Jbims banking and financial insurance(bfs) 38 % placed in this sector
nmims 31 % banking and financial insurance(bfs)
iit-b 30 % banking and financial insurance(bfs) and many of them at equity resarch roles
if you observe tapmi it is not the case IT dominated 60% in 9 companies of which it has a gud portion OF IT that's why they are planning fo bfs(my guess) to attract the best consulatants in the field like mckensey etc etc.
And many more colleges reported 30 + % of their students in this sector is it this years trend or does this happend every year if so bfs is a wonderful option at hand and ib i find people talking about it very rear 7 years ago the course completed means 5+ years in microsft(as quoted earlier) but salary remained at 1.5l/month . Hcm i restrict my comments what do u say puys let us for tHE use of all puYS put across our points across regarding specalisations so that it will be of a gr8 help.
Seniors
1.BFS??? in what way is it helpful or is it at risk because we are going too narrow into a field if again economic corrections happen banking will be the first to get affected and there by we keep ourself in risk??
2.IB again it is of 2 types type 1 is almost related to pgdm but type 2 ????
3.HCM ---------------
4.FINANACE/BANKING& FINACE COMPANIES PREFER THE LATER OR FORMER??
5.ROLES OFFERED I CAN NO WHERE FING SENIORS COMMENTING ON THIS
WILL BE VERY HELPFUL IF THESE QUERIES ARE ANSWERED
BHARAT AGIN SMALL WORK TO YOU PLEASE TAKE 5 MIN OF PAIN IN EXPLAINNIG US THE SAME.
Hi, konchamishtam. I am not a senior but would like to tell you my perspective on this.
BFS->Like I earlier said, BFS in TAPMI is the best bet to be honest (even more than pgdm, in terms of ROI) Simply because of excellent faculty in that field, Above excellent Alumni and a very concentrated batch of BFSI kids who have the time to divulge into a particular field very early on. All of this makes BFSI the winner in my perspective but the net positive result will depend on
1)Alumni Linkages that the batch builds up and works on.
2)Industry Interaction Committee
3)Branding
Tapmi BFSI alumni are in positions that people here can't actually imagine. I didn't believe it myself before i saw it with my own eyes-Almost half are in countries like US, UK, Oman, UAE, Australia. Germany. It depends on the batch how they will utilise all these alumni resources in their favour.
IB-> I have absolutely no clue and its strange that the college site STILL doesn't have details about the course. This will definitely make matter worse for kids who would have wanted IB (since IB would traditionally either go into Internationl TRADE (sun-shine sector) or International Marketing ( )) so many people would have opted for the same but now due to the confusion no one will opt for it as no one knows the course content (If seniors are listening then they should probably ask their professors to publish the info about IB).
UPDATE->"pgdm IB will be more about International Trade and doing business internationally. Finer details are still being worked out"-prof.Raghunath Rudran Chairman -Post Graduate Programmes
HCM->This wont fail. Why? 1)Highest on average growth sector in the world (not just in India) 2)Kasturba Medical College-Manipal 3)Alumni who are in the HCM field (a lot of tapmians are).In my understandig HCM is a goldmine industry.
For people who know what they want in life, the specialised courses are always a boon, for people who don't nothing ever is.
As said above, Some senior should answer konchamishtam's queries in a more lucid manner.
As per my understanding of Industry demands, the cards are very well played by TAPMI as of yet. I just hope enough will be done on the branding part and recruiting new good professors as well.

Ask question judiciously and to the right person, don't ask about bedding and lounging to Dean-Academics]
The results for all the other courses(BFSI, IB and HCM) would be declared only around 15th May. (I presume this delay might be because of clarity on the AICTE approval with regards to the new courses). On the down side this means more waiting for the aspirants, but wouldnt it be better if we knew about the status of the courses before the results are declared!! The Waitlist Number will also be known only after 10th May.

if they don't put up results of BFS, IB, HCM because of lack of AICTE approval, does this mean they released the list for PGDM for only 120 seats (60 seats are awaited for AICTE approval) ??

Frankly speaking I dont know for how many seats the initial list has been released for. My presumption is it might be for 120 seats (Disclaimer : I might be wrong). Wait till 10th May before admission office throws more light on this.
Still a long way to go.... The wait is sure to kill me....
As of the moment, I myself dont have much information on the new courses, and hence i dont want to be making false promises. Please give me time till the results come out and I would in the meanwhile get some info regarding the courses and the kind of companies which might come for such courses..

Also to add on, guys, we do see ur queries on details on the courses, etc, but you need to understand that these are totally new courses that are being started from this year on. So, like the way you are, we too don't have much details regarding them. Myself, Bharat, Sandeep and everyone else in pagalguy are doing our internship with our respective companies and still take time out to chk and respond on this thread because we want to help you guys out as much as we can. We are not in the college to just go and ask the professors or the staff there guys. Being in our internship places, we have the same routes of communication that you have like phone and email to the college. In fact, we come to know of many details on the admission process through this thread only.
We are here to help you guys in the best possible way. If we are very clear on answering your queries, we do so promptly and promise to continue doing that. So please bear with us in our limitations to answer each and every query that you put forward. Happy to help...:lookround:
Dude, I think every TAPMI aspirant on PG should be grateful to the kind of support and guidance the TAPMI students are giving.
Instead of that, you ungratefully accuse them of not showing you the right way?
How can you expect them to get you the details (WL movement) they are not privy to?
Just be a bit reasonable with your demands!

How is the specialisation like Marketing , Finance, HR, etc. decided at TAPMI?
- Is it based on merit after first year score along with interest of the student.
- Is there any fixed no of seats in each branches.
I am interested in Marketing ; How many seats are there for it ?
THe specialisation is based on the electives that you take in the 2nd year. The first year subjects will be the same for all students of PGDM.
From our batch on, TAPMI is offering a basket of courses to choose from for your electives in the 2nd year. It is for the student to "claim" his specialisation before the companies when they come for placements. For example, I may take 7 electives of Marketing, 3 from Finance and 4 from Systems. I may claim myself to be a Major in Marketing and minor in systems or Finance. However, TAPMI issues only PGDM degree and NOT PGDM in marketing, etc.
There are a few courses (1 or 2) that require a minimum grade in the related course in the 1st year. Apart from those, all other courses are there upto you to choose. There are no max. students cap on the electives.
Hope this answers your question.

Specialization for different courses depends purely on the interest of students. There is no fixed seats as such. We are offered a bouquet of electives in the 2nd year and one is free to choose any elective of his or her choice(irrespective of specialization). However in case the elective does not have a minimum number of students(15 in our case) the elective is dropped.
