMHRD intrvw.. n was xpecting ques SCIT or SCMHRD ?..Luckily dat didnt happen.There was a very pleasnt lady inside. she really was amazing.. asked a lot of ques bout ,likes.. hobbbies .. i had mentioned 'observing people'.... i knew how can an hr person miss dis thing.. told her hw do observe dem... wht all paramets i use.. wht r diffrnt catgries i hav observed.. hw a personality can b linked to sun signs...also hw did i get into doing this stuff... she seemed impressed.. den came d bi ques ... why huge drp in gard in marks .. told dreasons of failure...next 5-7 min were spend discusing dis thing.. as to wht happend ?? hw it happened??? wht did i learn frm it? wht shld hav dne to avoid it? afew quest bout reading books..wht all books ?? connect d dot.. n one more book by sudha murthy..ahe asked if i hav read stay hungry stay foolish.. i said yes.. but prefferd connect d dots as its bout people having achieved a lot in life inspite of no fromal education.. n no financial resources..den ques were bout ethecial values... n alot gyan came... nw her xpression said dat she was impressed..aftr d intrw was happy to get gud feedback..she said it was realy grt knwing u.. i said thnk u.thought its just a formality but her facial xpressn were kind of serious.. so assumed dat it was nt said just fr formality..she wished me luck..n den left for TECH intrvw.. TECH intrw: was w8ing outside...d mentor was amzing girl..wid a very pretty smile...i knew her she dint knw me.. asked her if she was wrking sme bharat petroleum or sme petroleum company.she said indian oil.. den came d obvious ques .. how did i knw dat..i answered.. den a guy came out of room.. n directly went to washroom.. i was baffled...onthr D.A guy went in.. i waited fr d guy to come out of washroom.. asked him wht all happened inside. he said u r gona $%#$% in side .. she wil ask bout ur fav subject.. den u;ll b histry....dat very statement killed my confidence...what added to my misery was dat d other guy who went inside.. wo bahar ane ka naam hi nahi le raha tha... i was really worried nw.. told d mentor as to wht is happening inside..she peeped in .. n told me to calm down..i was thinking if d guy inside was alive or nt?? finaly he came n den mam took tea break... well nw i was really shattered..10 min later d mentor told me to go n wished me luck.. Intrv strted: tell me smething bout ur self..told all d strong points n bout all d dimensions of mine.. loads of blah blah.. Mam; u speak vey well too.. me: thnks mam. Mam; how was ur Gd ..? me:told her d exp .. my hr intrvw was gud.. so told her bout dat as well n also my strtegy fr hr intrw.. mam: hobbies.. xtracurr activities achvmnts?? me: paper presentations , drama, dance blah blah.. mam:how do u manage all d stuff wid acads? me: i just smiled.. i thought she didnt see my grad marks.. mam: ok tell bout ur project in final yr ??.. no no tel bout paper presentation?? me: all gyan bout 1.data commn through skin 2. HCI.. human computer interface... currnt scenario...reasearch going on ..1possibilites of combining dese 2 things..nw she was impressd.. mam: so hw can we connect it to lie detectr..or dey r entirly diffrnt.? me: said hci wld largly depend on signal strenth but lie detectr has altogethr diffrnt parameters to measure.. mam:great.. me..:-P \ mam: thinking.... me: u were also asking bout proj? mam:yes me: told bout my proj?
