What r my chances should I apply to it or not?

Me planning to apply to Wellingkars.. as a last option.. safety nets kind.. i hav a cat %ile of 79.9 with good sectional in va 95%ile..although i goofed up big time in quant.not appearin for cet.
well with what i gather from the posts i can be hopeful of a call but beyond that what can be my chances of converting it.. i have decent acads.. good eca and 11 mnths of workex.. so wld it be a wise option of aplyin.. considering i just wanna go for the pgdba course at mumbai which i bel is a good bet.. plzz guide

Let me step in here.
First, I think people are getting confused between the MMS and the PGDBM/PGPeB courses. Let me make things clear. This should also answer quite a few questions given
earlier in the thread.
1. MMS is a degree form the Univ. of Mumbai while the PG courses are autonomous
2. Admissions to MMS are done by DTE. Welingkar has no say in that process.
3. PG admissions are done by Welingkar at Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Bangalore and Kolkata. So you have a choice which centre to select.
4. There is no outstation quota for the PG course like MMS has.
5. Welingkar closes very high in Mumbai for MMS. Just after JBIMS and Sydenham. Based on past experience, Welingkar closes around 10 marks outta the total 240 behind JBIMS.
Secondly, regarding placements, I have seen deciding on colleges based on placements alone. This strategy is very risky. Remember, you will be recruited in 2008 not now. Anyway, the college can only do so much as get you into the interview room. Inside, are you sure you wont screw up?? You may be confident of that but do you know what the interviewer is looking for??
For names of companies that came to campus, refer to the list on the website. I think the list at present is that for the batch that passed out in 2005.
I think that should answer quite a few questions.

Hi Shakks,I m not a senior...but I think, you can definitely convert Welingkar...looking at your profile....Do give it your best shot...
The GD/PI would make the most difference...Look up at the weightage of marks....only 100 for written test....50 for GD and 50 for PI...out of total 300.....
It would have been advisable to take CET also, though...but, then, it all depends on your choice...

I m planning to apply to wellngkar..have got 91.02percentile in CAT..but sectionals are not gud..75.57%ile in QA..99.625%ile in VA..13.12%ile in LR&DI..i; have 9 months work experience as back office executive in ICICI Bank..acads are pretty decent..X-79.6%,XII 86.8&,Grad(Eco) 61.5%..so any clue what are my chances..

While you may be aware that Welingkar Institute is accepting CAT 2005 and or MH-CET 2006 for admissions to its full-time MBA programs, what you may find interesting is that Welingkar is likely to call students with a CAT overall percentile of 70 and above .,
If that does not help you still stand a chance with the MH-CET test on the 26th of February 06. And if you have both CAT and MH-CET, we will take the better of the two scores.
What we offer is admissions purely based on merit to the 270 seats. There is no discrimination on the basis of the state of Graduation there is no reservation for any linguistic minority. There is also no quota for students applying through CAT and those applying through MH-CET, there is one common shortlist.,
