1. 2012 CGL: cut off for IP
UR=349, OBC=319, SC=284
cut off for NIP
UR=313,OBC=281,SC=251
cut off for TA
UR=298, OBC=270, SC=236
VACANCIES: FOR IP, 3385(tentative at the time of result) . 5619 candidates were selected for IP. SO, ratio=1:1.66
Final vacancies for ip became 4908 out of which 4196 seats were filled finally, remaining left unfilled.
FOR NIP: 10594(TENTATIVE)
13676 called for NIP (excluding ip candidates above 5619)
Final vacancies=13211 but only 8853 seats were filled, others left unfilled.
FOR TA: 3014(TENTATIVE)
2635 SEATS were filled.
So total final vacancies recommended(approximately)=4908+13686+3014=21608
2. 2013 CGL: cut off for IP
UR=420, OBC=391, SC=353.25
for NIP: UR=401, OBC=368.5, SC=334.
FOR TA: UR=393, OBC=359,SC=323.75
VACANCIES: FOR IP, 5373 SEATS
10000 called(approximately)
So, ratio:1:1.86
FOR NIP, 5675 final selection.
For TA, 4500 final selection
So, total(approximately)=5373+5675+4500=1554
WHY CUT OFF SO HIGH IN 2013 AS COMPARED TO 2012?
A.BECAUSE only nip seats 5675 as compared to 13211 in 2012.
B. 2yrs of preparation for same 2013 exam
C.mostly importantly, 2013 paper was much easier than 2012.
But IP seats almost same.In 2012, the difference in cut off between IP and NIP was around 35 on average. But in 2013, it was around only 20 because NIP vacancies decreased significantly.
3. 2014 CGL: IP POST 7000 approximately. So, 12000 or more will be called for IP. ratio=1:1.7
Non delities say their paper is more difficult than Delhi paper. Suppose we accept this for now.
But 2014 Delhi paper is not easier than 2013, level of difficulty almost same. So,if we accept the above hypothesis is true,then overall 2014 paper is more difficult than 2013. If not, it's same.
CONCLUSION:2013 high cut off was because of much easier paper compared to 2012, nip vacancies decreased significantly,2 yrs of preparation.
In 2014, ip vacancies increased. Overall vacancies remains almost same(there's no clear picture yet)
Over 140000 candidates appeared for2014 tier 2. So, we can't come to any conclusions based on hardly 200 candidates on this thread,i.e, there's hardly any poll which has more than200 candidates on this thread.Above all, pg is elite group.They are toppers. Level of difficulty of 2013 paper and 2014 almost same.Hence, it doesn't make any sense in saying 2014 cut off will be higher. Instead,it will be less,if not much, considering all the factors above.
Bhaiyon, Cut off for Ur Ip might be 417.

In the last 3-4 days it seems that life has stagnated. I don't feel like doing anything. It is a void that can only be filled by results; favorable or non, it doesn't matter. Atleast life with have a pace then. Right now I feel like an 80 year old guy, long retired from work, whose wife passed away a couple of years ago, who hasn't seen any relatives in years & who is boring enough to be entertained by fellows in the old age home. It seems the result will be delayed now and may come only in last week of may. The SSC people are not giving any true picture regarding delaration of result. The notification for UPSC which was supposed to be released on 16th has been postponed. A glaring example of how our govt departments work.
