there would be change in MAINS pattern only....may be in selecting electives :)

Long time no see, huh! So, UPSC has ditched us regarding 2013 notification.
Sorry for that info about notification coming out last saturday. OK, my bad! Looks like the union govt & UPSC are at loggerheads regarding changes with one wanting to give a year's time and wait till elections are over and the other wants changes right away. Looks like UPSC is winning guys. Let's hope that doesn't happen.
Anyways we can expect the notification this Saturday as employment news for the coming fortnight will be out on that day.
Looks like our thread has been closed but there are two other threads for civils. So, lets continue our discussion there.

Ø Service Tax - Amnesty Scheme announced for voluntary filing of returns & payment of dues
Ø Negative List: Two more services added; Service tax levied on air-conditioned restaurants
Ø Excise duty on SUVs hiked to 30%; Duty on marble hiked; Mobile phones prices above Rs 2000 to attract 6% duty; to be brought under MRP Scheme
Ø Customs Baggage Rules: Duty-free allowance hiked to Rs 50,000 for male pax; Rs 1 lakh female pax
Ø Duty hiked on motor cycles above 800 CC
Ø Import duty on raw silk hiked to 15%; 2% BCD and 2% CVD on all sorts of coals imposed
Ø More incentive for AMRO Sector announced
Ø Import duty on leather goods manufacturing equipment's reduced

I'm attaching a file that gives all the highlights of budget. The points have been well separated & segregated.
Can you please try to find out & post some info about new and catchy terms in budget. Previously things like bio asphalt, oil zapper, stem cells, MDG, NRLM etc were asked after being mentioned in budget. I'll try to be more active after a couple of weeks.

@TRUE--WARRIOR @TONYMBA does the new GS Mains syllabus have a less emphasis on current affairs? It looks to me as more text book based traditional syllabus. Am I correct or am I misinterpreting it ? Except for the Science & Tech, and Eco, I think current affairs is lesser.
