hi bblorekar,

Read this - will be interesting for you Tata Group TCS | Media reports Brilliance, by any degree.

As a fresher dont bother about money.... look at the opportunity.... I am a BSc too started my career with 6k a month 5 yrs back...... now I can assure you its a lot better.... better than what most of my friends (who joined NIT/REC after 12 th)get in the big companies....

So go ahead, raise your chin and battle your path towards success...forget this B.Sc/B.E thing in the long run its experience that matters.

TCS/Infy and Wipro all are hiring fresher B.Sc. dont look at salary apply for all three take the first that makes the offer.

Cheers,
ID

Thanks a lot. btw i know my surname is a bit complicated. my name is Neeraj....neways thanks a lot. can u also brief me abt he nature of the work n whether we have to sign a bond, etc...

TCS has Designations in this manner:
Assistant Systems Analyst (ASA) -> Systems Analyst (SA) -> Assistant Consultant (AST) -> Associate Consultant (ASC) -> Consultant -> Senior Consultant -> Principal Consultant

It takes 3 years to jump from one level to next one considering a standard rating of 3+.

Your list is missing IT analyst - is it the same as System Analyst. Is my understanding correct that as ASA you need 4 yrs and thereafter all grades it takes 3?

Nitin Not sure if you missed this, TCS also has a IT Analyst (Business Analyst) designation. I am joining TCS as a IT analyst by febInddutt Are you joining TCS? If so when?RegardsSri

Hi Sri, I am intending to join by End of March. Did you hear anyfurther from HR about the designations? Please keep in touch and let me know how your first day goes there.

ASA is same as ASE and SA is same as ITA.. just that former ones are the desgnations for MBAs and latter ones are for BEs..from AST onwards, the chain is common. Ans yes, it takes 4 yrs to become ITA/SA and 3 yrs further.

TCS does have Business Analyst Positin also but a rare one. I am already in TCS Bangalore.

Thanks Nitin..Does this mean that a fresher regular MBA guy (no matter which inst) will join as an ASA and then in four years time become a SA? Also any idead about the range of payscales?

Good to know you are from bangalore. I am supposed to join the L-Centre building... just wanted to check what is the speciality of this bldg why is it called L-Centre and does it have amenities like gym etc..

Inddutt, I would be going to the TCS office at SJM building tomorrow to collect my original offer letter. I would speak to the HR then..RegardsSri

Iam a final year BE student and have placement offers from both Infosys and TCS, please advise which company should i join, which offers better growth opportunities.

Be aware TCS has started the salary cut......All employees salaries will be reduced from Feb / March.......about 20% reduction........Look for other job

and the period for ASE to ITA promotion is to be raised to 5 years it seems.

Yup its true .. here's the authentic link TCS cuts staff salaries in tune with tough times- ITeS-Infotech-The Economic Times

but does not bother me much as its still better than making 6 days working etc. which other big Indian companies might adopt.

Dude that salary cut (19.5% to be precise) is only on the variable performance allowance and not on the basic and other variable components related to basic.

And moreover new joinees don't have a performance component in their salary so it wont effect them anyway.

So effectively 19.5% of your performance allowance is a miniscule amount compared to the in-hand salary you will be getting every month coz the variable allowance in turn is a small component of the overall salary. And even after this paltry cut, the salary of a TCSer is at least 50-60k more than his peer at Infosys or Wipro.

Take my example, I've completed almost a year and 4 months in TCS and my package is INR 3.9 LPA after appraisal. Consider my friends who joined Infosys/Wipro and that too a couple of months before me...their salaries are in the range of 3-3.3 LPA after their appraisals. SO they earn at least 60k less than me.

PS:- Me and my friends...all of us joined the above companies as a fresher.

Is the cut not on your total 'Performance Allowance'? Or is Performance allowance sub classified into company and individual performance and the cut is only on comany performance?

The cut is on the total performance allowance but the percentage has been determined by company's performance in the quarter.

The salary cut for me is 5200 out of a total package of 3.89 lpa so that's just 1.33% of my annual salary...nothing to fret dude.

Correct me if I am wrong ... 5200 is what they are going to cut in total in jan,feb and mar...i.e. 5200/3 per month..?

Or is it 5200 per month?

Also, what do you see the chances of a six day working regime being enforced.. if Dollar continues to depriciate?
