Leprosy continues to haunt India, social stigma remains
ØLeprosy is a chronic disease caused by Mycobacterium leprae. It usually affects the skin and peripheral nerves. Disease has long incubation period generally 5-7 years
ØIt is leading cause of permanent physically disability- timely diagnosis can prevent permanent disability
ØLeprosy is effectively cured with MDT ( Multi Drug Therapy since 1985. With the help of WHO, india started providing MDT free of cost to affected people from 1993-2004
ØNational Leprosy Eradication program was launched in 1983
ØIn polio- India celebrating victory
ØLeprosy- overpowered in 2005 ( having less than 1 patient per 10000 population) but now it has come back to haunt Government
ØLast Year 12305 child cases reported, 16 states and all UTs has shown increase in no. of cases
ØIn 2011-12 total of 1.27 lac cases ( Annual New case detection rate ANCDR of 10.35 which was 10.48 in 2010-11)
ØIndia account for 58 % of world cases ( Highest)
ØThe burden of the disease is highest among the Scheduled Castes (18.40 per cent) and Scheduled Tribes (15.83 per cent)
ØUnder the 11th Five Year Plan, leprosy services were being provided through the PHC with general health staff.
ØAs against 642 districts, there are only 369 sanctioned posts of District Leprosy Officers, remaining districts are managed by the District Programme Officer, who also works for other programmes.

Paper I - (200 marks) Duration: Two hours
- Current events of national and international importance
- History of India and Indian National Movement
- Indian and World Geography - Physical, Social, Economic geography of India and the World.
- Indian Polity and Governance €“ Constitution, Political System, Panchayati Raj, Public Policy, Rights Issues, etc.
- Economic and Social Development €“ Sustainable Development, Poverty, Inclusion, Demographics, Social Sector Initiatives, etc.
- General issues on Environmental ecology, Bio-diversity and Climate Change - that do not require subject specialization
- General Science.
Paper II- (200 marks) Duration: Two hours
- Comprehension
- Interpersonal skills including communication skills
- Logical reasoning and analytical ability
- Decision making and problem solving
- General mental ability
- Basic numeracy (numbers and their relations, orders of magnitude etc.) (Class X level), Data interpretation (charts, graphs, tables, data sufficiency etc. -Class X level)
- English Language Comprehension skills (Class X level).

yaar polity ke hisab se to imp nahi hai but may be asked from history point of view

200/400 marks if you secure..then you are through .....

prelims is just the sceening test..no role of it after clearing prelims....but mains + interviews are needed to make the final list....till now 2000 marks for MAINS and 300 marks for INTERVIEW...so its highly important to do well in MAINS :)

nahi yaar, last year suna hai kai 210 walon ka bhi nahi hua, cut off was definitely 210+ in CSE 2012

hmm...depends upon the test takers...whatever may be the number of test takers....top 10000 will be eligible for MAINS....

We should start in well defined manner-like History,then geography and so on..

lets just go in series with the syllabus ... history - geo - polity - economics-envt/ecology

lets fix some time daily .. i say see u all at 8 for modern history ..... on light notes lets begin modern history ....
