XAT 2020 group

This DM from XAT 2015 still confuses me!!

Mr. Dipangshu Barua, a young IT professional, came early to office to assist his boss in the preparation

for an important client presentation. When he switched on his computer, he saw an email from Mr.

Patel. The email was asfollows:

Dear Mr. Barua, January 2, 2015

This email serves as a follow-up of my conversation with you on December 1, 2014. I have already conveyed need for improvement in your behaviour as desired by your project leader and colleagues. They are yet to notice any visible improvements. I am apprehensive that your failure to act may warrant

further action leading to dismissal. I will continue to monitor and assess your performance over the next three months to determine whether improvements meet the expectations. At the same time, I would like to re-affirm that you are very valuable for our organization.

Best Wishes,

Mr. A. Patel

HR Director

The scheduled presentation went off smoothly. Back in his cabin, Dipangshu read Mr Patel's e-mail once more and pondered over it. During the last meeting he tried hard to put forward his explanation but Mr. Patel had not allowed him to speak. Dipangshu was thinking of meeting Mr. Patel once again but was doubtful whether that would help. Incidentally, he had a job offer from a start-up with a comparable salary. If Dipangshu was to join the new job, he had to accept the offer within the next two weeks. However, he cannot think of a life without a job.

Dipangshu was confused!

Which of the following options would be the best move for Dipangshu?

A. Talk to Mr. Patel and highlight the initiatives he has taken but at the same time start applying for other jobs.

B. Reject the offer from the start-up. Use the next three monthsto find a better job, but continue in the present job.

C. Resign from this organization right now.

D. Accept the offer, only if the start-up gives a salary hike, else keep prospecting.

E. Accept the offer with a request to give him a 10% salary hike.

TIME says opt A, IMS says opt D, I marked opt E.

Can anyone help me ith the reasoning that went here?

It isn't that they can't see the solution. It is that they can't see the problem -GK Chesterton, Scandal of Father Brown

Can anybody please explain how to arrive at the answer? (Didn't understand the logic given in the textual solution)

Rohit, a senior auditor at E&Z;, is working with a team which is auditing Specic Motors, which is one of the major clients of the rm. During the audit, Rohit nds a cut-off error which causes Specic Motors’ revenues to be signicantly misstated. Rohit is aware that the E&Z;’s policy clearly states that an auditor must report any potential adjustment in the work papers. The nal determination of materiality is then made by the partner in charge of the audit. Rohit also knows that Specic Motors is reluctant to make the adjustment. Vikal, the audit manager, tells Rohit “We will not mention this adjustment in the work papers. Since Specic Motors is closely held and there are no tax implications. The partner has decided not to force an adjustment. Specic Motors is our largest client.” Rohit is concerned. Failure to document such a material amount just does not seem right to him.

How should he approach this ethical dilemma?

  • Document the error but state that it doesn’t involve any tax implications.
  • Approach the management of Specic Motors stating that he can’t execute their request.
  • Not document the error as suggested by Vikal.
  • Document the error in compliance with the firm’s policies.
  • Discuss the relevant facts and express his concerns directly to the partner in charge of the audit.

Me: Marks 'C' with 5 minutes of analysis, for and against argumenting, reasoning, balancing and elimination.

Explanation: 'C' is completely irrelevant to the passage and an easily eliminated option choice.

Please someone provide the pdfs of official XAT 2018 and 2019 paper with solutions which XLRI provided after the exam..:)

Did XAT officials say anything about how the DM section is going to be? Will it be DM+LR or only DM like 2018?

Anyone wants IMS XAT mocks and return the favor with Studybuzz XAT mocks? 😅

How to clear varc for avg in verbal?

Music  probably  does  something  interesting,"  explains  neuropsychologist  Catherine  Loveday  of the  University  of  Westminster.  "It  stimulates  the  brain  in  a  very  powerful  way,  because  of  our emotional  connection  with  it."  Unlike  brain-games,  playing  an  instrument  is  a  rich  and  complex experience.  This  is  because  it's  integrating  information  from  senses  like  vision,  hearing,  and touch,  along  with  fine  movements.  This  can  result  in  long-lasting  changes  in  the  brain.  This  can also  be  applicable  in  the  business  world. Go through  the  following  statements:

1.  Playing  a  musical  instrument  is  a  unique  experience  involving  vision,  hearing  and  touch.

2.  Instrumental  musicians  are  far  more  creative  than  vocalists.

3.  Playing  brain  games  does  not  integrate  various  senses  and  movements  as  much  as  playing  a musical  instrument.

4.  Integrating  the  five  senses  is  critical  in  the  business  world.

Which  of  the  above  statements  can  definitely  be  interpreted  based  on  the  passage  above?

a)  Statement  1  only

b)  Statement  1  and  2

c)  Statement  3  only

d)  Statement  1  and  3

e)  Statement  3  and  4

I am only able to clear cut off marks in every section. The problem is im not able to maximize anywhere. Can anyone recommend any strategy please... Also where to find official answer keys of previous year papers since every coaching has different answers!

I have entered incorrect year in date of birth of XAT form (2001 instead of 1996). I contacted the number from XAT page and the person said it cannot be changed anymore, and will need to be sorted during PI. He said i can give the exam though. I am still afraid if my application or XAT score will be rejected automatically due to incorrect information. What should I do? Have I lost my chance entirely this year? Also in centre of exam, will they even let me sit?

help anyone

How many of you out here haven't written a single mock till now? PS: Bored out of my mind

Mrs. Bhalla is the principal of ‘Happy Public School’. While it is a private school, the trust is socially sensitive and as part of their “Spread Happiness Policy” provides quality education to many needy students from low income neighborhood for free. She received a strange complaint from some of the affluent parents regarding their discomfort with allowing poor children to study along with their kids. They were concerned more about their manners, habits and language than about schooling. They wanted the trust to either start a separate shift for such children or remove them from the school since they are supporting them. On the other hand, the parents of the poor children complained of bullying and teasing and shared their concern regarding the mental trauma their children undergo. While Mrs. Bhalla, by no means wants to yield to the demands of the affluent parents, she also cannot ignore them since some of them have been making substantial donations to the school.

Which of the following is most likely to get the affluent parents to accept the school’s policy?

(1) Invite professionals to conduct workshop for the poorer children so that they learn basic manners, habits and language.

(2) Share the fact, that the government instituted school ranking, places 25% weight to policies similar to the school's.

(3) Invite the founder of the school to clarify to all parents the school’s policy.

(4) Meet the two parent groups separately, understand their key concerns and seek solutions from both.

Can anyone suggest what to study for XAT gk ?

starting from today ?
