Reached the venue thinking 2 Pm.Actual time was 4 PM!!
One Reshma was missing from that group and I was an extra in the 2Pm batch, so the XIMB guy who'd come for a rollcall insisited that I should be Reshma...When I vehemently refused to condesend he agreed to have me retain my original name and description 
Anyways hung around 2 hrs with the "Cricket and Natural/National Resource" guys. That was a pretty vocal and competitive group.Our 4 Pm group was more accomodating...
Our GD was on "Business and Ethics do not coexist."
Someone started as soon as the bell had rung...I ventured in 2nd with my ideas of Corporate social responsibility etc...Bulwarked a few more times sating that ethics is to be sincere about the quality of deliverable prodcut/service that your business gives the customer and according to his requirement etc.When someone pointed to work of NGOs I Came in again with the point that if you have profit as a motive and create wealth , then the employees and other related business, the location of ur business also rub off good work to the society (Got cut off here with Somebody stating his point...which was good cause I was running out of steam with this line of thought)...
Finally the bell went off...the lone girl started to summarise...someone dissented with his point..and the GD started all over again.We all were aware that the GD has to be cut-off when the gal agian tried to summarise.THis time the timing was spot on.End Of debate.
Overall...cool debate ..just according to the guidelines mentioned to us.
PI: 3 panelists including the Dean Fr Abrahim (FA) , The Smiling bald guy(Sb) and the Techie Interrogator(TI).
Me enters.
FA : Ah! So u r from our own bhubaneswar(Me smiles).
After a brief silence when they could have enuf time to take in the fact that I was one of thier own , I remembered to put in one of my prepared strengths:
Me : Sir, Although I am from Bhubaneswar I have lived in 8 cities across 7 states, which has added to my diversity blah blah.Helped me in my current job as module leader blah blah
SB : Oh , so what does ur father do..transferable job?
Me : blah blah
SB : U dint fill ur BE yearly marks on our XAT form (!)
ME : take my cert and tell them we dont have yearly,but sems..can i avg 2 sems for a year!

ME : I need to calculate (opening my marksheets...I had hoped they'd forget that!)

Next 7 minutes on my job...I explaines them the whole gamut of my roles,responsibiliteis,org structure,products, services,Proj Management,Quality stds blah blah.Also my tech area:Open Systems.
TI takes over: Some flat questions on Unix...before he asks a question about selecting the 3rd column from a text file containing one row of data.
ME : sed and awk.
TI : Give me sed.
ME : I prefer awk..more powerful etc.
TI : ok gimme awk statement. (Passes a paper..I was 3 feet from the desk,had to get up to accept paper ).
Me : In true requirement gathering style: Delimeiter?...TI says space.One row only?..that means no loop....etc etc..wrote down awk '{print $3}'
TI : (looking at paper) ...thats not what I want.
ME : Again veryfying my premise and assumptions.And explains
TI : NO ... $3 takes 3rd char..not column.
ME : Now I was half way between standing/sitting...because of the distance between the desk and chair and looking at the paper...then try and convince him that awk yakes column wise ....
TI : no thats wrong.
ME: Still want to refer paper...and want them to see it too...so standing and scribbling explaiantions on the paper...letting him know difference between sed and awk...
TI : finally, OK I dont knwo enuf awk..maybe ur right.Are u sure?
ME : I use it everyday sir!
TI : Oh , I dunno...cause I dont use it everyday.

im back to post my ximb interview expieriecne....this was at the ISI insititute in delhi
reached around 4 , the time mentionedi nthe call letter...we were all made to sit in an airocnditioned room where intros went aorund..within minutes all the candidates were talking o each otherl iek old time frineds....
anyway gd was annouced....topic was "private universities in india should be banned"
ppl kept harping the same points and there wast much flow to the GD....it diditn move forward interms of points or brining in different aspects to the discussion ...
basically the mod and his 2 assistants (who were pacing up and down the length of the room taking notes) stopped the discussion after 10 minutes...no summary asked of us..
after that we were back in the wiating room getting to know each other even better....one by one ppl were called in for interviews...
i was the last one to be called...actully there was one guy before me who it turns out disaapeared from the rooom halfway thru and never came back ....
the panel of 3 memebrs i got for thei nterview was very frinedly ....they prettym uch grilled me on different aspects of work ex trying ot see if im actualyl doing anything solid or just passing time at work (since im not getting paid that much)...i was able to convince them im in a hot field and im in here for the hands-on expierence that job is lettng me have ....money will flow later blah blah ...
they seemd convinced...overall i got a very positive vibe from them ...guess only the results will tell the true story....any ideas when those r gonna be out...
so guys if any of u r left to go through the process in delhi ...wish that u get a cool panel ....if u can sit in the room and not feel like "man when will this grilling end and il be able to get out of here"..then u know ure not doing too bad...like someone in a post above mentioned "it was like being in one's living room "...thats exactly how it felt...
by the way im getting in with my gmat ..and ximb is testing out foriegn students for the first time...so had some intelligent questions at the end to ask about how the placement process would work for me and whether id be treated at par wit the rest of the XIMBians...or shut out of the placement process since im not an indian (umrikan passport)....they assured me that ill be just like one of them ..so that was reassuring ....
have a call from fms for 1 out of the 9 international seats they offer...winder if i can convert it....

Think you did pretty well after all. I dont think u were too aggressive. Agression bordering on being condescending would have been really dangerous, but I think u didnt cross the line...Me thinks u have fair chances of making it...

had a very average GD PI. GD topic was the modi visa fiasco. spoke 3 4 times but i dont think i made sense. PI was bad. the panl was delibrately laughing. it was so obvious. asked 4 acads answered 2. on the whole like i said veeeery avg. nothin much to say acually.

after the GD(5 participants only of 10 were present) on Whether path is important or result(lasted for 10 mins), I had my worst PI ever.
Intro, a mallu in the panel interrupted at RECW and said, "U had a bad time there".
I said acads was not good, but life was excellent. Why acads low?
I started the usual funda of "I was not inclined to marks but concepts", I could barely complete and another guy said, "So u after girls, naxals?"... (Whenever naxals come to my PI, I am out)
I said quizzing in college, he said 4 years of it????
I said I have conducted, participated etc...
Any special area-I said Biz IT...
Who started air india...
I said JRD started.. then he asked Indian Arilines... I then said JRD and his Karachi -Mumbai flight... not sure whether Tata Airlines became AI or IA...

the interseting part of the ximb interviews held at blore today was the absence of a lot of candidates...
i had my gd/pi at 9...and out of the batch of 8 called only 4 turned up...
.the next batch 3 dint turn up ....
the gd tpic was "people get the leader they deserve" ...
they gave 7 mins for it ..every one got more than enuff time to speak 😃 ..
gd wasnt too gr8 all of us gave lots of global gyan ..with china,bihar etc etc coming into the gd at occassional intervals...
i had the first interview ..cool one with questions primarily on my work and why i quit my job ... had a good time
...and thats how this season of interviews ends for me...hopefully not again ...
now waiting for the results.....

had my gdpi session in chennai on the 19th,
the gd topic was - nice guys finish last. i think the same topic had been used earlier.
anyway it was a good but loud gd.
then came the pi and they totally screwed me.
despite having 1.5 yrs work ex,i was totally screwed on my academics.i was nt asked any question on my work, company industry etc. :bad-word:
being a bcom grad was asked a lot of questions like
what is the difference btwn a reserve and a sinking fund.
what are the different heads of taxation
when would you go in for a public issue and when for a loan
and these were the only questions i understood and remember,
i felt totally pissed after the interview.was cursing myself for not attending classes in college.
my wounds of spjain had not yet healed and now this??

Scene 1:Reached just before time after landing up at the wrong place initially. Amazed to see a bigger crowd after pathetic turn outs for XIMB at b`lore. Infact 100% turnout!!. The 8 of us had a nice chat after intros and it seemed everyone had some or the other calls so a good GD was expected. Met a couple of pg ppl , Rahul , Cherian , Rajat ..
Scene 2: Suddenly called by one of the profs to another room for the GD. Seated in a semi circle facing the the panel of three, we were given the topic " Left to the markets, it would move towards greed" or smthn like tht.. A min. to think abt the subject which was cut to just 30sec. Orderly GD till the end with a few crowd talks , lots of globe and repetition of ideas. But overall a decent GD with many things covered for 7-8min. One guy askd to summarise.Askd to leave and come back for I`view after a minute.End of scene 2
Scene 3 : Back to the first room where we had a better GD (naturally..we were left to ourslves) on lots of things and general talk. I was the third to be called and i`views lasted for about 10-15 min. each
Scene 4 : I`view room. Panel of three. One silent prof,more of personality checker(P1), one domain expert abt evrythn who knew a lot but more of techie (P2), the in-between kind P3.Me , M
P2 : (before I take the seat..) Are you a relative of Harshad Mehta? (Thts my surname)
M : (Big grin) No sir, not close
P1 : Wouldn you have liked to be his relative?
M : (what to say now) No sir

during my post interview 'chat' (ref to my prev post) with fr. abe, he said results will be out last week of march. its really not anything new coz its on their site as well. as we are technically one day from there, we can expect the final list anyday now!

6 members in the group were Orissa domiciles... me included... One guy frm Brittania sales division and a female commerce grad. wer the 2 non-domiciles.
There was a scientist in the group from Madras Atomic Power Station. 2 guys frm TCS.2 frm Infy.
My profile: BE. (ece) Final yr. cgpa: 8.54 XII: 95.1 X: 86.6(CBSE) XAT score: Abysmally Low. Probably de lowest XAT %ile to ve got a call frm XIMB.
Interview duration: Less than 5 min.
3 panelists: 2 wise old men. One frm HR(p3). Other a tech. fundoo.(p2) Another younger person in his mid thirties(p1).
Enters me:

Me: There was always the time constraint as we d to bring out the mag b4 the hostel day. So i d to work for 8 hrs,2 nights to see the task thru completion. Secondly, as I m not very affluent with de local language I asked for volunteers 2 help me out. There was this guy calld mohan who kept assuring me for almost a fortnite that he wud b with me to edit the tamil portion. But when it mattered the most, he was no wher 2 b seen. I 'd 2 mak alternatives 4 dat....
p3:What did u learn?
Me: (thinks for a couple of seconds) 2 things sir: 1. We gotta ve back ups for whatever we do and 2. It takes dys 2 build trust but only moments to break it!
