HI pallavi & all those who r thinking of joining XISS,

I talked 2 an immediate senior of PM from XISS..
they are presently busy in their summer interns..
newayz,i asked him about faculty,placements,grooming,soft skills n other stuffs..
He said that if you are good you must come,companies visit XISS on a regular basis(17 companies visited last year for PM)..however,%ge wise,he said 60% students were placed last year..prime reason being,the quality of students were not up to the mark of the companies...
FOR PM Vedanta offered highest package of 6.5 lacks last year..placement season starts from november...
faculties in PM are very strict,good & sincere & be prepared for a serious churning schedule,if you r a PM student from XISS..
XISS also invites companies for summer interns...1 more thing which is a pointer to an average overall %age figure is that most of the companies last year were looking for students with 60% marks throughout in their acedemics..

P.S.-I am almost certain to join the institute with a %il of 91.61 in XAT(coz LIBA,IFMR,) ditched me.ALTHOUGH,i hav a few rslts pending/waitlistd,but i doubt i wil chang my decisn now..the above figures are mostly for PM..

Hello every 1 . this is sneha from ranchi itself. working in an FM radio station from past three years. i applied for PM RD n MARKETING.... n got selected for RD n MRKTNG....but i m little confused.... as i am working in a corporate , n according to my knowledge , after RD i will get mostly rural area based job ...i want to knw the percentage of corporate houses came for RD last year........so that i can make up my mind for RD as MRKTNG is not my cup of tea and the placement also is not good.so please can anyone help me wd details .?????:lookround:

i am not a senior,but afaik,the prospects of RD is very good from XISS..i mean you cant demean it...But,i really doubt whether any corporate houses come for placements..but whatever vague idea i had(after talking 2 seniors there),i can you you that various big names(NGOs & sum govt sector typ companies visitd ther...cnt say abt marketing..

as said earlier,since placements r not 100%(mostly coz of lack of quality students,even the students agree that they are not upto the mark & secondly coz of their poor past acedemics record)..if you calculate average salary,the figure will not be impressive...

the pointer to the good thing is that companies visit the college & the bad thing is tht onus is not grabbed by the students..

sorry bro,no ideas of the name of the companiesfor RD..

i dnt knw of the designation you hold in BIG FM,(i guess)...to add to that,RD is something which suits people who are really passionate for it...so,depands on your thought process & ultimate aim....

Your designation really sounds "BIG"":)...
well dont have an exact idea of the hostel fee,but i know a gal studying there...
as per her,she said a total of around 4 lacs is what she has spent in XISS,including the college total fee(1.6 lacs,i guess)..
so,that givs a figure of 2.4 lacs in fooding & lodging...
but,for a place lyk ranchi that sounds big again,,so,i think she must have added of the study tours,books,etc..

Waise,i have proposed to a lot of other colleges,but chances are(80%) that i will be joining XISS...

well megha,
AFAIK,the most coveted course here is PM followed by RD...my friend did applied for marketing this year(he is from ranchi),as he contacted a few seniors out there & told him that its a decent option...
The point is that the whole administrative body of XISS was changed last year in order to help it reach newer heights...
seniors studying there are pretty optimistic about the same..However,on a personal note,weigh your options dear,if you hav better calls,go for them,else.....
