Clarification regarding the documents that are to be sent

1. 10th, 12th and graduation marksheets self-attested by the candidates.

2. CAT 2017 admit card.

3. Category certificate (applicable if applying through a category other than general) as per annexure mentioned in the handbook of information which is accessible on the UBS admissions website.

4. Character certificate issued by the institute last attended.

* Final year students can send in mark sheets of all the semesters they have cleared thus far.

* If incase you don't have a character certificate and your college is not issuing one, you can ask for a Bonafide instead.

* Final year students can present the Character Certificate/ Bonafide at the time of admission if they don't have one now.

* If you don't have a copy of the CAT admit card, you can send the rest of the documents and make sure that the CAT registration number is mentioned on your application form. At the time of admission, you will have to submit a copy of your CAT scorecard as a substitute to the admit card.

The ROI game

Any candidate willing to pursue masters in business administration cannot ignore the evident investment required for it. When you look at MBA as an investment, it becomes important to consider the costs and the ROI(return on investment).

What all comes under this investment?

First and the foremost is the tuition fee. With the cost of an MBA touching the skies, it certainly burns a big hole in your pocket. Especially when the money invested has been borrowed from the banks and other financing institutions.

To understand it better let us take an example of two aspirants Marc and Anna. Both of them prepared for the holy exam called ‘CAT’, such a cute name for something which gives you nightmares :D!

Both were able to get a great cat score and hence converted many good Bschools. Now Marc was always clear about which Bschool to opt for so he went on to take up UBS, Chandigarh.

On the other hand. Anna was confused and capricious about the B-School selection.

Anna finally decided to go to a popular Bschool of Delhi, let’s call it IPI Delhi. Sounds familiar right? Anyway!

The total tuition fee for two years is 15.5 Lakhs. She explores the various options from where she can get a loan. She finds out the rate of interest is 10% (floating). Also, she plans to start the repayment after the completion of her MBA. Now, considering 15.5L is disbursed in two instalments. At the end of two years, the total amount due is 15.5L (Loan) + 2.32L (interest).

If Anna plans to repay the amount in 5 years, the EMI turns out to be 37820 @10%pa wherein the interest payable is 4.8L. So the total payment turns out to be around 22L.

Phew! That’s when Anna managed the cost of living (3.5L) all by herself. By the way, Anna was very diligent and competitive throughout the 2 years and managed a decent package of 13 LPA which is above the average package of the popular Bschool. Now she gets around 90k as in hand salary and after deducting 40k as the instalment of the loan she is still left with 50k. Great isn’t it? Oh! btw Marc also managed to get a package of 10lpa and his in hand salary is 70k with no dues!  Recently on a phone call between Anna and Marc, Anna was heard saying: Ye bik gyi hai gormint. (Now you know Anna Don’t you?)

Well, talking about the cost of living, with the majority of the B-schools in tier 1 cities, the cost of accommodation is certainly a factor which needs consideration.

A prestigious Bschool located in Mumbai charges somewhere around 2LPA as the boarding and lodging charges.  And the popular Bschool, PMT, of Ghaziabad charges 1.5LPA for the hostel facilities and even more surprising is the fact that it is strictly mandatory for an outsider to take up the hostel facilities. No wonder the term ‘residential program’ is deceiving.

Third and the last is the salary lost by the working professionals in these 2 years. It is worthy to think about that in case one is already earning a handsome salary. Nobody would want to end up in a situation where he is earning equal or slightly more than the previous job with an additional instalment to pay.

Hence it is very important to make an informed decision at this point as it will affect the next 5 years of your life. Possibly even longer! Because it is important to know where you see yourself 10 years down the line.

why ubs form is so costly 3300 and why are they closing application before cat result this time.

Why Chandigarh??
