IMT kept me waiting for quite a length of time. I had to deposit 25 K today at TAPMI . I have done that and am looking forward for two years of study at TAPMI.
Had brief chat with TAPMI guys today And this is what they had to say --
Abt imparting good education -- it is excellent. Rules are very strict. zero tolerance for any violation. placement are decent and zero data fudging abt the placement data reported on the site. Disadvantage-- location. Affects placements. Otherwise --for the standard of education imparted, it can have much better placements
Tried to get some data abt the waitlisted candidates.; But was politely refused. They said it would be put on 23 or 24th. So those waiting in wings can check ur fate after wednesday.

well sorry abt missing the olde dates i was going thru some archives n got the 93 date...crosschecked it coupla times but yes it seems i was mistaken..but neeways i think the post was in the right spirit...n it was not abt imi v/s tapmi...or x v/s y...it was abt the way u post ...n the fundamental concept of of not comparing...abt posting to mr biyani...i have couple of time posted him when he used to ask this comparision question in each n every thread...but it seems to no avail...neeways njoy ur time ..n yeah plz refrain from mudslinging..

Since u hve already realized which institute is older i dont need to say anything abt it. IMI strted in 1984 but the 2yre PGP prgm started only in ninties (i think 1992 or 1993 not sure which yr in ninties). By the way i hve joined SCMHRD.

Hi there, First of all, let me invite you to our Yahoo! group, that is Red Butterflies, where a very keen kinship has already been established. You may submit your membership request along with your Tapmi registration number at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/tapmi07/ . Do join us, and we've already discussed the topic you've just mentioned. Please go through the message archive. For a quick review, the lowest interest rate was offered by 'United Bank of India', which is 9.5%. But this was offered to a student who had some acquaintance with a particular branch manager. Actually when the same person approached another branch, the rate was higher by 1%. I myself has availed loan from State Bank of India, which I found is handy. I took a loan for Rs. 4L and the interest rate is 10.5%. But you will get a rebate of 1% if you (or your parents) can pay the simple interest during the course of your study. So, that means your EMI will be calculated with an interest rate of 9.5%, if you or somebody on your regard can pay the simple interest till the commencement of your paying back. EMI is ~Rs. 6.7k for a repayment span of 7 years, and ~Rs. 8.8k for 5 year duration. This is calculated with an interest rate of 10.5%. If you can offer yourself a rebate ie. 9.5%, then the EMI stands reduced. Also note that (in case of SBI loans):
You and your father together should apply for loan
If your mother, who should be the second guarantor, is employed, then no second guarantor is needed. Unless otherwise, you should provide a second guarantor who's employed.
You should insure your loan against any fatalities, of which premium is also a part of the loan, and the scheme is very attractive.
If you need a loan for > Rs. 4L, then the interest rate is 11.25% (In some branches this is said to be 11.5%) and you should provide a collateral.
Documentation, the process delay and stamp fee are really negligible
As Tapmi is yet to figure out in the trusted institutes list of SBI, you have to drag in your parents, no other option.
You should start paying your loan, either 6 months after your getting a job, or 12 months after your completion of course.
That's a quick glance, and for more details approach the bank. I would suggest any of the major branches rather than the local/rural branches, as they are more used to and more equipped. i got my loan sanctioned from Bank of Baroda, i found their offer the best
if u repay the interest regularly the rate is 9.5% else 10.5% ( this offer only from BOB) they have Simple int. during the moratorium period( till 6months from completion of course) and C.I. henceforth.
as of the EMI, i got my loan of 375K, my emi from 23 sept 2007 wud be Rs.8060/- :huh: :huh: :huh: so all u guys wid loan on ur head swear to bag an awesome figure as salary else v gonna ..... better not said!!
do not trust ICICI, HDFC etc etc as they have loads of hidden charges. SBI's offer is almost the same except the 9.5% thing.
WARNING: BOB wud ask for u for zillions of documents as a part of their formalities, but then i suppose most banks wud do that. few documents required are: A. Your documents, marksheets & stuff. Fee structure given by TAPMI.
B. Your parent's/ Guardian's documents 1.Residence proof 2. PAN Card, Pay slip, Bonds, NSC's, Shares, Other loan documents, Papers of (im)movable property etc
C. A guarantor has to submit the same set of documents as above.
yesterday i called up tapmi they told me that they took 66 student in the wait list out of which they have send 20 students to confirm their admission. my name was in 40's and he asked me to call up on 6th and said i have chance. if any one has some more info plz let us know
