Sitting idle... need advice? What to do in current situation!

I don`t even feel like takng up anothr job and wish to prepare again for CAT .I was thinking of joining sm NGO. Wud tht help in those B-school interviews to justify the gap?? Plz suggest other options too

Hi

Yes, working with NGO wil hep you definitely in justifying the gap. One of the better options i would say is to join NGO as the paid employee as it woud be counted then in work ex as well.

Otherwise, join NGO voluntarily to show as social work and rest you can search for a small job in your city which can make it count for work ex.

I will also suggest to revise concepts and give your best shot in NMAT as well. 😃 Once you do well in it, then you can decide to join or leave it.

Hope this helps.

All the best!

Hey guys! It seems this thread is offering PITY free of cost. :D
I completed my engineering this year and got a call from TCS. Have to join there in january. But now when I have forgotten all my subjects while i was preparing for CAT I feel TCS is shit. I am not meant to be there.
I am hopeful for CAT. Now when waiting for CAT's result i got another switch of interest. Now I am looking out for a govt job and related exams.
What's happening? I am surprised!

i heard that packages that are offered are not real

is this true????

Pretty normal, same here! I came to know after long that I am not a business guy, interest turned, still preparation is useful.

i have completed my +2 in 2004 and i have done my bba from distance education in 2009-12 and i don't have any work experience for these gap years. can someone tell me if i can get into for 30 b schools even if i score 95+ percentile.

Check for eligibility criteria of respective B-Schools on their website to know in how many of them are you eligible to apply.

And with such a profile, i will suggest not to target 95. Target as high as possible to ensure that you get calls and convert them. Score of 95 wont help your cause.

All the best.

this is the best post ever written on pg
it truly shows the hope in eyes

same here buddy

thanks for such a quote

This thread gives an idea that getting failed can really be dangerous and later on useful.

now i understand why they say, failure is the first step towards success.

This query might sound a little strange...
But here it goes..now i m a fresher this year and about to complete my m.sc degree in chemistry.Hoping to join a good college this year itself but prepared for the worst. So if i do not finally convert any call(assuming i get any) then i will have to go for a job.Now the core jobs which i am being offered require me to sign a two year bond with the companies(which i am not intrested in).I am also getting a job in the software firms(due to my strong programming background and also partly due to the reputation of the college). Here is the dilemma...
1)will my joining a software firm hamper my chances for admissions next year(particularly as i hold a m.sc degree in chemistry, but will work in software firm)???
2)could this be an advantage as i am showing a bit of diversity in my academics(although i know this is just my optimism)???
3)is taking a year or two off in the above circumstances really advisable??
PS-i could get 98 above this year...
Academics:
10th-85%
12th-82%
post-undergraduation-78%

thnx in advance

Regarding MBA, I don't think getting into IT will give you any advantage. Every year maximum aspirants for B schools are from IT sectors. And B schools now a days are looking for diversity. So you wil not get any extra points for this.
It will not hamper you chances either,
You have to work there till you got into a college of you choice. So decide on basis of this.
n What do you mean by taking an year or two off?

It's entirely upto you whether you want go for a MBA this year or after 2 years or an executive MBA some years later.
Regarding MDI, IIM depends on ur GD/PI given that you get a call.

Hi All,
I need some advice regarding my career.
I am right now working in a US based IT company.
I have no interest in continuing my career in IT.
I have interest in Finance. (My complete family in involved in Finance Domain).
I too wanna make a career in Finance.

I know about CFA.
People told me that its easy to clear Level - 1, but later on Levels get tougher and tougher and a very few people clear level - 2 and subsequently Level - 3. So the crux of the matter is I don't have so much time so as to study for CFA.
Also the exam fee is too much!!

I also know about NCFM.
I am registering for that.

Last option which I prefer the most is Certified Financial Planner.
It is a good Course. Fee for examination is also in range.
I want to go for this course.
But I need guidance from you all so as what would be best suited to my clause?

Thanks!!
