(And why not? If they can jumble the cloze test, don't you think they will try to make the rest of the paper a bit more tricky?)

I found three wrong questions in the paper:

2. Average of n number is a. The first number is incresed by 2...
I wonder why no one batting an eye on this question. Correct answer is
a+ 2*(2^n-1)/n which is not in option.

A number of, a lot of, lots of, heaps of, a quarter of, plenty of, most of, some of, two-thirds of, three-fourths of, mass of, majority of minority of, all of, proportion of, all of, none of, both of, rest of, a total of, remainder of, half of, many of, much of, a handful of, a good deal of, a great deal of.
Below are few sentences, in which, usage of singular/plural verb is according to 'Noun' which is placed after 'of' is correct, students are advised to make these kinds of sentences.
1) A number of boys are absent.
2) A quarter of them are bad.
3) Half of the mango is bad.
4) The rest of the book is unfinished.
5) The rest of the books are unfinished.
6) Half of the mangoes are bad.
7) A part of the mango is rotten.
8) A part of the mangoes are rotten.
9) Lots of poison has been prepared.
10) About 70 percent of the amount has been spent.
11) The majority of writers never pass that stage.
12) A large proportion of this northern army was British.
13) There are plenty of ecstatic instants, which are valueless.
NOTE 1: If infinitive (to + verb) is used after lots, then it is (lots) considered singular, because infinitive = singular noun; for example;
1) There is lots to do.
2) There is still lots to say.
