Please give us some time on queries regarding type of profiles which different companies had offered for different specialization. Regarding expected package, I would not comment as it depends heavily on the market situation at that time besides your own potential. Considering market is expected to improve in the coming years, your package could be higher than the median package which was offered this year.
so please tell the median package offered by IT sector.
Hey devil sorry for my ignorance didn't get the head n tail of what ur trying to explian me, its like u miss the main point what i am asking for and going round and round.
PS:what is this really relevant experince? Please explain that one and keep it simple this time.
Maybe I can try. But keep in mind what you've asked varies from company to company.
Let's say you are interested in a marketing role. And you have three years of experience in Infosys doing coding. In that case, there will not be much difference between freshers and ppl with work ex. In fact, some companies might prefer freshers for this role.
But let's say you've worked in sales/advertsing/market research for three years and a marketing company comes. then you'll be at an advantage to freshers (and the Infosys dude as well.)
Some companies (I've heard Wipro does this) might give a higher package to work ex ppl (arnd Rs. 50,000 more per year of experience) irrespective of the role in which you've worked.
I would actually say, don't worry about being a fresher, because it's an advanatge for some companies. And not too many ppl really have the kind of work ex to turn it into an advantage (unless they want to get into IT after an MBA). I think that, in a nutshell, is what Devilish Angel was trying to say.
FROM 09001-09100 14 WAIT LIST 3 CONFIRM 83 REJECTS {SET-1}
FROM 02001-02100 7 WAIT LIST 2 CONFRIM 91 REJECTES {SET-2}
FROM 08001-08100 11 WAITLIST 5 CONFRIM 84 REJECTES {SET-3}
TAKE THE SAMPLE SPACCE AGAIN 20 SETS LIKE THIS AT MAX 20 * 14 AT MAX = 280 WAITLIST AND NOT MORE THAN 120 CONFIRMED MEANS REST 6O NOT RELEASED ADDING TO THIS
THAT 60 WILL CLEAR WAIT LIST OF ATLEAST 100{40 MIGHT NOT TAKE)
AT WORST IT WILL CLEAR WAIT LIST OF 50
NEXT 120 ACC TO LAST YEAR TRENDS I GUESS 90% OF PEOPLE IN WAIT LIST GETS CLEARENCE STATUS
AND BFS as 1st prference 99% chance{given u show atleast a decent performance}
IB also same
HCM VERY DIFFICULT TO CRACK BCOZ OF HEAVY COMPETIOTION FROM THE CANDIDATES WHO WORTE HCM EXAM
And people who filled the spread sheet
175 entries of which 75 % at W/L appr 131 wait list
pagal guy will be seen by 70 % of people who are either selected/WL or in the worst case 50 % of which 60 % will fill the spread sheet so in worst case the number will be aroung 200 + 175 = 375 for sure W/L will not cross 400 or in worst case 450
250 can easily clear this
THIS WAY I GUESS WAIT LIST AT MAXIMUM EVEN IF WE SAY 30 PERSONS WAITLISTED FOR EVERY 100 WHICH IS NOT THE CASE
WE HAVE AT MAX WAIT LIST OF 275{+/- 10} THERFORE WONDERFUL CHANCE OF CLEARING THE WAITLIST AND PERSONS WHO ARE NOT THERE IN THE WAITLIST OF PGDM ALSO
So we will listen to many cheering faces even if we wiat till may 15th {may 10th no way they need to accumalate data of all who dont want to join a prepare the list and uplaoad it so + 5 days} so even if you its worth many people here will suerly be selected cheer up
Disclaimer My personal opinion puerly and is not intentional any sort of controversy with what is mentioned will not be taken up and it is up to the individual to take it :D
No. of sets not 20 , but atleast 90 if I take that spreadsheet as sample where about 150 entries havebeen done with 25 selected
then there are 2 cases
if there are 120 calls i.e. 20*6 then waitlisted candidates 120*6=720 (i have a gut feeling that no. of waitlisted candidates is 600)
secondly those who are in waiting list & opted for IB, BFS surely have a great chance of convert considering the fact that last year 2 waitlists of 120 students were eligible for admission to PGDM

Relevant Experience-> If you have experience in IT then you choose your major as Systems then you are a guy with RELEVANT JOB EXPERIENCE. Its called so since there is relevance form your old job, your specialisation and then the new job you will be taking out of your mba.
Although if you are from IT and want to go to HR then your previous work-ex (of IT) will not help you in HR so you are considered a newbie in the field and not a lateral.
Where as if you have relevant work-ex, which means your pre-mba joining work-ex has direct relation to your specialisation then and only then you are considered a lateral or a person who is not changing his FIELD OF EXPERIENCE and hence you have a sort-of advantage in most cases while negotiating your profile and package. This advantage is very subjective form person to person since not everyone wants to continue in the same line of work hence they are generally specified as newbies and not laterals.
To make things even more clear, look at it this way, If you are not changing your specialisation then you stand to gain because your future work has relevance to your present specialisation which has relevance to your Prior work-ex. Your undergraduate degree is relevant to your Work-ex which is relevant to your MBA specialisation which is relevant to your MBA job that you will get. YOU ARE in this case NOT SWITCHING FIELDS OF EXPERTISE.
All of this is true for all B-Schools in India and more so abroad.
EXAMPLE:-
B.tech -> IT company -> MBA systems -> IT company at higher profile and better pay.
(eg) b.tech->infosys -> MBA systems -> IT consultant (or some other good profile
BBA (marketing) -> MBA (Marketing) -> Marketing profile in some company
B.Com -> MBA (BFSI) or (Finance) -> banks, I-banks, loads of other stuff

2300 calls 1700(roughly attended) with this sample space i can say 900 WL calls and not 600 as u said or 300 as konchamishtam said.again getting into BFS is not that easy with many people having that as first preference and many looking at it getting into IB is easy now to say

Thanks for explaining.. but in my question i just want to know about the job profile by IT sector.. i don't where this fresher and exp things came. anyway thanks again for ur concern.:D

no of calls nearly 2600 and not 2300
i think number of people who attended will be atleast 2000.
and yeah, i personally think people who chose bfs (who wanted to do finance) made a very smart decision but i don't think enough people have given it their top choice. Even IB would have been a fair choice if information was given about it. like i said before after talking to prof.Rudran "we are chalking out finer details" in my find the IB course will be bent towards International Business (as told by sir himself) and International Marketing. most probably will be a good juggle between both.

I think attendance wont be more than 50-60%.
P.S. Lets leave this whole W/L discussion aside, we will come to know in another 5 days.

Okie sorry abt tht. saw Devilish's reply to u and someone else. Must have mixed up the two of u while quoting. I guess seniors would be in a better position to give these details. Sorry if my info was irrelevant.:splat:
Marketing Profile: FMCG companies have a 1 year MT (management trainee programme
Finance Companies also offered financial services marketing and Offerred Customer Relationship Manager (this is the same profile that Chetan Bhagat had described in the book Two States 😁 )

No of calls for your batch 2200-2300. How many attended- Not sure
Please do not speculate if you are not sure. We don't like moral policing, but please maintain some decorum of this thread.
And all this Gyan abt Placement,Specialization and others, you can PM to respective people.
I appreciate your enthusiasm about TAPMI and other MBA related stuff but please make sure you don't overdose it.
Please don't take this personally , its applicable for all of us.

You are mistaken total calls were 2334 (read TAPMI ) and one cant say abt absentees, bcoz ppl in mumbai say there were 50% students and in delhi ppl say 20-25% who did not attend GD-PI.
Others can also find information about the placements of 2008-10 batch and list of some recruiters in this TAPMI 2010 update. The median package was 7.0 and highest 9.3LPA.
There is information about BFS, IB, HCM courses also in this link. Its an official tapmi authority update, so its authentic too.
Unfortunately it does not contain info on the AICTE approval of the new courses (for same we have to wait till 10th or 15th MAY).

IT Companies: HR roles Functional consultant roles Domain consultant roles Business Analyst roles IT consulting roles
Hope this helps. PM me if you need further clarifications.
just to add,
In IT companies, Consultants and Associate Consultants roles were offered for all functional areas depending upon prior work experience & specialization .
If you have applied for PGDM but couldn't clear it and now plan to join PGDM-IB/PGDM-BFS/PGDM-HCM. If someone drops out from PGDM course later, next person in merit list be offered PGDM seat. Even if that candidate has taken admission in any other course ( Given he has applied to PGDM).
Good News!!!
Cheers
Hi Sandeep,Thanks for the update..just one small query : Will the college put up the merit list for the new courses or start the new courses only when it receives the AICTE approval . Or will they go just go ahead and by 15th come up with the list irespective of the AICTE approval ..Thanks in advance...

As of now, College will declare results for other courses after 15th with or without AICTE approval. But when you will receive your offer letter, it will be mentioned, whether college got AICTE approval for seats/programs or going ahead with Manipal University.
Again as we are no authority , please wait for official communication from college.

Hi Sandeep,
TAPMI was autonomous right. It wasn't under Manipal University. So is TAPMI or some courses in TAPMI going to be under Manipal University henceforth?

Hi,
TAPMI was/is autonomous college, B'coz TAPMI has not received approval for new courses till date, TAPMI is planning to put these courses under Manipal University (not sure). As you know govt approvals might take time.
But courses will be autonomous and curriculum will be designed by TAPMI only.
We are still not sure whether this will be temporary or permanent arrangement, Only college can comment on the same. But in future if we get approvals for new courses, things might change (Again not sure) !!!!
I would advise you to wait & watch, B'coz thats the only thing we can do:(
This is an Vital Information Formwhere all tapmi aspirants (selected and waitlisted) should fill in their information by doing which you will help yourself and everyone else in knowing the vital stats of the batch.
Click on the Link Below to Fill the quick-n-easy form. Promote the Web sheet as much as you can since it will help immensely
It its pretty diverse and one may choose to not answer all questions but since most of the questions are multiple choice hence one shouldn't take more than 3 mins of his time to fill it.
Let me know if there is any issue via pm - fellow aspirants and seniors alike.
I am attaching some snap-shots of it.
The information in the form will be made available to the people who fill the form and seniors only and the forms will be sent across every once in a while with each significant movement in number.
Nice initiative.. but i dont see a point why aspirants should fill up the vital information form. In case aspirants wants to interact with seniors or get to know their own batchmates they can do it at networking sites like Orkut and Facebook (groups for your batch have already been made). At this point where there is little clarity on the results and we have so few selected candidates, I dont know how vital stats of the batch can be known. Aspirants are advised to fill up the form and give information at your own risk. Neither TAPMI nor any of the students of TAPMI(seniors) take responsibility of the Vital information shared over the form. In case any such information is needed this can be done once you all join the college. You will have full 2 years to know your batchmates.
