Australia ... huh a famous cricketing nation but not just that it turns out to be a fav. destination for indian students.
Well, indian students go there b'cause australia attracts them thru it's easy PR(Permanent Residency Policy) .U only have to notch up 120 points which u can get thru
2 years of study in australia : 60 points
Your IELTS exam : 30 points
Your age if
5 points u get for giving an exam called as Hindi-English or English -hindi this is conducted by Naati
5 points u get for course u choose
5 points u get for studying in regional australia ...
Well what is regional australia these are areas other than Sydney,Melbourne,Wollongong,Perth,Adelaide,Briasbane
Ok all written above is accepted but the catch is from 1st Jan 2005 there will be a major change in rules with ALP(Australia Labour Party) coming to power there.
Well they would make PR applicable for those only who have studied from regional australia.
Regional australia situation is bad rather, their situation is like our villages...
Jobs leave fulltime jobs part timers are difficult to get...
And regrading MBA from australia it is strict no no... Common why do u wanna do that if u stilll want to go to downunder go 4 it courses.
Job prospects for mba are 0 to be frank... who would choose a foreigner for economy when he has a native guy at hand...

and also IDP people they are good but they dunn tell u these hard facts...

Yes, you make a lot of sense here.
Most students I know who went to Oz, went there cos getting PR was easy, it still is. The worst time, I've heard is when u've graduated and waiting for PR to come thru, cos only then will employers look at you, that time students are known to have been working as watchman, bartender, waiter, call centre etc.
Anyways, PR was a big draw for desis to Aus, if the new party comes in to power n turns things around then it might be a big problem. In any case, i'd wait for concrete changes to take place rather than believe hearsay, for all one knows PR policy could be on for years to come.
oh yeah..i did ask many ppl abt Aus Univ and for me MBA or ne other degree is a strict no no coz its no point investing abt 15 lacs for and gettin peanuts..
much better but more reliable and definetly tuf is US..even Canada sounds better than australia
Hi
Seems tht mba from australia aint very much recommended by many ... can someone tell me how good is doing Masters in mayb computer science or IT field from australia ... ??? i have heard of many ppl going for masters from australia .. cud b many factors .... just wanted to knw your views guys ...
Post in wht u think .... Technical masters from australia good enuf ??
I think an Australian MBA is not that bad for several reasons:
(1) Better education quality than the IIPMs of India for sure.
(2) Internation exposure. Not just in terms of your classmates but also in terms of your living experience.
(3) Good VFM. Ofcourse compared to the US and UK MBAs.
(4) From what I gather, at the end of the day you do get a PR (through some struggle).
I can probably come up with a half a dozen more reasons. If you are at a career stage where MBA from the premier instis in India is not clicking and you have the moolah to spare, its not at all a bad proposition I think.

I think IELTS is the exam one needs to take for studies in Australia ... ne other thing tht needs to be done ?
Also is the application process same as the in US ??? i mean do we need to apply by sept / oct 2005 for the 2006 term ... i m trying to gather info from the sites as well but thot let me post here as well ... something more i can gather ...

The easiest way to research and apply for studying in Australia is to do it thru IDP.. so start your search at http://www.idp.com/ i'd say..
australian PR and immigration rules have changed a lot in the recent years, and the change hasn't stopped, to go by what their current politicians are saying.. so be careful - keep checking the latest rules while you apply.
as for salary levels - it varies ofcourse.. for IT work at private companies, starting salaries are between 60-70,000 A$ a year.. 30% of which goes to the taxman.

Go to the nearest IDP in your city to get info on the colleges. Collate a list of questions like the ones you have asked and try getting the answers from them. Seek the email ids of alums of the instis that offer the courses you want to do and get a more realistic picture from them.
As someone said in the bible. Seek and you shall find :)

I am an electrical engineer having 3 years experience as a software developer in the banking & financial services domain. i am very keen on a career shift to finance & had applied to RMIT University Australia for their Masters in Finance program.
Now, RMIT is a pretty reputed university in the domain of technical education..but am not very sure of their Department of Finance's credentials. It would be really great if you could guys throw some light on the Masters in Finance program @ RMIT. Looking forward to hearing from you all. Thanx in advance!!

Hi guys....
They provide a degree called "MASTER OF BUSINESS ADVANCED" (duration 2 years)
2)RMIT University,Melbourne
It offer Masters Of Business(Information Technology) of 2 years duration.
3)University Of Wollongong
I had a chat with the representatives from this university and they were the ones who told me that a simple MBA degree would not fetch me good job offers in Australia. As I already have a Bachelors Of Technology(IT) and 2 years work exp in IT,they suggested me to go for a course called-Master Of Information & Communication Technology Advanced(duration 2 yrs)..According to them this course is in high demand in Australia.
4)Deakin University,Melbourne
The representative from this university suggested me to go for a combined course of Master of Information Technology/Master Of Business Administration(International)(duration of 2 years).
The representatives from this university suggested me to take up a course which clubs IT and Business together rather than just an MBA ,the course name is Master Of Marketing Global Leasdership Program(2 yrs).
Please let me know if anyone has any info regarding these programs.
Any ABC school in any country is worthless, be it India or US.
Any good school in any country is priceless ... provided you too work hard to absorb it, get maximum out of it.
You join a full time course, work in the night club and sleep in the class ... and still complain!!
