Lemme clear a few misconceptions about XISS.
I've been to the campus, talked to the students and faculty, here is my findings.
The best program:
1. Personnel Management is the best program at XISS however it does not have 100% placement. The reasons could be 50% reservations which brings in a vast variety of students where in some of them are not even sure of where they what to go.
2. Rural Development is the flagship program of this institute. It is even better than PM as it has 100% placement and the faculty is also great. They have great knowledge of various development tools, moreover, the students also get the real pinch of rural development visiting places in and around ranchi.
3. Information Technology management program is considered good enough. Students do get placed in good IT companies, the scenario might be different for 2009 and in future, but the past has been good enough for an average student to consider studying this program.
4. Marketing and Finance have not much value at XISS. The mass who studies these courses are usually local students of students with very low score in XAT. There ain't any considerable package for the mentioned programs.
Cut Offs & Placement
1. PM - Anyone getting around 60%tile get a call for GD/PI. Work Ex and Acads are considered. The GD/PI is knowing to be competitive. Avg score of students in PM batch is 75%tile and above. However students with 55%tiles are also there who have considerable work experience as of 2yrs and more.
Placment of 6lacks is considered high for PM students. I met students with 3lacks to 4.8lacks salary. The student with 6lack salary was considered best and I bestow that to be a high package. Lehman Brothers came on campus offering 17lacks to a student, however there is no official record of who the student was and how the placement was arranged. Maybe I was unable to track the student down.
2. RD - Students with 40%tile and above are called in for this program. GD/PI is not that tough, and students are usually in and around ranchi. The avg XAT score of students is usually low even in general category.
The highest package has been 6lacks and average of 3-4lacks. The program is good if a student wants to develop the rural india. NGOs are the main campus recruiters.
3. IT Management - This program is ranked below RD and so is its cut off. Placement has been variable. I've met a student with 3.6lacks offer from some software company I don't remember the name. Placement is not 100%.
4. Marketing & Finance - Nothing much to talk about.
Overall, if you have a lower percentile, and you wanna get into an MBA college, then XISS should be considered as a decent option. Its way too better than those flashy colleges in Bangalore and Pune. You may not be able to get that kind of fancy atmosphere and voluptous dress sense, but for an average MBA degree which can be somehow to some extent be helpful and the name of college which you can take standing between ten people, Xiss is not at all a bad option.

how do dey arrive at the final score...like dey have 50% weightage in xat so anyone having say 94 percentile wud it be converted .94*250 as such?

1)is pgdm-finance worth applying( relying on earlier posts its seems its not)-regarding faculty,placements.
2) i am a commerce graduate so will it be fruitful to apply for pgdm-im?

But if you are into cost reduction and studying is more important for you than placement then you can always apply, but keep your expectations lower on the batch profile. You will end up studying with students with percentile below 40.
I would suggest you should apply for PM program. It would be easy enough for you to get a call and if you are good in communication skills and also have enough knoweldge of current affairs and ability to talk on any topic, you will reserve a place for you.
You can apply for the IM program, but considering your percentile, I don't see any point in considering XISS with this score.

u hv made a good point here of the people studyning with us..
bt u left a point that m a commerce graduate so does it make any sense to apply to im course(as this is the only 1 i find decent other than pm and rd9in which m nt interested)

How does it matter you are from finance background when people studying Bachelor of Arts do MCA and get job in IT firms. Or when IIT's engineers who are given indpeth knowledge of mechanics and technology end up as managers after an MBA from some so called top institution.
It doesn't matter dude. What matters is what you want to study, at least in India this is the way it is. So, SP Jain is there, welingkar is there, kirlosker, and many more, but XISS is a bit lower in the run.
IM won't make an difference if you want to get into IT sector. Even better you can use the knowledge of your bachelor's in masters for understanding banking it requirements. If not great then not bad either.

my suggestion to you would be to go for XISS. this is far better inst than other you would get at this score in XAT.......y i say this is also due to its low fees, which is just 2.3 or somethin, excudin hostel n al............evn i m appyin there just because of fee, coz i knw there arent any equally gud college wid such high return ratio...................i gt 85 in XAT

m also a fellow aspirant like u....happened 2 talk 2 one of d senior girls.....d hostel is not wifi enabled..only d campus is wifi enabled.accomodation is done on 4-sharing(max) to 2-sharing(min) basis.u will nt find single rooms.d girls hostel is located @ another campus near 2 d main clg campus.security is good.d staff quarters is also located der.

The girls hostel is located close to the main campus of XISS as pointed by simli1, however, the wifi/internet feature is unavailable both at main campus and also at the hostel. Students use internet cards from CDMA careers for accessing internet. The WiFi on campus has been under testing for past year or two.

GD/PI selected candidates's names will be displayed on the college notice bord as well as the same will be informed through email by the end of March 2009.

Students with 80%tile and above apply to XISS. Usually these students have good academics but they lack work experience. Because of their profile they get a call, but because of the tough GD/PI process, a handful of them are left.
Your score is less, but you can expect a call. Students above 60%tile do receive a call, but converting them is the point. If you have work experience of 2yrs or more, feel free that you will be getting a call, but if you are a fresher, chances are bleak. For converting the call, strong communication skills are quite important.
P.S. - I've also applied for the PM program, lets see what happens. I've mixed feelings about the program, faculty and the institution itself.
