Article 6:
What to do before putting pen on paper during exam?
In the previous article 5, we have seen the structure of an essay and the number of words should it consists of. Now, let’s get into the next step….that How to start an essay?? What all do we need to do before putting a pen on Paper?
Should we directly attempt essay on paper?? Or shall we think for 5 minutes and then put pen on paper? Yes, thinking what to write before putting pen on paper is exactly right. In the examination hall, we will not be given any rough sheets…we will be given only an answer sheet, where we will have to write everything that roams in our mind during that 1 hour. So you will have to have a rough idea in your mind before starting a first word of an essay …be it an essay or be it letter writing.
There are many online materials or pdfs related to descriptive test are available in market. What you will do generally before appearing for descriptive? Being aspirants...we generally go through those important topics or current issues in detail before you appear in actual exam right !!! Well…Generally what candidates do in Exam? They just put all those points that are given in materials or they present what they have read in online pdfs available. This is a common thing that everyone can do. But what really works to score well in descriptive exam??
Having knowledge about that particular topic before appearing in exam is really, extremely good. But presenting the same as it is does not work there, so what you have to do? You need to present your own ideas and methodologies along with the knowledge about the topic that you already studied. For instance, let’s take “Digital India Program”, At home while preparing, we will generally jot down some details like when this program was launched and by whom and for why and what are its objectives, etc., besides this, you will have to think about your own ideologies to write and key points to mention besides presenting already known facts that are easily available in materials.
Now, when you are given an answer sheet to write…at this point you have facts that are already studied at home and new ideas to be written (think about 5 minutes in mind that...What to write in Introduction part, Body and conclusion)…At this point you have got what key points to write in exam right !!! Wait…stop there…
Next Article 7: In the upcoming article, We will be looking at writing first para, second…till conclusion...we will also look at Linking of the paragraphs in an essay..Please stay tuned!!
Article 7:
How should an essay be? How can we link one paragraph to another?
Very Important article….one must surely go through …It may take 10 minutes…but still do read…Till now, we have gone through structure of an essay, no. of words it should consist of and the task (thinking for 5 minutes) that we should do before we put pen on paper right!!!
First of all, just think that why should we write an essay? Do you think that examiner don’t know about the topic that is asked in exam? Of course he knows about the scheme/program/issue/topic...Then again why they are conducting this round? We already came to know that this descriptive round is conducted basically for assessing candidates writing skills, language skills and thought process of the concerned topic right!!! That means …Examiner is expecting something new from you…some new ideologies…he always votes for the ideas that make him think for a while about that topic...This is how ….he expects for an unique answer from you guys and he is of course willing to give you marks for your neat handwritten, well justified, neatly presented précised article as his work itself is to give you marks by assessing some skills that I mentioned above.
Well, what kind of essay everyone generally likes? One must present an essay in such a way that.....evaluator must understand what all about an essay is….even when he picks up middle paragraph and read it…he must understand the entire theme there itself. For a better understanding of essay, linking must be done well and must be related to the previous paragraphs in a proper manner.
Let’s say article consists of 5 paragraphs,
1) I mean, 1st para basically tells about the theme (what all about an essay is)…
2) 2nd paragraph must be in connection with the points that are used in 1st……
3) 3rd paragraph must be in connection with points used in 2nd ….
4) 4th paragraph must be in connection with points used in 3rd para
5) Conclusion must be dealing with all important points dealt in article and you need to mention further improvements to be implemented if any.
Now, something immediately strikes in your mind that......how we can correlate all these points with an example right!!!… Yes, here it is …what all you want!
For Example: Pick any one of my articles, in the very first paragraph (I mention …what we were dealt with previously…it’s an Introductory part)... Then, I get into topic and write 2 or 3 paragraphs mentioning key points in every single paragraph (its body consisting 3 or 4 paras). Finally I conclude, saying what to be done to solve the problem and I mention about the upcoming article (it’s a conclusion part)….Have you seen how linking was done in my article?? Pick up any article…even in this article…you will find the linking from starting to end right!!!!
One more important point, have you seen any repetitive ideologies in my article?? No right..!! Even if repetitive in my article...It was for your better understanding…..but in actual examination, each paragraph should have its new point dealing with new idea. This is how; you also should present an essay.. making sure that the same ideas are not repeated in all the paragraphs. I mean unique idea in each paragraph but linking should be there from para to para.
What are you feeling now after reading at the end of article..? Feeling like this article is some worth reading for right!!! The same feeling...The same curiosity… our examiner must get by the time he gives us marks for our essay. Chill…I am appreciating my own article…Lol…Everything I write here for your understanding with example…not for blowing my own trumpet..!!
Next Article 8: Please keep in mind that, ideologies alone does not work for presenting précised essay. In addition to that, we need to know about some of the pre-defined “Keywords” that should be used in essay. We’ll look about keywords in next article. Important PDFs that I have .....will be given to you tomorrow. Stay tuned till then…

Article 9:
How to start first paragraph of Essay and Usage of Keywords in an Essay?
Hey guys, till now we have seen a lot about essay like structure, no. of words, linking of 1 Para to another. Now, let’s get into an important article telling about usage of important keywords and all.
Let’s first discuss about how can we start an essay basically? Generally it’s every time said that “An Essay starting with its relative quote” can gain a good score. Yes, what you have heard is exactly true…but we should also know the usage of Quotation in very beginning of the first paragraph. If you can manage to start Introduction paragraph with quotation...Then you can…otherwise you may directly start an Introduction paragraph with some major known facts and a very good theme including in the Introduction paragraph.
Note: You may get quotes from the PDF that I have sent you through mail Now, let’s get into the usage of Keywords. In our earlier articles, we were discussing that we should not mention “Introduction”, “Body” and “Conclusion” like words. But one question that strikes into our mind that, how can an examiner get to know that they are introduction, body and concluding paragraphs? Yes, here is an answer for your query. Examiner get to know that whether that’s introduction, body, pros and cons, conclusion..etc., according to the wordings (Keywords) that we use.
For instance, some of the keywords are,
1) To Start with
2) The merits of
3) In contrast, some others may claim that
4) In Summary/ As a result..etc.,
Now, just open the “Keyword PDF” that has been sent through mail yesterday..Look at the underlined keywords given in the templates. So, based on the above wording…..Examiner thinks that,
1) To start with – Examiner understand that this is introduction part ….he thinks that…student is going to state some important statement in introducing something
2) The merits of – Examiner thinks that…you are going to state some advantages of the concerned topic
3) In contrast, some others may claim that – Examiner thinks that…you have stated some argument already....and in opposite to that…now you are going to state some other contrast statement
4) In Summary – Examiner thinks that…candidates is going to conclude the essay after seeing that :Summary” word This is how…those keywords works amazingly in writing well justified essay. I think with this, you might have got some idea on the wordings that can be used in an essay.
Next Article 10: Friends...almost we are done with many things till now regarding essay and we are going to close this “Articles on Essay” session with in 2 or 3 articles…After that let’s get into Letter writing. In our next article, we shall look at “Important topics for Essay” for descriptive exam. Thanks for having keen interest in reading suggestions from an aspirant like you.
