Hello All,
Mark Lockwood, Director, Admissions would be traveling to India during Nov 18-25. Try and reach out to him to garner first-hand info about the Illinois MBA. Good Luck.
Hi All,
Hope ur applications are coming along well! I know this is a difficult waiting phase that can be excruciating. But for those who have got interview invites, congratulations! You must have received interview details from the Illinois MBA….Mark would be in New Delhi for interviews on Nov. 19, 20. Interviews in Mumbai will be on Nov. 21, 22 and finally some interviews on Nov. 23, before the adcom team flies back. You can cite my name (DJ) for reference to Mark. Having said that, this is not the end of interview rounds. The team is in the midst of application review and subsequently candidates might be invited for interviews over Skype. I wish u all good luck with interviews. Do let me know if u need any other info!
Best,DJ

Hi DJ
Greetings. I hope you are doing great.
I request you to kindly answer my following doubt:
I applied to UIUC in R1 but I was mailed that my application was incomplete. I submitted the required document; but, I haven't got any confirmation regarding completion of my application. My doubt is am I at disadvantage because I submitted incomplete application?
Eagerly waiting for your reply.
Thanks & Regards
Vivek Bhamare
Hi DJ
HI DJ
Kindly let me know the average GMAT required for admissions. I know I can check the website but normally its way higher than that mentioned on the official website. My gmat score is 630
Thanks
Monal
@ ALL
I had applied by R1 deadline, but to the delayed submission of test scores, i had my interview yesterday only. Does anyone have an idea about the results declaration date for Round 1?
From what i see, people have got their admission decisions just after 3-4 days of their i/v ..
Hi @DJ_UIUC ,
Well I am taking the pains for posting here so that it might be helpful for atleast a few people.
I am not here to criticize but tell you the ground reality.
UIUC is an amazing world class university, no doubt. Great infrastructure and good faculty, yes.
My suggestions do not apply to the following class of people:
If you are looking to somehow settle in the US by hook or by crook, if you have lots of money and dont know where to spend, you inherit huge family business in India and would come back to that, if you are a techie and want to make a career in hi-tech company in technology given your IIT background, if you have big time connections in corporate India to get you a great job whenever you wish to return.
I am writing here for those who:
Can get admissions in one of the top 30 MBA college in India. Who relies on job in India or the US and doesnt have anything to fall back on. Very very importantly those who want to make a career in pure management, marketing or finance roles in BFSI/FMCG/Consulting etc. Those who want to return to India in few years post MBA.
Rest assured almost 99% of the MBA guys from tier-2 schools like UIUC get into IT. You wont ever ever get a job in pure marketing in any non technology area. You wont get into finance or consulting firms in pure finance/financial sales or management consulting roles. Another aspect, which many fail to understand that getting a good job and decent pay in the India once you return is a nightmare. Most HRs and managers dont have a clue except for Harvard and Stanford. They would rate any ICFAI MBA or even an **** more highly than any US MBA especially outside the top 6-7 US programs.
Not to say that US economy is still in tatters and getting a visa is almost impossible except in IT roles. Secondly the pay you would get in India on your homecoming would be far less than otherwise obtained having done an MBA here. And last but not the least, the biggest fear and brouhaha from the very first day is attending career fairs and networking and finding a job. There is no concept of placements, forget about 100% placement the way it happens in India.
Sorry for a long post. I am sure it will help a few. Others please avoid. This is my first hand experience and I am not a critic. Every word here is from my experience and several others I know.
Hi
I have been offered a seat at UIUC FT MBA program and at the HKU FT MBA Program in the LBS track. I want to pursue MBA in HR. Could you please comment on which university I should pick.
