Hi guys, does anyone have ims solutions for XAT 18 .
Last year XAT question
A computer is sold either for Rs.19200 cash or for Rs.4800 cash down payment together with five equal monthly installments. If the rate of interest charged is 12% per annum, then the amount of each installment (nearest to a rupee) is: (1) Rs.2965 (2) Rs.2990 (3) Rs.3016 (4) Rs.2896 (5) Rs.2880
How to solve these questions?
Thankyou.
I have noticed one thing with regards to DM. A lot of posts with debates about why an answer is right and wrong. What i have seen as a good strategy for DM is that its best to accept the answers and analyse how they expect answers to be rather than reason out why your and their answers differ. Honestly, for DM, you will get the score using such a strategy and not trying to attempt it as per your thoughts. It is most difficult section for a reason. Many might disagree with what i am saying but it is just a suggestion, nothing more.
How is Cl's DM1000 course?
What score in XAT can secure a call from SP Jain for either profile based or score based call?

AB, CD and EF are three parallel lines, in that order. Let d1 and d2 be the distances from CD to AB and EF respectively. d1 and d2 are integers, where d1:d2 = 2:1. P is a point on AB, Q and S are points on CD and R is a point on EF. If the area of the quadrilateral PQRS is 30 square units, what is the value of QR when value of SR is the least?
a) slightly less than 10 units
b) 10 units
c) slightly greater than 10 units
d) slightly less than 20 units
e) slightly greater than 20 units
Mohan’s was a popular fast-food joint at Connaught Place, Delhi. Initially Mohan handled his business alone. His sons, Ram and Kishan, joined the business after graduation from college. Ram was entrepreneurial in nature. Subsequently, another branch of Mohan’s was opened in Panipat. Mohan had chosen Ram to head the Panipat branch. Though Ram increased sales in short time, he had stopped using premium quality organic vegetables, the speciality of Mohan’s.
Mohan and Kishan were not happy with his way of doing business.
Now, the foremost challenge for Mohan was to sort out this issue with Ram. Mohan knew that replacing Ram with Kishan was difficult as Kishan did not want to leave Delhi. However, giving a freehand to Ram might have long term negative consequences. Mohan was confused about the future of course of actions.
Q). Mohan sought the help of five consultants, who give the following opinions:
I. Organic vegetables might be a big success at Connaught place but awareness about organic vegetables is low among Panipat customers.
II. The Connaught place model can be implemented in Panipat provided the business is prepared to face the consequences.
III. Many high end restaurants in Panipat use organic vegetables. So, using organic vegetables will not be a differentiating factor.
IV.
Selling prices of their dishes in Panipat are significantly lower. Using organic vegetables will bring down profits.
V. Premium quality organic vegetables are not easily available in Panipat.
Which of the following set of options would support Ram’s argument of not using organic vegetables? a) I, III, IV b) II, IV, V c) I, III, IV, V d) II, III, IV, V e) All of the above

XAT DM The main issues of interpretation arising from the work of professionally trained anthropologists are that they are late in colonial/post-colonial trajectories, because professional training shapes their interpretations. However, within field of interest and training, their works are most thorough and systematic. The best conclusion drawn from the above paragraph is analogous to : A. Heisenberg uncertainty principle, which states that speed and position cannot be determined simultaneously. B. Cultural relativism, which states that two or more than two cultures cannot be compared. C. Personal relativism, which states that one should not study anthropological phenomenon for personal gains. D. Conclusive relativism, which states that anthropologists should not knowingly color their findings. E. Communicative relativism, which states that anthropologists should not be selective in communicating their findings.
In my XAT application form.. there's no mention of Delhi campus.. as far as I remember, there was just one drop down for "first preference" and I filled it as Jamshedpur.. there wasn't any option of second preference only! any body able to see Delhi Campus in their application form? pls help
The state of nature is “natural” in one specific sense only. For Hobbes, political authority is artificial: in the “natural” condition human beings lack government, which is an authority created by men. Hobbes claims that the only authority that naturally exists among human beings is that of a mother over her child, because the child is weaker than the mother and indebted to her for its survival. Among adult human beings this is not the case. Hobbes concedes an obvious objection, admitting that some of us are much stronger than others. Every human being is capable of killing any other. Even the strongest must sleep; even the weakest might persuade others to help him kill another. Because adults are “equal” in this capacity to threaten one another’s lives, Hobbes claims there is no natural source of authority to order their lives together. Thus, as long as human beings have not successfully arranged some form of government, they live in Hobbes’s state of nature. Such a condition might occur in “primitive” societies as well as in seventeenth century England, should the King’s authority be successfully undermined. Unless some effective authority stepped into the King’s place (or the place of army and police and government), Hobbes argues the result is doomed to be deeply awful, nothing less than a state of war.Why should peaceful cooperation be impossible without an overarching authority? Hobbes provides three arguments that suggests it is extremely unlikely that human beings will live in security and peaceful cooperation without government. (i) He thinks we will violently compete, to secure the basic necessities of life and other material gains. (ii) He argues that we will challenge others and fight out of fear, so as to ensure our personal safety. (iii) And he believes that we will seek reputation both for its own sake and for its protective effects. This is a more difficult argument than it might seem. Hobbes does not suppose that we are all selfish, or cowards, or all desperately concerned with how others see us. But, first, he does not think that some of us are selfish, some of us cowardly, and some of us “vainglorious”. (Many will be prepared to use violence to attain their ends – especially if there’s no government to stop them). In this, Hobbes is surely correct. Second, in some situations it makes good sense, to use violence and to behave selfishly, fearfully or vaingloriously. If our lives seem to be at stake, after all, we’re unlikely to have many scruples about stealing a loaf of bread; if we perceive someone as a deadly threat, we may well want to attack first; if we think that there are lots of potential attackers out there, it’s going to make perfect sense to get a reputation as someone who shouldn’t be messed with. In Hobbes’ word, “the wickedness of bad men also compels good men to have recourse, for their own protection, to the virtues of war, which are violence and fraud”.
The passage suggests that the Hobbesian individual displays which of the following qualities?
a)Egoism
b)Insecurity
c)Vanity
d)Inferiority
a) Only (a) and (b)
b) Only (a) and (c)
c) Only (b) and (d)
d) Only (b) and (c)
e)Only (a) and (d)
