very poor reasoning from a hardcore pagal....sir, dont take into account last year's scores to weigh this year's chances..and sir, if you are actually telling him he doesn't stand a chance please do substantiate it by providing him adequate reasons...i dont think you have taken into account the "sectional cut off" factor , the "difficulty of the paper" , the" total marks" of this year's paper while arriving at your conclusion.thank you.
It seems tht u havent read thru the previous posts at all my dear friend. I cant write with each post wht factors i have factored in. Try readin post number 835 n u wil find the ans. Its nt possible to say to everybdy tht he/she has a chance. Smthns are obvious in nature and cant be masked. There are no sectional cutoffs as posted many times. Paper was more or less similar to last yr, infact on the easier side. The number of applications have gone up considerably whch balances out the 200 to 180 decline. N in the end, its our view point. SOme wil be happy, sm nt.

You have a gud chance of gettin a call cos of ur score and profile.
SIIB does not have any sectional cut-offs :smile:
Last year,the aggregate cut-off was 76.5 (including weightages for acads,work-ex etc.)

Few questions.. * Howz IB compared to other fields..? * with 3 yrs of exp, would u suggest to leave xxx company n join SIIB if I get through..? * Current package of x.x with an expected hike to reach around y.y by sept.. this should in no way be considered for joining SIIB.. is that correct? * What prep should I do? * Whats the focus area during PI?

Which fields are u talkn abt? If u talkn abt Finance etc thn IB doesnt compete with other fields. Infact u do have specializations under IB also as u have in regular MBA. The difference lies in the subjects tht u study e.g. Int marketing, Imports, Exports etc whch makes a student better equipped to deal with international business problems.
Pay packages are also an imp criteria for many. If joinin SIIB, u need nt worry abt it if u perform well in the college. In addition to tht the profiles offered include i-banking, consultancy, equity research whch adds to the reasons of nt worryn abt hike n thnkn abt it while makn a decision.
U shud work on GD skills. Since its a case study based round, u need to knw hw to go abt a case study discussion. Read abt important topics of last 6 months cos it may be lated to the topic of written communication. N finally the interviews. There is a grp task also bt tht wil most likely be spontaneous chice of role u would be willn to play. It checks on ut team skills.
PI in ur case can be based more around ur job and projects with little bit on standard questions.

Procedure is rt as u mentioned. One way of finding out is tht u cal up the office and confirm. Or u can PM ur form number and snap id to me or pradeep and we can try enquiring it for u.

Profiles offered cover various fields like I-banking, research analysts, treasury, equity research, market research, business transitioning, M&A;, Production planning, procurement managers etc etc. In a nut shell, diverse roles are offered. Positions and roles get upgraded in case of laterals, along with the paypackages .
The average for this year is nt out as some pay pack revisions take place. The highest sum offered this year is arnd 14L. The average this year is bound to be higher than last year's avg of 7.55L
