TCS Recruitment : Jobs, Salary, Interview Questions

Some one please educate me on this. What are the positions and salary to be expected at TCS/Infosys/Cognizant post MBA from a reputed b school @ mumbai(features within top 15 in pg rankings).

Hello Seniors,

My question is whether to join TCS as ITA with 7.75 package, and currently on 5.7 L.

I have 4.5 years exp in Infy but after 4 yrs, I entered into full time MS and MBA in finance from US. Post completion, I came back and found hard to get a job and landed up in finance shared services, doing excel finance reporting excel/ppt work (no business exposure/no industry inclination), which I believe is to continue for next 4 yrs and then I will enter junior management level (ast mgr). I am also US CFA level II candidate. While working in IT for 4 yrs, I was in mainframes technology and currently finding lot of demand for it. Distressed of not able to get calls for Business analyst/associate consultant roles, I appeared for walk ins in mainframes and cleared those. Now, I have the offer letter and thinking if I can jump in as ITA and try to make my way to business analyst roles within TCS. Is it possible?

Thanks for reading this and your opinions would be appreciated. :cheerio:

What you are asking is very vague.
Salary and position depends on many factors.
1. The B school
2. The candidate...his specialization, workex background, performance in bschool ( to an extent ).
3. The profile for which they are looking to hire.

On top of it, the company which is hiring ...!!!

@technofunction
I am just chronologically confused with the first 4 lines that you have written.
Coming to your question, YES. You can take up the ITA designation and have a BA role.
This is very much possible in TCS. I had seen quite a few ITA people who were having BA role.

Hope this helps..

Chrono order: 2004-08: infy; 08-10: MBA and 10-till now: working in support services

Currently TCS has told me for tech lead role and not BA. This is coz I appeared for mainframes interview. Shall I take your YES as I can join as tech lead and later move into BA role as it is very optional in TCS OR should I currently try to negotiate for BA role with HR and they might make it happen now and it is difficult to change later?

Love the way you have put the chrono order !!! very terse ...
You can move from a tech lead role to a BA role. That's not unheard of. But its better if you can negotiate with the HR . Nothing like getting a BA role straightaway...

m not an mba but from what i have seen from people around, i can say that you do not need to learn any programming language or concepts .

Joining date will be mentioned in your offer letter. As far as location is concerned , the initial location will be mentioned in your offer letter. The subsequent location where you will working will given to you during your training.
Look at your profile. You will not need any programming language skills at all. Its not a prerequisite for any management trainee.

my friend has a work-ex of 15 months in TCS with an annual pkg of 3.15 lpa...he left it for nmims with specialisation in marketing....wat salary can he expect after graduating from the college...will it be a good option to join TCS again considering from the annual salary point of view?? Or should he join some other company?

@ashutosh1987
Hmm....this is interesting.
See, the point here is that we do not know what will happen after 2 years. Who knows in what specific area of marketing he might find his interest in ?
TCS is not exactly where the marketing grads tend to go. But in NMIMS if TCS is the one offering the better profiles for marketing grads (i really doubt this though !!! ) then no harm in coming back to TCS.
He has to understand where his marketing specialization is going to suit him. You can join the Marketing division of McKinsey , but that would not make any sense. I know somebody who is a MDI grad in core marketing and joined P&G; after grad. That makes sense.

Hope this helps...

I suggest going to the US because that is where the business essentially lies and a working experience there can be leveraged later on effectively. Although the Dubai option appears lucrative and hassle-free , I think the US is worth it. You are lucky enough to get an US long term onsite , do not squander it away just because the other option looks easy. Utilize the location advantage that you are getting here.
AFAIK, TCS pays your Indian salary. I would not know if they changed some policy to affect that.

Hope this helps..

Hey, TCS India Salary is based on the policies of the countries you are travelling to.

For US you do not get the India salary, you only get your US salary(mentioned in your client invite letter)

However in Europe and Canada , you India salary continues along with your renumberations in Europe and Canada.

For UK, the rules have changed from Last April, In UK, your Indian salary is converted into the respecting pounds and is paid to you in UK, along with your UK renumerations.

Hope this helps.:cheerio:

Not sure about this buddy. maybe you can refer to the proper NMIMS thread here on PG.

I'm 2011 passing out batch.Final semester going to complete in May.
I got joining letter from TCS on yesterday.
My ILP place at Trivandrum, starting on 4th July.
Happy as I yearned to visit Kanyakumari,Munnar & Allepey.

TCS seniors,Plz share your ILP exp.@Trivandrum.

@ssudipta90
Congrats !!! One of the few posts on this thread where I would not be able to provide any input as I had mine in the virgin location of Guwahati.
Not too sure if this is where you would like to post it...maybe you can post it in a more relevant thread.
Anyway, hope somebody bumps across your post and gives his/her input...
Congrats again for bagging TCS !!!

Congrats Dude,

And congos again on getting trivandrum as your ILP..Few guys (these days) have the previledge of getting trivandrum as their PAID HOLIDAY destination..

The best part is after 5 days of work, you would hardly stay in trivandrum over a single night

Just be part of some good group with nice enthu people on board.

We never slept in trivandrum over a single weekend for 2 months straight..

We always used to sleep in buses on friday nights and used to return on Monday Morning..

The best part is even if you dont have a holiday ..you could just take a bus to Kovalam beach or Valley..(And kovalam is an internationally acclaimed beach so ...its just beautiful)

You can cover the whole of Kerala and lot of Tamilnadu if u are hip enough.

Rest all will depend on your enthusiasm and of course your group..

So chill out..and have a great time.. All the best..:thumbsup:
