Inputs about tackling XAT DM section - https://www.quora.com/How-does-one-prepare-to-solve-the-questions-in-the-Decision-Making-section-in-XAT
Yaar ye XAT bhi 300 kaa paper leti toh sahi rehtaa. Ye 3 hours kaa mock de kar utho and marks display hote hain 37.54 toh ek baar ko toh dil dehel jaata hai. 120-130 bante toh feel hotaa hai ki paper diyaa hai at least. #OK_Sorry
Hi Guys!!
Any idea when the admit card is supposed to release today????
Need some help.
Which mocks will be better/closer to XAT?
I tried IMS' XAT101. RCs seemed too tough. Not sure if that's the usual LOD in XAT.
Please share your experience.
- XAT IMS mocks
- XAT TIME mocks

What time can we expect the admit cards to be released?
Anyone giving the TIME AIMXAT this weekend. If so please post your opinion on the difficulty level compared to previous years XAT papers.
For Xat?
- IMS Mocks
- Time Mocks
- CL Mocks

in xat 2014 paper, time ims and cracku all seem to have differnet answers for RC's on:
1)probability( "Ideas involving the theory of probability play a decisive part in modern physics.....")
2)and the passage on govt(" I heartily accept the motto, "That government is best which governs least"....")
I am highly confused as to follow which answer key.
@IIM_Groot @onepoorGEM and others Any help will be highly appreciated.
Some facts about XAT exam ,XLRI shortlist and interview calls:
1. Calls are usually given in 1:7-10 ratio (XAT doesn’t explicitly mention and we can only speculate the ratio of calls wrt seats)
2.Delhi campus No one and I mean no one knows how the Delhi campus would fare in the coming years but for now,I personally don’t recommend anyone to join there.Btw for people who are thinking of the location advantage of the Delhi Campus,it’s not actually in Delhi but in Jhajjar,Haryana, which is somewhere around 2-3 hours from Delhi(I’m Glad IIM Rohtak doesn’t sell itself as IIM Delhi XD)
3. IIFT and XLRI do not consider your academic profile while giving out interview calls. Keeping this post XLRI specific, the only things that matter are your overall marks (obviously) , your sectionals and your gender. Males have slightly highesr overall cutoff and sectional to those of Females. For both BM and HRM.
4. The weightage over the past three years for overall conversion(XLRI) has been:
Written test: 50-65%
PI: The rest of it
Academic Profile, Diversity and Extra curricular:5%
GD: 10%
WAT: 5%
GK: 5%
Again, these are just estimates based on what data we have,XLRI stopped publishing the weights of different components after XAT 2017/18
5. Sectional Cutoffs: Sectional Cutoffs have been there in XLRI for many years .Here are the cutoffs (in %iles)for XAT 2019
6.Shortlist: You can check if you’re selected for the GDPI or not an you’ll get the link to do so in max 20 days after XAT and the scoresare released a day or a couple of days after the shortlist.
7.GD-WAT-PI : You will get to choose your own date and time for it from the available dates which start from last week of Feb and end around last week of March.
8. GD WAT topics: The topic for the GD and WAT will be the same. Tip:-Think before you say anything in the GD, You’ll be questioned on everything you say in the GD(Most of the time)
9. Interview Process: It starts immediately after the GD is over and you’re called according to the number you were provided with when you entered the interview room for the GD .An Interview can last anywhere from 5 min to 45 min, It varies panel to panel. A longer interview doesn’t mean that you’re selected and similarly a shorter Interview doesn’t mean that you’re rejected. A lot of factors play their part.
10. Results: They were released somewhere around 2nd week of April this year. The waitlist is also released with the final result.
11. Percentile estimates: XAT 2019 data
34.xx was 95
38.xx was 98
40.xx was 99
42.2x was 99.25
46.4 was 99.7
50.xx was 99.9+
12. GK: It’s not considered for percentile calculation but it’s taken into account for the final selection. There’s no negative marking in GK and it carries a total of 25 questions of 1 mark each. The %ile estimates are:-
13-86.4
14-90
15-94-95
16-97-98
17-99+
13.Some doubts and queries :-
A)Where to practice from: I would suggest past 10 year XAT papers and atleast 3-4 mocks( just to test your plan and get into the rhythm.GMAT CR can help in CR questions from the VARC section but DM is a totally different story so you can’t rely on CR to help you solve DM.
B)How to tackle each and every section: This varies person to person and there’s no one size fits all in it.I am following Tony sir’s game plan and it’s working fine with some tweaks of my own.If you want a detailed plan check his blog thecatwriter.com
C)I am performing well in one or two sections but fail in the other one or two: XLRI has high sectional cutoffs , so you can’t just ignore one section completely. Start looking at your strengths and weaknesses in each section and plan accordingly .For example: Someone who’s weak in geometry should not touch geometry during the first 30 mins into the QA section.Come back to them later if you have time and think you can solve it.IMS’s ABC strategy can do wonders if executed properly.
D)What mocks should I purchase: TIME,IMS and CL are the obvious choices but for DM please focus more on the prev year XAT papers. The answers of coachings are also subjective and can vary from what XAT thinks is right.
E)Role of ethics in DM: XL puts ethics on top of everything,Some pointers that I follow,Might be wrong but better than relying on just intuition:
Avoid extreme options,Morals an ethics should be always upheld,Company policy can never be wrong(A manager can wrong though),Follow democratic processs(sabka saath, sbka vikas XD),The first thing to do is douse the fire!
14.Final word:-Don’t overthink!.Prepare as hard as you can for XAT and leave all the failures or triumphs behind.Percentiles do matter in conversion but so does how you perfrom in GDPI,a 99.9+ can be rejected and a 97 can find it’s place in the first list.Whatever you did in CAT,SNAP,IIFT,NMAT should not negatively affect your performance in XAT.If you feel the paper is tough it’s tough for everyone.
All the BEST!

On Friday morning, Dieting supplement sales Company Herbalife agreed to pay the US
Federal Trade Commission a $200m fine. The FTC said Herbalife cheated hopeful
salespeople out of hundreds of millions of dollars with a high-pressure multi-level marketing
scheme.
Herbalife's stock received an immediate 15% increase following the above news. The
company also announced that it would hire a second former FTC commissioner in a press
release describing the terms of the settlement.
Which of the following options would imply that the 15 percent increase in stock price is
fair?
1. Cheating results in increase in the company's stock price.
2. When fraudulent companies are exposed, their stock price increases.
3. When fraudulent companies are caught, their stock price initially goes down,
4. Acknowledgement of deceit increases the stock price of companies'
5. Compliance with court order increases the company's stock price.

Mrs. Bhalla is the principal of ‘Happy Public School’. While it is a private school, the trust is socially sensitive and as part of their “Spread Happiness Policy” provides quality education to many needy students from low income neighborhood for free. She received a strange complaint from some of the affluent parents regarding their discomfort with allowing poor children to study along with their kids. They were concerned more about their manners, habits and language than about schooling. They wanted the trust to either start a separate shift for such children or remove them from the school since they are supporting them. On the other hand, the parents of the poor children complained of bullying and teasing and shared their concern regarding the mental trauma their children undergo. While Mrs. Bhalla, by no means wants to yield to the demands of the affluent parents, she also cannot ignore them since some of them have been making substantial donations to the school.
Which of the following options will empower students the most?
(1) Ensure no kid from poor income group is detained.
(2) Help students relate learning to their real life experiences.
(3) Maximise students learning achievement.
(4) Ensure rich kids to get to know those on whom their money is spent.
(5) Encourage students to ask questions that teacher find difficult to answer.
Some answer keys are showing 3 as answer. Can anyone confirm what is the answer from the official answer key.
