Hi @tcs seniors
I also a got a placxement in tcs thru campus interview, also got one frm Accenture...
@Sk. Ashwhini Sir,
I really liked the comparison of the person u drew for IRMA one, wud like to you to o the same for Accenture & TCS...
Also, in one dillema, Accenture sd they will give joining in July itself, while TCS may be late, no one knows....so which to join if i get early call frm Accenture...
Also, one has a general perception that u have a greater oppurtunity to visit onsite places in foreign countries in TCS than any other company.... how true is that... I mean is it a farce or a reality...
Yes, I also hard TCS package has been increased to 3. * L PA, but no confirmations again till v get first salary
Heartfelt thanx to replies.....

Yes, I also hard TCS package has been increased to 3. * L PA, but no confirmations again till v get first salary

dear... in current scenario there is no confirmation of increased package of TCS. As per my info, u will be paid without variable pay during training so ur effective package will be around 2 lacs per month. after six month of training u will get package of 3.15 per annum. Though i am not sure of anything. your call letter will have everything. In case of TCS your joining may stretch beyond 2011. so be ready for that..
Now.. TCS and accenture...
Job security in TCS > Accenture
Job satisfaction in Accenture >TCS { if u love challenged}
Long term growth in Accenture >TCS...
Your onsite opportunity chance is more dependent on your luck and kind of project you get. around 2 years it will take in TCS min and may have to wait longer.
My view is accenture is better than TCS being an international company.
I.e TCS is a really good company with indian origin but on larger scale HCL and Accenture are better than TCS cause their standard are better and tougher...

Yes your pay would be peanuts during training period.
This policy was recently rolled out to cut costs and save money.
In our time during training they would pay out variable as though you had the highest possible rating!
Though i am not sure of anything. your call letter will have everything. In case of TCS your joining may stretch beyond 2011. so be ready for that..
You will be offered a joining date that is for sure, TCS wont cancel the offer.
The thing is you might not know when. Now, 6 months, could even be a year based on their needs.
I would recommend grab a job immediately. DONT wait for 6 months or more.
Ask for a confirmed date if considering TCS or take up Accenture IMMEDIATELY.
Or you could end up with NO jobs........
Job security in TCS > Accenture
Yes but the problem is most people end up ruining their careers in this job security business.
What he means by job security is that even if you do not have a project and idling you can get away by doing some support roles for your group even if not billable. They wont fire you unlike what might happen in Accenture.
The problem is that often people end up spending 2-3 yrs with NOTHING to put on their CV which in turn gets them stuck in TCS for a long time. And over a period of time personal / family responsibilities might come which would make it too risky to switch jobs and eventually you might end up being very unhappy but stuck with TCS.
This happens more often than you can imagine.
Job satisfaction in Accenture >TCS { if u love challenged}
Accenture is very efficient at billing you. So you would end up doing some form of work / career / skill enhancement and the environment is very challenging, no sucking up to bosses for a better appraisal without having to work....
Long term growth in Accenture >TCS...
Eventually move into Acc Consulting join the Global Delivery team and move onto an international office.
The clients are better, work is more top notch and you would definitely end up getting a lot of exposure.
Your onsite opportunity chance is more dependent on your luck and kind of project you get. around 2 years it will take in TCS min and may have to wait longer.
Nothing can be more true than this statement.
This applies not just for onsite opportunities but for even getting a project and something you like.
TCS can give you a lot of onsite opportunities as well, so can Accenture depending on needs.
But there is a greater chance of being stuck in India if you are an employee of Accenture India since it is primarily a backoffice for Global offices. You would end up servicing teams that are based in other geographies.
If onsite opportunities are your priority then Accenture India might not be what you want.
But trust me being in TCS for over two years and having being sent across countries such as UK, US, APAC and Middle East I can tell you one thing....... TCS onsite policies are very poor.
You would be expected to drop everything in your personal life and travel in a notice period of under a week for extended periods, that too with no scope of taking your wife / dependents along (unless the project runs > 6 months).
My view is accenture is better than TCS being an international company.
I personally am moving out of TCS myself into an international office of Accenture as a local employee there (would never join Accenture India since I want client facing roles).
The red tapisim, policies and crappy approval processes of TCS have played a major role in this.
(If you have to travel somewhere for a project it is your responsibility to get in touch with 5-6 people who you dont know and who have no idea about your existence or your project to request them with Dear Sir emails to approve your travel. It is as if it is your responsibility to follow up on official company travel........ Trust me you have to be in TCS to know what I am talking about).
TCS is a great place to work for and learn the ropes and then move on. It has taught me everything I know and I am very grateful for that. Just do not get stuck there permanently..... build some skills, know when to get out and remember that "greater the risk, greater the return" (the career jump will benefit you for sure).
I believe Accenture global offices would be the ideal platform to enhance my career. Though expect your personal life to go for a toss due to the extensive travelling (5 days a week out of your base location, flyback during weekends at home are offered by Accenture unlike TCS!).
Accenture India is not something I would join (maybe when I was a fresher I would) because I just have to get client facing roles and cannot get stuck in a backoffice.
@Faelle....
Thanks for elaborating My views... it is hell pain to type this long so i left it short...
And to add all...
I HAVE BEEN SO FRUSTRATED WITH TCS THAT I RESIGNED AFTER 18 MONTH OF MY SERVICE.... in March 2010.....
@ S.K Ashwini Sir & @ Falelle,
Thanks a ton!! for your fantastic comparison that will surely help me in making a good choice, if not the best.....
Though I got the view prima facie, I would want a little more advice (sorry, again !!!).... Point is my ultimate destination is MBA, I gave attempt this year got a decent percentile & calls frm papers other than CAT, but converts none so far ..... Also, I get an impression that Accenture is better than TCS, but TCS has office in Noida & Gurgaon, close to my home in Delhi. Since I wish to prepare fr MBA again, do you think is it worthwhile to join Accenture in Mumbai, Bangalore and sacrifice my prep (atleast sum what)...or for Company sake shud I join Accenture only???.......
Wud be really really grateful for some pearls of advices....... Thanx again !!!
Hi All,
Could some one help me in understanding how the designations are defined in TCS and how long it takes to move from one level to the next (especially from ITA to Assistant Consultant) also how much salary can someone with 5 years of experience expect in TCS?
Also can some one provide the same information for Infosys/Wipro.
Hi,
I have 6.5 years IT experience and 2.2 years non IT experience. I joined Infosys as fresher and has stuck with infosys for 6.5 years and I am a TL (Technology lead) that is the new designation as per the org structure (it sucks) I have got a offer from TCS as a IT analyst.
The HR told me that 5-7 years is IT analyst and they are offering 37% percent hike. Do you think its a good bid??. Please suggest, Thanks.

tcs office is in noida and gurgaon but will u get your placement there... not sure... seconde thing is u will have a six month training at training center across india none of which is in delhi...so to join TCS on this basis is of no use. since the joining will be late so u will lose valuable month...
Now to prep for MBA.. once you join job.. preparation get bit difficult... so... however experience count... so u can join job as well... waise dear.. CAT is in NOV, TCS will send joining in july at earliest... and six month training nt in delhi...will make same change as in Accenture....
My suggestion will be join Accenture.. finish training as early as possible... and then gear up for CAT.... All the best....

One more question how is the work timelines in TCS? In Infosys we have to compulsorily log 9.15 every day on avaerage for the whole year. Is there anything like that in TCS? Also is there anything called Certification in TCS, In Infosys we have to complete 2 certifications every year 😞

working timeline is 9 hour everyday which can be more or less on the basis of your self descipline, project, and how u handle your boss.... certification and web based training are again project dependent
