Has everybody taken the print out of the ge pi admit card?
@hxparam not aware of the issue, I will check with the admissions department, will be rectified if there is a problem.
@rohitpaatni007 @GranTurismo I am afraid the management is not entertaining any request on the GE/PI. You may however try your hand by sending a mail to them.

I agree that social media has a lot of pitfalls, some of them being the lack of liability, impersonation, very little supervision and the missing personal touch. But for all its shortcomings it has been able to bring provide a common platform for people across borders to express themselves freely.
I speak against the topic when I say that social media has been a tool of change, and not an overrated one. Would the Anna Hazare movement and the march for the demand for justice for Nirbhaya have been possible without the social media? Maybe. Maybe not. But one cannot deny the huge role it played in bringing these issues to the fore and encouraging like minded people to get together and act on them.
The 'change' that social media can bring about is not that it can rid the country of corruption or put a stop to terrorism but is that it can bring together people of different religions, cultures, places and lifestyles and unite them for a common cause. As all of you know, the major impediment to the Indian freedom struggle was the lack of communcation between the people in different parts of the country. They all wanted to fight for the same goal but didn't know there were others ready to fight with them. The advent of the press and Indian newspapers went a great way in uniting the country. It's impact was such that the British government sought to curb the circulation of these newspapers.
Nearly a century later, the scenario hasn't changed much. India is again in need of a change. And maybe this time the change will be heralded not by the print media but by the social media.

I agree with Sid. This is a very necessary evil if you may call it one. Take an example of this thread if you want. Or even facebook as a few of you have earlier mentioned. Consider for a moment that both were not in being-bang goes the communication between aspiring students and an institute which might just be a most important decision for most of us. Now amplify this around a hundredfold and put in factors like social awareness and national integrity. You cannot really send a postcard to someone who voices an opinion on the TV or in the newspaper to appreciate or criticize them anymore. This is something that is necessary. As far as the point related to the misuse or the fruitless use of these is concerned, we are growing towards becoming a more sensible people. This change will not be a instantaneous one-the process will be slow. And even if you are to bring about awareness about this-social media is the strongest option you have to reach out to those misusing it. :)
My vote-totally necessary, not overrated and requires a little more patience towards those using it to those condemning it.
