I agree "u always have 2-3 pnts" but wat if u have 5-6 pnts all with well stated facts n figures...Upper edge for u..U can structure the discussion way u want...

Though all the topics till now are general lex "democracy a farce"..
I feel,premediatted thoughts will always help...but dont ever expect same topic(..

hi every one,
ive been a regular reader of all postings( very good job there) but i guess very lazy to post any myself.... i just wanted to share my experince of GD/PI, never know if it culd help someone someway....

well we were called at 9am. reporting at Xaviers College VT. i was glad i made it on time. and the GD started almost the very instant i got there...guess they were waiting for me.

TOPIC : Corruption is rampant because of democracy.

we were 8 of us and i think the GD was pretty good. no chillam-chilli. never thought GD culd be so organised.:thumbsup:

then started the session of PI..my turn was second last.so i was nervous till the very end. well found of most of us were related ...thru pagalguy ofcourse,ONE BIG HAPPY FAMILY

i was called in for PI. the interview panel was the same which took the GD ( and one of them is Fr Ebrahim the director XIMB)
1. tell me about yourself?
2. u finished graduation in 2002 and u only have a work exp of 16 months...what did u
do the rest of time?
3. what are ur strengths?
4. tell me about the GD and what did each of the participant say...( this coz i said i have
good grasping power and am very observant :huh: ...me and my BIG mouth)
5. ur enginnering marks seem to be very bad...why?
6. did u take engineering by choice or just followed the herd ? ( this was the director's
ques)
7. how much did u score in CAT? what all other calls have u got?
8. tech ques....what is multiplexing? what is TDM, FDM? what is a themistor? what is Pulse
Code Modulation? ( gosh shuld have studied in engineering:( )
9.hobbies....MUSIC.....
10. what was the major event that took place in MUSIC at a national level...( culdnt think
anything beyond Mark Knoffler)
i got the most WIERD looks from the very ppl who jsut b4 the interview were smiling... looks like i jsut screwd up the interview...anyways i was asked to depart...

i thought PI wuld be more grilling but i guess they came to know pretty soon that theres not much scope ...


anyways just one piece of advice for ppl who still have to face the interview...pls pls ppl read the basics bout ur graduation subject ( ur fav) even if u have good work exp.

Had my GD/PI at St.Xaviers, Mumbai toady in the 2 pm batch.
The GD topic was "Cricket is a waste of National Resources".
The GD beacme a fish market with only 8 ppl...there were a couple
who were eager to not let others speak. A couple of guys misinterpreted
the topic as "Cricket is a waste of NATURAL Resources".
That created more chaos. Anywayz made a few entries(3) and also got a
chance to speak during PI.

The PI seemed good with less stress on acads.
The PI consisted of 3 panelists as everyone has mentioned.
P:panelists m:me.
me enters the room.
m: Good afternoon Sir
p: Good afternoon have a seat.
p: So what do you think about the GD.
m: Sir it was a bit chaotic. There were a few ppl who were not
allowing others to speak. Also a few misinterpreted the topic.
(All start smiling ). I could not contribute much.
p: Why do this things happen? How do you prevent it? What are its
consequences? What would be an ideal GD be like?
m: Sir, its a competetive world. Everyone here wants to win.
So to survive this competition everyone has to outdo his competitors.
But that does not mean that you should not allow anyone to give his opinion.
That shows lack of team spirit. The consequences were that no one could hear
what others were saying and the group as a whole also could not reach a consensus. The focus of the entire discussion was lost. For a GD to be an ideal one everyone should be allowed to voice his opinion. ALso it is necessary to listen to what other ae saying whether we agree or not.
p: Why did you speak so less?
m: Sir, I did my level best to contribute my points, but there were few ppl who were not ready to listen and were interested in voicing their opinions. Ithink the grpoup lacked the focus. We should have tried to control the group and make a directed discussion(fas gaya...)
p: You should have done that
m: Sir I could have but looking at the reactions of a few ppl I dont think anyone would have listened to me.
p: Would you like to contribute a few points now?(me happy )
m: blah blah...gave my views.
p: So u worked in this company? Why did u leave it?
m: Sir the kind of work that I was doing did not meet my career goals. Also I was least interested in that kind of work.
p: So what r u doing right now?
m: Sir, I am currently working with an International Company that carries out Market Reasearch in India
than they put a few questions on my latest workk-ex. After seeing my file they asked me on my acads

p: so you done a course from NIIT. What did they teach u there?
m: Yes sir I did my GNIIT. We were taught...blah blah.
p: So what are the different types of programming methods?
m: Structured,OOPS,COM are the ones which I know.
p: So what is unique about OOPS & COM?
m: Sir OOPS supports Abstraction, Encapsulation, Inheritance ...explained the terms. COM basically is component driven and gave more gyaan on it...
p: What about polymorphism? (had forgotten it to mention in OOPS)
m: Sir its one of the properties of OOPS but I exactly don't remember what it is.
p: Give some example of cOM technologies.
m: .NET & J2EE.
p: Which one is preffered in market OOPS/COM?
m: Sir according to my knowledge COM is upcoming technology coz it follows the funda of write once use it anywhere. So you can write a code on ur PC and use it on your palm top. It has various security advantages also...Gave more gyaan here.

p: So what are your hobbies?
m: Reading, Writing...
p: So what you read & write.
m: Gave insatnces of my taste.
p(father E): Dont u think cricket should be banned?
m: :wow: I dont think it should be entirely banned. It does provide entertainment. However the kind of expenditure that goes into it can be reduced... gave more gyaan about what I feel & how it can be done.
p: Which other calls you have.
m: blah blah.
p: So you wanna know anything about XIMB?
m: Sir when are final results coming out.:) 😃
p: Check after 27 march. Anything else?
m: no, thank you sir.

Hello ppl....... me had gd today at 2 pm.... popeye's batch


me being the person who correctly interpreted the topic as 'cricket is a waste of NATURAL resources'

bah.......who the hell cares....... bad gd.......me totally lost in the crowd

started with tell me sumthin that u hav not mentioned in the form.......man i do not even remeber what i wrote in the form.....:wow:

moved on to work ex..... me being an engg in sales........told me i should go for mimimum 2 yrs work ex before MBA......me having 1

me asks why.......if they could be kind enough to explain.........now they r looking at each otherand abt 5 sec silence

then one dude explains...gyan for whole 65 secs......me resond......not convincing though ...look displeased

one dude asks abt acads.......me says noooooooo....... sorry cannot help you there.

now.....they start grilling........wastage of resources,time money, etc.....me say nono..it has taught me what i want to do........then they tell me 4 yrs is pretty long for you to know what you want....

finally says any questions......must have been on the website........me says not abt the institute but abt the gd......what do they intend to find out in 8 mins frm the group....... they get irritated.......say we told you before we started (popeye mentioned it bfore)

me pester them more....abt leadership........so finally they relent......then i am asking questions on how to perform well in the gd and they r answering........

finally over...... me says thank you very much for the discussion and not an interview

overall not good.......no hopes anywayz.........back to being a regular repeator

pi was cool...they tried 2 keep comfort me...2 of the panelists were askin a ques....one was givin a grim look ...a hr prof...one of them asked gen ques...the other one acads...

questions like....
avg income 5000,s.d-500 wat can u interpret about the income distribution?
median....when is it used???
mode....how can it be used in biz or mktg??

other ques were general....int. lasted 4 10 mins...thats it guyz..

i have a friend who is answering xibm on 22nd here in bangalore. well he has 2 yrs of work exp in a reputed firm . howver he left his job in july to prepare 4 cat and the other related exams and only recently joined another company (march) . now he has a gap of around 6 months inbetwn jobs... the question is .." during the interview should he mention abt his new job or just go along that he is still waiting 4 the final results before job hunting again??" any suggestions???

How many seats are there for non orrisa junta in the BM program. I read somewhere that only a third of the total seats(120) is available for non-orrisaites. that sums upto 40 seats.
Is that true??

GD : Business and ethics do not coexist.
PI : Pretty cool...qns on 2 yr work exp and some gen HR qns...

had my XIMB interview today at Calcutta. grp of 7 ppl present
GD Topic: CPM
we were given 1 min to think abt the topic. There was a huge confusion as some of us(including me) had heard CBM. Initail speaker started speaking abt CPM which is a term in Commerce/Economics. some of us interpreted it as CBM and thought it was an abstract topic and strted harping whatever came to our mind. i In the middle the moderator pointed put that the topic was indeed CPM. Soon luckily all of us started speaking abt the CPM govt in West Bengal. Finally we were speaking on a common platform. Rest of the GD went well. All got a chance to speak.

PI: 3 people in the panel
P1- tell us abt ur work
Me- blah blah....

P2: you have nearly 3 yrs work-ex which means u are out of touch with ur books. I am giving u a problem in Maths. Can u solve
Me- will try my best

P2- gave a problem on equations
Me- solved it

P2- asked me to plot a curve of an eq.
Me - tried but cd not and gave up

Some more stuff on my work, which i answered gladly. Asked where all i had calls frm also.

PI lasted abt 15 mins
