XISS: post your queries here

Thanks for the input.

I've scored a 720 in GMAT, with the above profile I got a call from SAID Business School, Oxford University. I do not have that kind of money to get myself there, else I might not have been talking and wasting my time here.

Further, I know what is there in that college. It is just another degree college for people who would like to purse such programs. Take my word, if you are ambitious, this is not the place worth spending time. You talk about faculty, I bet, I know more about NREGA and AIG than what those douche bags know.

I know what I'm and I believe in myself. I don't need no input from two timer kids like you.

well , well come on dear , grow up.
it shows how childish you are.
you are showing your gmat marks to prove your intellect.:nono:

come on , now i can understand , how much illusion u have for yourself.

keep ur gmat score to yourself..... ok.
intellect people never show their marks , dear........... remember it.

now it's final , what kind of person you are.:|

and ya , renowned people never show their report card as u did it today.....

@gauravpruthi
It was an answer to not worth any good place. Again, I don't need no advise from you. My fault, I'm wasting my time here, trying to prove what, nothing I guess.

And please, apply to XISS, and stay happy. They call people with 90%tile and also people with 30%tile. They reserve 40 seats for Christians, SC, ST and 35 seats for General students, out of which how many are sold no one knows, and call 1260 for the 35 mentioned. The professors have not and do not even wish to be a part of any seminar or workshop. The institution has been there for 50yrs still has not seen the success which institutions founded by its time see. And its AICTE approved, with a low course fee, as compared to various institutions.

And me, I'm sure I ain't required here anymore. This is how it works in India, till you are + its great, the moment you go -, you suck.

No hard feelings brothers. I can understand your mindset. Your questioning a fake/withheld identity doesn't change the galore.

after all this , i am waiting for your response.
i hope after reading my previous post and the links which i gave you , you have made up your mind that in our country ... mba is not just all about a dream degree or to put yourself in a rat race........ but it is also about to imbibe harsh realities of top b - schools.......

@gauravpruthi
This discussion is absurd. Had it been an IIM saying the same what XISS's interviewer said, I might have accepted that, why, because that's a proved ground.

MBA in India will see the reality when the GDP will be sustained at 4% in next 10yrs. An avg graduate at Wharton has 10yrs of work experience, some Indians at Said have 2yrs work ex but exceptional academic record, I too have 2yrs post grad work experience, but my activities made me eligible for the same. Here freshers are entertained in such a way that they know more than the one who has been in the market.

The point is, why this excessive hype about XISS. Do IIMs call students with 90%tiles, yes they do for the reserved category, and its perfect. But, when XISS calls students separately for the reservations then why in general they have 30%tilers and 90%tilers.

MBA in India is not bad brother. It is looked upon as a key to get a good high paying job, but thats not the real picture. This is not a job gurantee plan, this is a professional program and aspirants should be mature enough for the same.

Harsh reality of MBA in India. Private Business Schools asking for considerable amount of money, colleges like SIBM have declared their Management Seat prices and with that money you can even study at an AACSB approved institution. This is accepted, so it should be same for XISS, why don't they call students with high percentile, why not put up Management seat prices.

I've met professors at XLRI, most of them have been guest speakers at one of the best Business Schools in the world, if one of them might have rejected my application or said I don't deserve, then I might have accepted with approval. Not some half minded egoistic moron who does not even knows the decorum of taking an interview, when you have 1260 on the line, then you just pass time, when even out of that small league, most of the seats are sold.

Dream degree, dream to study at XISS? If a student sees such a dream, then ask that student about his exposure. XISS is not a top b-school, neither it deserve to be with its atmospehere, it is an average b-school meant for average students.

XAT percentile.
90%tile and above - You are a fool to consider XISS.
75-90 %tile - There are way too better options, depending on your priorities.
55-75%tile - The best place that your percentile can have.
55% and below - Why are you wasting your time.

I'm a person who gets influenced very easily and also pissed very easily. Most of my words might have been out of disgust, however, what I've forecasted is not at all wrong.

True, I've not attended any other GD/PI, and I do not have any information about the same. If its a fish market everywhere then its my dismay to question that, but you gotta call spade a spade, it was no less than a cacophony out there.

Finally about my kiddish behavior or whatever you call it, well brother, in my initial analysis I found XISS to be a good option, but when I got to see the reality, I felt excessively devastated, it was not because of the GD/PI, but because of the way the institution is and works. I have had a lot of expectations from the same, and it was all taken aback all of a sudden. This has kept me on a real bad strand.

You doubt me, well, I ain't here to prove anything. That's what the show is shoddy, till you talk the line everything is right, the moment you go off it, you see the call. I now got what Sud.Singh was trying to foreclose.

well thanx a lot dear for getting my point....
well the choice is urs puys....do whatever u like....
i m gng in irma although i hv a lot other calls coz i wanna do RD n irma is a place which was my dream...
XISS may be a big name but blv me if u come to ranchi and ask anythng abt it u will come to know abt it.....
not discouraging anybody neither showing my GYAN or sth like that just putting forward my view.....

well think million times be4gngthr.....
@ xDisillusionedx

well , before conducting cat exam , iim publish its eligibility criteria n all.
in that advertisement , they never say that they will give calls only to those students who have more than 80% in xth and xiith .
let me ask a question why ...... why they put students in a clandestine situation.
if they are not interested in an average or below average academic students , then why , till date , they never published the same or what they actually looking for.
had they published their criteria crystal n clear , i don't think so that cat exam would be given by so many students.
if institute like iim can put people in clandestine , then think about others.......

and talking of calls , even at 99 percentile or more in cat , people don't get even a single iim call......... do u call it justified now.....

why xiss give calls to more than 30 percentile in general category because they also want to earn money through application form like other big institutes want in india.

and let me tell u that , whatever they said , they r doing it means they are giving calls to everyone who scored more than 30 percentile in xat unlike iims , according to them , only 50% in graduation is the eligibility criteria but when it comes to giving calls , they prefer 80% - 90% in academic.

not just in sibm but also in other top notch b - schools , u have back door entries.
if xiss is doing the same , then why u r not also against for other institutes.

look ......... overall what i am trying to say that......i am nither against iims or sibm or xiss......what i am trying to explain that most of the b schools in india don't follow crystal n clear approach to take students.
we can fight against system but can not change it in one day..........
every institute has its +ve as well as - ves .
so lets end this discussion and if u wanna to continue it , then it's all n all ur choice......................
@ xDisillusionedx
I don't get one thing who forced you guys to apply to XISS...and if u r expecting so much from an institute who has even stopeed you from landing up in IIMs.
XISS is a college of low par and basically for NGO management and all and basically for freshers,so guess you shud have the idea on how much max salary dey can offer ...I guess you shud have done dat minimum research b4 applying to the institute...if you have not done dat even, I am sorry to say ...but I do not think u r even fit for MBA...and telling of backdoor entries it exists everywhere and good B schhols too like SIBM...instead of accusing professors first try to refine yourself...there are certain parameters on judging a candidate and they are experienced people to judge you...or else dey wud have said the same thing to 1000 other odd candidates....and morever it mite not be for rejection you it mite be just another parameter to judge ur confidence and convincing skills.
Everyone has their own limitations and personal preferences of why dey want to do an MBA,and dis way you are demoralizing the candidates yet to face their GD/PI process...if you are a Tata/Ambani and a Harvard/IIM wala compete with those of dat level and den you will come to know about your standard.
Dere is a saying in bengali..."Bash bon e sheyal raja" It seems to be the perfect case wit you...:nono:

Anyways I had my PM interview on 21st
GD topic was :"The wheel is turning round and round"
It was a complete fish market due to one gal who was not letting anyone speak and was cutting everyone with her vies of politics and corruption.
Next in my PI nothing much was asked
1.Introduce yourself
2.Why MBA?Why HR?
3.What is performance? How it can be measured?
4.There were a few situation based questions...like suppose you are assigned a work 2 b completed within 30 mins but you do it by 20 mins how wud you rate your performance etc.
5.Is having HR Dept necessary for every organisation?
6.Where are you from?
All the best to everyone who are still to appear for GD/PI 😛

do XISS also have the same lines as TISS ?!!!!! 😛

@kish2009
Sure thing, you have all the power.

However, I was not being abusive just being truthful which of course never counts to douche bags like you who cannot think anything beyond their double standards. I had high expectations from the institute and sitting there figuring out what really happens here, I concluded what I've said.

And about my experience, sonny boy, I've seen many two timers like you in my life, and I don't even give a bloody damn to morons like you. I've attended board meetings and met influential people who have ability to invest millions, and my stake is enough to buy lousy retards like you. So shut your bloody mouth, and stay with your bloody whore, son of a bloody gun.

Stay happy with your STATISTICAL SALARY REPORT & enjoy the great institute. Boofhead.

And to all the people here.
I've not been trying to demoralize anyone on any ground. If you support a political party and the other one find loop holes then the you and your party would question the one finding the ambiguity.

I don't question no one in here. Please do apply to the institute if you believe its worth spending two years, and of course if you find any of my findings wrong/fault, then please discriminate and question my post.

At some point I made a plan to spend two years in this institution as this was related to crafting people from ground level. No high flyer. Hence, I dig in a lot of information about the institution the director, the previous director, their degrees, faculty's exposure and so on. Initially, I was happy to see a 50yr old institution with a very low course fee and providing opportunity to the people who need it specially the underprivileged.

But after spending hours at the institute, looking at the administration, getting some facts about seats being sold, and even the ringing from the faculty, I felt extremely bad to see my findings as sand castle. This in turn provoked me to post my experience and disgust in here, as I've been in here for a while.

I see myself being entertained well till the time I was encouraging everyone to apply and even to expect from the institute. However, when I turned negative and questioned the institute's working, I can see the negative reaction on large.

I don't have any reason to prove myself in here. And I know my help is not required, not at all from a stranger to a stranger. So, if this could be a public statement then I would like to apologize to everyone who has felt bad about the post, however, I stick to my findings and I'm sure none of them is wrong. I might have been more negative, but that's just general.

By this I put an end to my stride in here. Moderators are free to BAN me, and scumbags like the one above are free to dwindle and rattle as much as they want, I'm outta here.

p.s. Thank You

@anamika8004
Thanks for the check. I will keep a check on staying within my circle and also it's good on you that you said that what kind of people I should compete with. I've been a looser wasting my time this way.

evn i had d interview on 20th for PM n the same GD topic as well...............wonder if we were in the same group.

anyway, do u hav any idea as to whn wil d results b out?

Mine was also on 20th...I was in the first group

hello everyone...i just had a small dilemma..actually i had applied for all the five courses of this insti...had been shortlisted for all five and all my interviews were scheduled on 14th of april...i winded up all my interviews and gds in the same day itself...but in each of the panel i was asked abt a common question as to how many courses i had applied for..i very truly admitted that i had applied for all the five courses..wondering would this cast a negative impression on the panel..plzz someone reply..i am extremely tensed....and could this become the point of my rejection...hey anyone any idea...and is anyone out here sharing the same problem....plzz reply....

had my gd/pi on the 22nd . . .
topic for gd was "economic freedom and not old-time theories will lead to growth and prosperity" . . . had a farely good gd . . . then we were made to sit in a gallery for a little while till my name was called and i went in . . . some of the questions in pi were :
1. tell us about your educational background and your family
2. what is excise duty?
3. what is import duty?
4. what is ammortisation?
5. what is debt security?
6. what is standard cost?
7. which other colleges did you apply to?
when i answered all of these questions, i was asked why dont i go for finance since i appeared to be good at it ? . . . gave them my reasons for opting for pm . . . the next set of questions were asked by a pm expert who started out by saying, "Okay, let me test your suitability for hr" . . . he asked me the following :
1. what qualities do you have which make you believe you'll be a good personnel manager?
2. what work do you think you will be doing as a " personnel manager " in an organisation?
3. what is the difference between human resource management and personnel management?
I think he was satisfied with the answers i gave him . . . he then said, "very good mr. vaibhav, thanks a lot for coming all the way from lucknow" . . . he then asked me by which train i had come, where was i putting up in ranchi, and when did i plan to leave? . . . he then thanked me again and i left . . .
so much for my gd/pi experience . . .

my findings about the gd/pi process, the city of ranchi, and about the institute itself . . .
1.the competition is really very stiff . . . there are only 37 seats and 1260 people have been called for them . . . even a combination of a good score, good gd/pi and a good academic record does not guarantee you a seat . . . only a few lucky ones from the "deserving lot" will get in . . . the others who miss out will simply be "unlucky" coz the number of seats is exceedingly small . . .
2. the interview panelists are very friendly . . . almost everybody had a decent interview . . .
3. the infrastructure is not great, but is fairly okay . . . the campus is not wi-fi enabled; students use data card . . . there are no hostel facilities for boys but you'll find plenty of PGs in ranchi . . . but you cant really expect the world when the fees is that low . . . great place to get into as far as the return on investment is concerned . . .
4. there were three interview panels- one panel focused on case studies relating to pm, another one focussed purely on academics, and i have already narrated to you an account of the doings of what i think was the "most balanced panel" out of the three . . .
5. for those of us who get selected, it'll be a tough grind in ranchi; ranchi does not have any shopping malls, only a few decent market places . . . there is an acute shortage of electricity in the whole of ranchi . . . one stern warning for those kids who are used to living in ACs 24*7:xiss doesnt have air-conditioned class-rooms . . . the food is okay . . . i spent two days here and found good places to eat in ranchi . . . chicken and mutton was awesome but nothing compared to the city i come from i.e. lucknow . . . went to see a movie in "eyeplex"; one of the only two multiplexes here . . . the movie went off 6 times in the middle bcoz of power cuts . . . all in all, it aint going to be easy living and surviving here for the next two years, but you can expect to enjoy the sweet fruit of success, once you complete your education here . . .
ALL THE BEST TO ALL THE XISS ASPIRANTS . . . LET'S HOPE THE BEST ONES AMONG US GET THROUGH! . . .
