Which is the main score XIMB-RM considers for Admission? They have mentioned all 3 (CAT,XAT,IRMA).

thanks for starting this thread...i have 3 questions:

1) if i give both CAT and XAT, do i need to apply through both, that is fill the form twice???

2) if it is to be filled once, which of my scores would be considered?? i mean is it like most institutes have, that is, the better of the two??

3) how are they going to normalize the scores of students?? i mean those who are shortlisted on the basis of CAT and those on the basis of XAT....

seniors plz

There is nothing called main score that XIMB considers for shortlisting applicants.... Equal weight age is given to all the scores... Till last year XIMB used to come out with two separate cut off lists, one for XAT applicants and one for IRMA applicants, this year it will come out with three shortlists i.e CAT, XAT and IRMA. So no matter which exam you sit for if you clear the cutoffs then you will be called for GDPI process.... Good Luck..:cheerio::cheerio:

Yes if you are applying through both the exams then you can do so only by filling up the form twice and making the payment twice. But if you are applying for different courses through the same exam, then you can do so in the same form by paying Rs. 500 extra/course
XIMB will come out with a separate cutoff list for each of the exams. So it is not like the better of two scores is taken but rather a separate cutoff list will be prepared for both XAT and CAT and the qualifying candidates will be called for GDPI... Good luck...:cheerio::cheerio:

hello sobhan,

Can u pls tell us what was the last year's cutoff for all the above 3 courses thru all the 3 exams i.e CAT, XAT and IRMA

Thanks so much !!

do they emphasize on academic background ?

Hi Kartik,

Thanks for starting this thread.... I have a question.

1. Say the cut off through CAT is 97.5 and through XAT is 97. Suppose one has applied through both CAT and XAT and has got 98%iles in both. His name would be in both the lists right?

2. If I wish to apply to both BM and HR, Do i need to pay Rs.1500 twice? once through CAT and the other through XAT?

Please reply

Very few colleges overtly claim this, but then its an open secret that having a good academic background definitely gives you that leverage in comparison to others as there is a certain amount of weight age given to it during your GDPI rounds ... But then that will depend on your GDPI performance, if you can convince them, then its your for the taking....;).... Good luck...:cheerio:

Yes as i've said earlier there would be separate cut off lists for each of the exams.... and if you apply for 2 courses on the basis of one exam then only you pay Rs. 1500 else suppose you apply for BM through cat and HRM through XAT then you'll have to pay Rs.2000.... Good Luck..:cheerio:

Hi Seniors,

I filled up the personal info detail for XIMB today. Have couple of questions,

1. Can someone please suggest the cut-off for CAT/XAT for d previous year?
Also, what kind of sectional cut-off comes into play...?

2. Next one is, is it only the GD/PI round when ACADS & WORK-EX comes into play or it is part of the very first process of giving calls as well ?
Because two above mentioned scenarios can be having hugely different impacts. Like the IIMs have clearly come out with their process & all, is there anything like that ( though probably not on pen & paper for XIMB, still some experience/idea sharing from the seniors can do us heavens of good)...?

3. Is Specializaion clearly distributed in XIMB at d very begining ( like say SPJAIN) or it is differentiated later ( like most of the b-schools) ?

Puys from XIMB, please chip in wid ur experiences.

Thanks in advance..

1. Please check the previous years solution centers for cut offs for the past year as well as the years before that. that should give you a fairly good idea.

2. For giving out the GD PI calls, only your CAT/XAT/IRMA score matters, nothing else. Acads comes into consideration after that.

3. You choose your specialization only when you come to the second year. First year is common to all.
I have 2 questions....plz clarify it seniors....

1) i just applied to ximb PGDM & PGD-HRM based on my cat score! u said this before but it was not clear..so can u plz re-explain that if i want my admission to be based on my xat score as well do i have to again fill up the application form from scratch or will i just login with my already available xim id and this time click on XAT 2012 (in the CHOICE OF EXAM column) & mention my xat id???

2) can i just make a single draft of rs 1500 or rs(1000+500) separately??

3) what was the xat and cat cutoff last year for pgdm and pgd-hrm??

PLZ HELP ME OUT SUM1!!!

Yes I confirmed this from the admission office you can apply for two separate exams using the same XIM ID there is no need to start filling it up from scratch... And a single draft of Rs.1500 will suffice, but you need to send in the payment slip of both the courses along with your draft.... Good Luck:cheerio::cheerio:

Most colleges take your work ex, academic background, extra curricular activities etc into account during the process of GDPI only, but to give a specific answer to your query XIMB takes all these criteria into account only during the GDPI rounds.... And as per the specialization part, no unlike SP Jain here specialization comes into picture only in the second year...:cheerio:. Good Luck...

Regarding the cutoffs we will be coming out with the exact cutoff figures for BM RM and HRM in a couple of days....
This is the first time that XIMB is taking CAT scores... :cheerio::cheerio:

Hello guys..

Can you please give some inputs on XIM, Bhubaneshwar, the placement scene and packages etc?

Can I fill in the form after I appear for CAT, as the last date for filling up online application is Nov 22, 2011, if I'm not wrong?

XIM has following courses, PGDM, PGDHRM, & PGDRM.. so the college has a good track record in which of these?

Thanks

Please go through the website to find out about the placement scenario all have been explained in details there.... Yes you can fill it anytime you want before the deadline stated by XIMB which is 21st of November... See all the courses run parallel in the campus. And all three some of the best courses offered by an institute considered to be one of the best in the country.... Good luck...

I have a question. I wish to apply for PGDM through CAT as well as XAT and I have already filled my application through CAT and will be filling my application through XAT as well once XAT registration starts.
But the question is how much do i need to pay? I believe it should be 1500 as it states on their site

"Application fee is Rs.1000/- for one programme, and Rs.500/- each for every additional programme/admission test".

Can someone pls confirm?
