hey uptill now i also thought that tapmi was better compared 2 sibm!! but i raise a genuine concern:- sibm cutoff: 96.48%ile(xat) where lesser people appear, that directly implies 2 things, one that lesser number of calls were given or else very high number of people applied or both.. so conclusion that they have faith that most of the people would be joining 4 sure once they are given the final call!! on the other hand, tapmi cutoff: 88%ile(cat); here exactly vice versa of the above explained scenario!! :whatthat: what do all of you people conclude 4m the above mentioned data and interpretaion?? yes, ur guess is as good as mine!!

Dear Mr Anurag With due respects to your personal opinion I just wish to draw your attention to certain small but critical facts. From your above mentioned calculation its quite clear that you are good in maths. But looks like analytical is a bit weak. Pls understand that if any B grade institute keeps a higher cutoff then it only means that its going to get the crowd which is being left over by the A grade ones. You have rightly mentioned that number of students in case of XAT is less (around 1/3 of CAT aspirants), but the students getting calls from the A Grade institute doesnt gets reduced. And hence for them also the cut off comes nearly same as that of the above mentioned B grade institute. So if you have noticed then certain well known A grade private sector institutes are famous for giving call till 80%ile in CAT. And then they try to select the students displaying maximum aptitude of becoming a good corporate leader. Same is the case with TAPMI. They have also selected some of the best students not by just there %iles but also on the basis of many other factors. I hope that clarifies. and yes ur guess is as good as mine!!

just one thing i'd like to piont out.TAPMI gives calls at lower %iles coz TAPMI gives more importance to ur performance in the 2nd stage. think abt this-GD, written summary, extempore, PI, another written evaluation, interview with director's panel.....all this has lots more weightage than written score. Tapmi looks for good guys with all-round ability.
P.S.- i hv come across guys hving 96%ile + not being able to make it to Tapmi...n guys with %iles in low 90's doing it.

hey anurag , that was a pretty intresting analysis of sibm v/s tapmi .But i would like to say 1 thing tat jst take a case of our dear friend abhishek who did not score as well in cat(according to his standard))and u know he scored fantastically well in all other xams including fms where he is shortlisted for the interview ,so is he not good enough for iims or mdi etc huh??so i think tapmi is pretty smart enough to realize tat only a days performance doen not make u eligible to be a manger so it has decided to test a range of student(so than students like abhishek n any1 like him woul;d not be ignored)so dude jst try n rethink ur angle or may perception of analysis jay

about my sources, two of my direct cousins are studying in manipal itself, one 3rd year computer engg. and another 2nd year I.T.. they have many friends at tapmi.. its walking distance from their hostel.. anyways man, please dont take any hard feelings on this discusion.. these are just opinions.. about imt results still awaited and god knows when it will come out.. chalo keep in touch friends..

M visiting TAPMI on 21st to deposit 25K ( in case IMT results does not come). I would be waiting till the afternoon for IMT result and would take my decision accordingly.

i have left tapmi for imi delhi bcoz all had suggested me to join imi then tapmi tapmi is decent but hostel is pathetic placement is ok sort of but hardcore finance job was missing facultyof tapmi is considered to good but there was ad in toi recently for faculties for almost all stream tapmi is in beautiful city of manipal but corporates are missing from there tapmi dont ahve sports facility in the campus canteen of tapmi is more like roadside eatery after all its our 2 year and i dont want to utilise it at such a nice place
there is a big problem i want our senior from imi to plz solve it actually in the imi brochure there was nohting written about mr.c.s.venkata ratnam-director imi even his name was missing from there then in our int call letter and final letter this person csvr had signed it as director is he really director imi then what happen to mr.nitish sengupta? one more thing imt ghazizbad brochure mentions prof.c.s.venkata ratnam as their full time hr faculty(last page) now what is this ? how can a person be full time faculty at two places? one more thing today i received brochure of gitam institute of foreign trade which says him to be their director and their site (gift) says he is advisor to the institute now what is this ? does that mean imi doesnot have full time director who can concentrate only on imi and now my friends says he had for some time in the past faculty of iift delhi i hope his this connection will definately help imi stucents in their final placements. what u say guys? some senior from imi plz solve this puzzle and make the ride smooth for us others can also post their view! bye elooooo, Are you sure, you wanted to post it here in this thread ?? *puzzled* Rick.

i can dare u on one thing fr sure- this mail wud hv critised imi n praised tapmi had u decided on taking up tapmi. we all agree it's ur decision, but why make comparisons being biased openly against an institute. even i can criticise imi fr it's pathetic selection process, but wud not like to go into it. let peace prevail.... hope this mail brings better sense....
