i was wondering all these days what kind of batch would we get, i mean the quality because if a waitlist upto 90 can be cleared then definately competitive edge also goes down...quality of student would definately detoriate,and i am sure most of u would agree with me...

Its all about me so I hope no one takes it on them selves... I was not good enough for IIMA that's why I am in SIIB and I have no regrets for it infact I am more than happy,That's the first thing. Secondly, what I have seen is people talking about INTIAL placement in terms of package and not in terms of quality of companies who recruit. I have see students from SLIMS (its MBA college) starting with a package of 1.5 and earning 6 lacs per annum after 5 years. Hey MBA is about how much we can learn and adapt in the time we have. What student of IIM will learn in 2 years we will learn it may be in 4 years... So what they will earn immediatly after completing MBA we will do it after 2 years and that sounds quite OK to me. Dont worry about any thing every thing will be fine....
Hey Come on take it positively the quality of students is not so good RIGHT??? That means U have got higher chance to TOP the list... So just enjoy yaar.....

the waitlist went till 90 v shd b embarrased abt it every1 of us knows it isn't IIMA r XLRI but v still r here becoz v vren't hving a better choice and this is nt tht bad B-school highest salary here this yr was 18 lacs per annum I am telling u guyz tht half of IIMA ppl won't hve got tht much salary so for me its the institute i love becoz it accepeted me while others rejected me B school is nt an end its the begining ur salary ur company which u wrk for depends on many thinhs guyz so please be positive in ur attitude

@eshika....since such a long waitlist got cleared deosnt always mean that the quality of the batch will go down..........this is no way judge the quality......cause slection is a very subjective thing whic depends on the whims of 1-2 selectors........people get rejected in B grade colleges adn get selected in A grade ones........there are back door entry gusy who get selected no matter what their IQ.........so according to me this is no judgment criteria......the onus lies on our batch to improve the name of siib.....
and i think one of the reasons why the list strecthed to this far is cause this year the admission was thru snap and not a separete test.........so many people might applied just cause they wanted to apply to one more college thru snap
and guys frankly i tookup siib cause i didnt have a better option.........i guess tahts what everyone does.......fro every college......

coming with my views after a long time ...actually I went to my home town ........
well, Eshika as I told you earlier too that I was in the waiting list of IIT Kgp and till now I am waitlisted , could not clear the group task round of SCMHRD.....at the same time I was selected in SIIB with merit no 40 in main merit list......
So, as per my view it does not make sense to judge about someone just by looking at his or her performance in one examination .........
Let us welcome all ....and hope we have a great batch there and would make SIIB as The Best Institute in Symbi Family .....

and u must agree that YOU might not have been that good otherwise u wud have been selected for some better college...!!
V all have joined SIIB coz none of us had a better call...and i believe whn u're talking abt an All-India WL-90, u're talking abt...er...say...the best 180 students, very good at least if not the best.
At the national levels wud it really matter...whthr u're dealing with the top 90 or the top 180...?

I have being following the recent discussion on the most idiotic remark I have ever heard that some one has commented upon
THE WAITLISTED PEOPLE ARE NOT BRIGHT i.e DUMB
this is the remark a lady ,our fellow pgite.(God forbid ! howcome such idiots lands up at PG)
Being selected to the MPIB Program of Siib Program in the first list only (final merit order 70), and a SMART guy (bcoz,I got thru first list only, and not waitlistedso according to the logic I am NOT DUMB, HENCE SMART ) I feel to add something to the discussion

Do you really know that there is a minute difference (say hardly 4-5 marks) between a person say final merit no 90 & a person with wait listed no 90....so there is a clustering of 20 students in 1 single marks OR 0.05 marks separate any 2 consecutive studentshow come then you judge a guy/gal getting 0.05 marks less is dumb.?
Now adding more ,
there are 8-9 guys in the waitlist of SIIB(not only in wl 20-30 , but also in wl 100-120) whom I know personally have got selected in top notch bschools in India like fms,iift,iitsoms,iisc, even in iima/c/l , in pagalguy only one of the fellow pgite I know Mr . Anurag Jain was a waitlisted guy and got final selection offers from almost all iitsomswhat do you tell these guysNOT BRIGHTDUMB.
Therefore, plz be careful with your ideas & attitude.. you are lucky enough that you have being selected to Siib,
I totally agree that Siib is the second best institute in India for foreign trade & guys who get selected here are cream of the talented people in India..for 90 seas 15000 guys applied.. the ratio being 0.006:wow:
if you say these people are not talented enough then I think that you need immediate pschyciatric counseling..
Guys donot get hurt of the remark ,having a friend in Siib and knowing the institutes knowhow, I freely admit that you guys are fortunate enough to study in one of the best niche schools in Indiatherefore chillax donot let anyone s offhand idiotic remark to spoil your party..take a break guys..you all deserve it.

Guys im Vivek Menon,BTech IT from cochin,pased out in 2004....joining the 05-07 batch at SIIB....so for the later entry into this group as i was off pg for a long while
And now that im back i see a few now familiar names like misha,punit etc etc..
Well for for starters i would like to to say...eshika -cheer up gal...u in awesome company now so by default that makes u rockin too,right boys and girls of SIIB!!!
Like avishek said the waiting list thingy is a margin of too miniscule proportions to count.........
What we all have to do is HAVE MAXIMUM FUN as a grp and make these 2 years of our lives unforgettable.....Lets make it a big huge party lasting 2 whole years.......Now who's with me on this one??
