i am a mechanical engineer and placed in ACCENTURE recently

and ACCENTURE told us they are in association with ISB and IIM-B for mba programmes work while u study:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:


my questions are
:

1.should i go for accenture or MBA in IIMS /IITS

2.should i go for accenture or MBA in any college immediately

3.i am total dumb in technical and gods grace we had only HR interviews so i
was through .so can i with stand in accenture my academics are good i am a fast learner but i hate to end my lyf in coding .so should i join accenture or not?

4.how will be the training in accenture i mean duration and any elimination exams and wat will be the training all about ?

5.and that mba programmes in ACCENTURE ... i heard they were offered to senior level management ! is it so can u temme the proceedings ? and if so how many yrs for propmotion and how to get promoted ?

6.can a mechanical engineer who hates coding !!!!!!!!!!! will he survive in accenture ?

7. last query i heard learing a foreign language will take u to foreign easily is it so ?

Lets go one by one here

1. I think this question should be answered by you and you only. I prefer going in for an MBA with some work ex behind you because I believe it helps. You can think otherwise . Think about these choices yourself. You can ask for certain information from others but the decision has to be yours

2. Same as above

3. You will end your life in coding !!!! Dont be so pessimistic !!
Since you are fast learner , I believe you should not have too many problems regarding handling in an IT company. Atleast I never felt that in TCS and have never heard from my friends(TCS, Infy, Wipro, Accenture...etc) that they faced any such major problems.
BTW, when you say technical I hope you the computer science and not your mechanical concepts .

5. Yes, most of the MBA programmes that are offered are for mid/senior management level professionals. So if thats what you are aiming at then it take quite some time for you to reach that level (not less than 5 years). But I say you better check with HR or whoever in accenture to get a much clearer picture

6. Its not just coding that is done in IT. There is other kinds of projects as well. And coding is a very inappropriate word because you are writing the fibonacci sequence there. Its far bigger than that.

7. Not really. But you will be at an advantage .

I got selected in TCS under campus selection. They've given me the offer letter which says my designation will be Assistant systems Engineer Trainee and my package is 3.16 lpa.
Please somebody tell me how my salary will unfold and when and how much increments will I get.
Also please tell if I should undergo any course beforehand joining the company as I am from Elex and Telecomm.

Sorry if such queries are already solved in earlier posts but I was looking answers for myself specifically. I would be very humble if you soothe my curiousity. :)



I do not see how this is so specific . Nyway

You join as a Assistant Systems Engineer- Trainee. After a year of working, you are Assistant Systems Engineer. This is called the confirmation process and happens in the first year. After which you get a hike which is independent of your first year performance rating. The amount has differed from batch to batch. Like people who joined in 2006 had their salary nearly double( from 2.2x lpa to 3.88 lpa).
We, thanks to the recession did not get any hike after a year although our designation was now ASE( read above). But after March 2010, there was a hike which was dependent on rating and then another hike in July (cuz thats wen we completed 2 years of exp)which was also rating dependent. People who were top performers (A-band) had new sal. around 4.5 lpa, good performers(B-band) had around 4.1 lpa and hence forth for C (around 3.8 lpa)and D band(around 3.6 lpa). People in E band (the most hopelessly low performers get this.....or if you manage to put up a fight with your boss and his boss) get a deduction in salary as their variable pay component is removed ..

There is no need for any specific preparation

I do not know about the training modules in accenture
But in TCS they train you one of the following
1. Java/J2EE
2. C/C++

etc

Hello everyone ! I got through the campus recruitment tests of TCS and HCL Technologies. I want to ask about the work culture, growth prospects and stability of jobs in both TCS and HCL Technologies.

I would like to prepare for CAT even if I join any one of these companies. I would like to make an informed decision keeping in mind all that you might suggest.

TCS is better as in its bigger than HCL and hence has a better brand name

Lets go one by one again...

1. Package is fine.....try and get a break up of your salary and estimate how much in-hand you are going to get. CTC looks fine.

2. You would obviously know that C,C++ is applicable more in telecom than Banking domain (Java/J2EE is more prevalant here). And Mumbai has more pronounced Fin Services clients. But then since Mumbai is a big revenue generator and the HQ you should get ample opportunities for onsite. Although there are other factors like kind of project, kind of boss, kind of team members, the rapport you build and blah blah blah ....

3. Not really very sure of this. Salary seems fine. You might want to check with other guys on this.

BTW, I believe you would have joined as an ITA (that is a designation ) and hoping that you become a lead in whatever project you land up ( Team Lead is your role and its different from your designation). You might want to check up with TCS asking them if they are really looking for team members or team lead roles . Generally people with 5+ years exp have desigantion as ITA and role as Team Lead .....

Your designation is commensurate with your experience , so that is fine. (Assuming that you are joining as an ITA)

I do not know about the relocation thing. You might want to ask the HR or the concerned person about this.

I got selected in campus hiring by TCS as an assistant systems analyst wid 4.75l package..m a fresher mba..they said that we may be ASAs in the BPO division of TCS and our work will be same as IT...I want to know whether we ll be at a disadvantage if put in their BPO arm??? :lookround:
And will there be any salary increase wen we will join as we ll be joining in the next financial year??

I am not very sure of the BPO division. But you will NOT have any salary increase when you join even though you will be joining in the next financial year

CTC of 9 lpa is good. But just for info's sake Mumbai has a high cost of living so expenditure tends to be higher. Otherwise the deal is fine.

Onsite opportunities are dependent on various parameters like stage of the project, team size, client demands, technology domain (yours is Siebel CRM ).
Hope you get an onsite under today's stiff circumstances ......

Onsite Opportunity depends on various parameters ....read the previous post for that

Not Really. We are askd to prioritize amongst 3 choices. Then based on availibility we are assigned. Generally we get our 1st or 2nd choice.
