If a sum on compound interest becomes 3 times in 4 years, with the same interest rate, it will become 27 times is ...

Answer: 12 years

Shortcut:
Compare only times here, 27 times=3^3times. Consider power here, 3.
So the required answer is 4years*3=12years
Time and Work:

M1D1H1/W1 = M2D2H2/W2

Where M1 & M2 represents no of laborers; D1 & D2 represents no of days; H1 & H2 represents no of hours; W1&W2; represents work done....

Example: 30 men can complete 1500 units in 24 days working 6 hours a day. In how many days 18 men can complete 1800 units working 8 hours a day?

Soln.: As per the formula, M1D1H1/W1 = M2D2h2/W2

=> 30*24*6/1500 = 18*D2*8/1800

=> D2 = 36 days
8 Times A's Share is equal to 12 times B's share is equal to 6 times C's share...

Shortcut To find their share ratio:
8A=12B=6C
Divide by 24(LCM)
A/3=B/2=C/4
3:2:4
If a price increases by 25% then how much percentage the person should reduce his consumption so that no extra amount will be spend?

Increase 25%=1/4
Now decrease=1/(4+1)
=1/5=20%...

If he decreases his consumption by 20% then he can compensate...

If 1/x increase then 1/(x+1) decrease...
Here the shortest way to solve ball rebouncing problem....

If the ball is dropped from 120m height and its rebouncing 4/5 of the distance then how much total distance is travelled?

Answer is 120*(4+5)...
=1080m
If a person travels 2/5th of his usual speed, he is 30 minutes late. Then what is his usual travel time?

30*(2/5-3)=30*2/3
=20minutes
...
Same shortcut is applicable for early sum as well...

If a person travels 7/5th of his usual speed, he is 20 minutes early. Then what is his usual travel time?

20*(7/7-5)
(not 5-7 here because no negative sign on time)
=20*7/2
=70minutes

Hi All,

This is the first time, I am going to appear for SSC CGL. Hence, I don't have very clear idea about the job profiles. So, I would request you to provide me general idea on how to give the preferences.
I would like to prepare for civil services. So, the jobs with less work pressure would be preferred.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions.
