Hi guys...am from Mumbai and one thing I can definitely tell you is that it is marketing itself agressively. And boy,are they trying to create an aura around their name(although, nothing like our beloved aye aye pee em ).Howeverlots of students over here think pretty highly of it.Also while the placements are not particularly great(highest-3.5 pa,sheesh)they do have 100% placements,if that is what you are looking out for.

Industry interface is quite good and it does have the advantage of being located in Mumbai.I had my acheiver's workshop over there and the infrastructure is good, plama TVs and all.More importantly, some hot chicks out there .

However, guys this is an MBA you wanna do.Couldnt you try for something better next time around.Definitely not for workex guys.Freshers,maybe.

Cheers,
Kartik.

well well well karthik.. bhai,.. who told ya that the highest sal at Wellingkar is 3.5????

i dont agree to that,, as far as i know the avg itself this yr is arnd 4 to 4.25 l pa....

and finance guys have got worth 5/5.5 ... got a frnd thr.. so can confirm abt it...

abt 100% placement... not sure... its jus gas as it is 4 almost all institutes....!!

Your XAT score will not be accepted. Welingkar accepts only CAT scores. 85 in CAT is decent and should get you in. The admissions also has other factors in the overall score. Just make sure you dont lose out much there and u should be through.

As regards donations, I have not paid any donations, being a student myself. This is the case with most of the ppl doing the course at welingkar.

Ya with your CAT score you can surely make it to Wellingkar.
My friend there got 83.14 last year in CAT.
They call everyone for GD/PI and finally shortlist a few 400 for final interview.
Ya, if you are ready to pay donation you get on the spot seat during final interview. But at your score I don't think you need to pay donation.

Also Jay is right. The highest this year there is 5.5 lacs. But average is 4. This statistics were given by Wellingkar people who had come for a presntation at CF, Mumbai. Infrastructure-wise the institute is good. They have 100% PLACEMENT ASSICTANCE AND NOT 100% PLACEMENT is what we were told. Some people back out from placement process for joining family business and all. They don't count them in their process. Rest if you do well in those 2 years you sure will get a decent placement.

Cheers,

hi people....

need ur help.... have a frnd, and this is his 2nd attempt for mba... cat percentile 82% mat dec' 04 percentile 97.8%. snap score 56.25. didn't get a call from any of the decent colleges (applied to fore, lbs, scmhrd etc), not even siib. didn't get through mib/mhrod also. now what r his chances in welingkar? he's an arts graduate, and probably thats the reason even amity flunked him... (for the final call) he's filled bimtech, but dont know whether he'l be able to convert or not... cant drop a year for sure!!! what other colleges can he fill now? he's quite down and im genuinely concerned abt him.... help me out!!!

one more thing, wht r his chances of getting an offer for mba prog....??? tht was his 2nd option in the pgdm form....

thanx...

At that CAT percentile, he has a decent chance. If you read one of my other posts, the written test is worth 100 outta the 150 points applicable for the shortlist. The remaining 50 is for workex, the answers given in the form(it has subjective questions), academic performace and extra-curricular activities.

A further 150 points are given to the GD/PI/PT (50 each). Hence the final selection will be outta 300.

So if he gets shortlisted, he will have to do well in the GD/PI/PT.

hey

i have 95.9 % in mat and 75 in cat. what r my chances at wellingkars? wht is usualy there cut off????

anadi

It really sucks that even a genuine arts graduates are to be relegated. It reminds me of what keats said "The english people troble their Artists/authors so that they could write better".Ironicaly:huh: how uncivilised it is to be an arts graduate .I am really concerned fragile ninja bcos really whats fragile is the carrer of an arts grad.

for ur kind info dude, wellingkaris also accepting cet. u can even apply to them through mat too by getting ur mat score converted!!!!!

anadi

I know they're taking CET scores but as far as I know not MAT. Do confirm with Institute itself.

As for my two cents, I beleive Welingkars is not so well suited for people with good Work-Ex who can reasonably expect to do just as well two years down the line if they continue at their jobs. A good pal of mine, for instance, is already drawing close to 3L a year. There's no real incentive for him to try at any college lesser than one of the IIT's.

Again for someone who has time on their side (read 22 yrs or less) and missed out on better calls narrowly due to unconverted calls or missing cut-offs should defintely write their CAT, XAT again.

hi guys,

dont u think this college ka selection process is beginin too late.............. tabtak to bohot colleges bhar jat honge...........

In fact it should ensure they get candidates who aren't likely to dump them for some other, don't you think?
Dear Chirag,
Your CET score (27th Feb 2005) is also applicable for the 2-Year Full-Time Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management (PGDBM) and the Post Graduate Program in e-Business (PGPeB) at the Welingkar Institute of Management, in addition to the MMS course.
The selection process for the PGDBM/PGPeB at Welingkar begins with the short listing of candidates based on their CAT (Nov 21, 2004)/ CET (Feb 27, 2005)* scores, academic performance, work experience, extra curricular activities and details provided in the application form. This is followed by Group Discussions, Interviews and Psychometric Test.
There is NO CUT-OFF CAT Percentile / CET score to apply for the 2-year full-time PGDBM/PGPeB programs, but a short-list of 2500 students will be done on the basis of the below mentioned parameters. This shortlist will be published on our website www.welingkar.org in the second week of April 2005.

Short-listing Parameters
Max Marks
Written test (CAT/ CET) 100
Work Experience 20

Final Round Parameters

i've got 87%ile in CAT and 29%ile in DI specifically......do i stand a chance of getting a call with such a pathetic DI score????.......what's the avg CAT %ile of the present batch???........want to know if i have a good chance of getting final call (with this %ile) and m not just in the back-up calls for welingkars........

for ur kind info dude, wellingkaris also accepting cet. u can even apply to them through mat too by getting ur mat score converted!!!!!

Anadi

Wud like to correct you here. You can use the scores converted by DTE only for the MMS course. For the autonomous courses, which also accept CET, you should have written the CET written test on Feb. 27, 2005. i.e. scores accepted are only CAT and CET written. No converted scores.

Well misha, I'm not sure of the average CAT score for the simple reason that last year CAT/MAT/ATMA and XAT were accepted, but it was around the 80-85 mark.

So, you have a good percentile to get shortlisted. Sectionals are not counted, so your DI score does not matter. What matters is that you do well in the other parameters also to get a final call.

You can get details of this in Chirag's post of the letter above. The written test score will be an equated CAT/CET score scaled to 100.
