am new around pg but one thing i can say for sure is that anyone who has money can make it to WIM......... but people hold ur horses until we start pointin fingers at one another....... am sayin it wid facts at hand but wont disclose .......... the people who have made it to WIM - congrats to them but after the classes start see how many people will join and do keep askin around ur class how many got selected in da first list......... see people but the fact being this doesnt make WIM a bad institute as its progressin very fast but does affect the quality of students......... anyways lets close this argument here itself coz u know and i know that money weilds power more than u can imagine but nonetheless bucaneers post shud be a little subtle instead of being so extreme........

i hav attended coupla top b-school gdpis of wic sp.jain was one.So the question bout my anemic gray cells doesnt arise.With my accads,cat score and gdpi i thought i will surely make it to WIM but didnt.I dont need to prove my salts worth.Will go on with facts.A frnd of mine knows a guy who has neither submitted CAT score nor attended WIM gdpi has made it there.If u can pay 8 lackhs u can make it.I have chckd it personally.And the admission is still open.

something called a management seat does not only exist in a b-schools but all professional institutions. The government allows the same.
I have IIMA to have management seats.
As I said... either have the money or be intelligent enough to get in, there is no point in whining over spilt milk. Better luck next time.

yes they can...
It does not take too much time to manipulate the placement figures. Moreover the the intelligent students end up getting far more than the "non-intelligent" students. Also once you are in a b-school no company coming for placement is going to ask
"aarey yeh batao, tum ne kitne paise deye the" Ultimately they all stand on the same podium ready to be hogged by the same companies. Some get good companies others don't end up in the best ones. But the "average is maintained".
Any way I guess this discussion is futile as the managament seats issue has been discussed long and hard and should be an accepted fact.

yeah adi that is a point to ponder over upon....... but lemme tel u one another thing and surely u mustve heard of it that there is one student in the 2004-2006 pgdbm course who hasnt given any exam- my wish is not to name him/her...... btw students who have money need not necessarily be dumbasses but as u see and as the facts state WIM does not take the quality of students into consideration while taking their money...... u can give the mgmt seat interview even if u're not shortlisted and that too the interview is with parents:wow: they tell u to bring ur profile alongwith u but isnt ur balancesheet actually matched with theirs ........ well all these questions are surely a point of debate but still welingkars continue to be one of the better institutes which is indeed commendable....... anyways atb to who have got in..... maybe even i will this yr itself.........cheers

wat i wud like to point oiut tht during placements albeit every 1 is on da same pedestal... but i am sure the co's are smart enuf to realize who has the potential and who is qualified and who is not....

also its upto the concerned person's discretion whether he wanna shell out tht much money to get thru mngt quota in any college..finally if he/she has the ability and the attitude he/she gonna come up trumps in life...

guys, yes welingkar does have a lot of mgment seats! but plz try and visit the website of nmims, ie., www.nmims.edu it shows nmims as having officially declred mgment seats and cleared the mgment waiting list upto the 2nd wait list. since i myself had not been able 2 convert my nmims call, i also had applied 2 the mangment qouta! but did not clr the wait list! i had also not converted my tapmi call, and hence was offerd a management seat by an insider! so guys all institutes do have a management qouta! welingkar's only fault is that they are not at all transparent in watever they do!

Let me tell you that in the long run its gonna be very detrimental to the prospects of WIM. So while you are joining this esteemed institute why not campaign for a complete ban on MGMT QUOTA coz no institute does it so rampantly as WIM.
p.s. A BIT OF GYAAN IS VERY ESSENTIAL TO BACK ALL YOUR ACTION

I think I have to put in my 2-bits. I agree with quite a few statements made between this post and my previous one.
Having worked with the admissions office, I know the number of people who were ready to get a mgmt. seat even before the process got started incl. for the 2006 intake. i.e. the ppl who will possibly get in next year.
I also understand the problem people have about ppl getting in by paying for the mgmt. seat. Another point to ponder on; are these ppl stupid to spend so much unless they had a reasonable idea on how soon they can recover this amount?? This holds true even for ppl who will be going back to their own businesses. Although this may sound extremely insensitive; it is a fact. Just to prove it, how many people do you know who just like to go through this application process of mgmt. institutes just like that 'coz he/she was bored. Obviously, there must be some plan 'coz it costs you time and money.
On the other hand, just because a person has paid for the mgmt. seat; can u safely say that this person will be no match for me during placements?? I seriously doubt it. For all you know, that person may get a better placement than you. It may well be that he/she had a bad day which cost him/her the seat thru merit.
Yeah agreed this may not be fair that someone gets in only on money power but as managers, you will face such situations daily. Are you going to just sulk that this person got in when you had worked so hard?? This is a surefire way of getting fired.

i agree that WIM is one of the better instis in da city but the way they accept money is just not right ,,,,,,,,,, i mean adits_pg u shud know there are such people in the pgdbm batch 2004-2006 who have trouble speakin english:wow: ........... man that is really heartbreaking and oh by the way other instis also have mgmt seats but they accept quality students like nmims accepts only those students in the mgmt quota who are shortlisted for the gdpi but our very own WIM doesnt even believe in that.....there are other examples too of the other instis acceptin money but there is strict control on quality of students like kj somaiya has mgmt quota seats but they believe in keepin quality checks ........... and plz dont bother to double check coz i have already done so.....and by the way if anyone wanna check on the WIM way of acceptin money plz goto the enquiry desk besides the directors office which will gladly provide u the directors card and his office phone no and his home phone no and home address toooooo:wow:.......

just one question. i thought this was a management course not an english literature course. I agree worldwide english is the language of business but its not a necessity.
On the other hand, u seem to hv misunderstood the aim of my post. it makes no sense to discuss who got in how, the aim should be in that class of 300-odd people how do you make yourself known?? Do ppl remember u by name or do they need to really think to find out who u are?? remember, they may be friends but they are also looking for placements from the same cos.
This is a fundamental lesson in marketing. If i ask you to name 25 brands of soap, can u reel them off continuously or do u have to think after u've reeled off 15. the question is not how many u remember but y do u remember these first 15??

I dun get it.. lets suppose there are 120 seats... and for ur benefit lets assume 100 are management seats...and again for ur benefit lets assume that 80 of those 100 students are duh....
So why would the placement of the rest 40 get screwed ?
Also I hope you do know that even Placements can be bought ? So a person who can pay 8L for a management seat you really think he cant arrange for a good placement as well ? Not that its a healthy idea anyways but I guess everyone has to learn to live with it.
And yes it may sound very cruel but if you have the money buy it...else move on Unfortunately a hardcore fact.. so lets just face it and live with it....

ITM is a institute of World class repute... and after knowing that u hav got into it, I must say, u are a grt chap.....
And somewhere I even heard, ITM is gonna take down IIM - A in a short span of time...:)
