XISS: post your queries here

what kind of attributes they look in people for PM in personal interview ????

One has to have something special in him/her, to qualify for XISS-PM.
The people here in the interview are on a serious look out for people of substance..

''Aisa Chokha banaate hai interview me ki kya bolu''.

Honestly, no intention from my side to scare you..They, in general love to go for stress interview & would love to see you perplexed;)

Try to be confident, like you have never been before...But, you need not go overboard, people here are with very fat ego, so better play safe;)

Brush up your graduation background, why HR, Why XISS, Why you, You are not the right fit, rather the worst fit, How does your inclusion help our institute, You are a total misfit/unworthy of XISS-PM, etc...might be the questions you will have to tackle..

So, Sharpen your saw before cutting the tree guyssss

ALL THE BEST!!!
chalo badia hai ki koi gilla shikwa nahi....

If you want to meet me, just PM me your date of GD/PI, i will give you my contact no. & we'll meet...
But, right now, i am, along with some of my friends (6 from PM) busy in National Games:)...So, you need to PM me beforehand...

CHEERS!!!
See there are various parameters to judge a college. I found a new method to judge XISS. That's why I asked about Bribe I needs to pay. This is my interpretation to judge a college, I know, it is wrong. Obviously you guys will not agree with my interpretation. But it doesn't matter to me.

I want to know everything about this college because I have to make decision to book tickets for ranchi.

So people, Chill. I think you guys are taking me very wrongly.

One more thing, you can add great value to you after joining this institute. ROI is great. It is sharing faculty with XLRI i.e XLRI guys come here to teach. So this is college slightly above average. Infrastructure and Administration needs to be improve (at the moment, it is also below average) but teaching is good. And dont forget ROI.
But taking admission here means you are giving 2 years for an average college and obviously dream for being in top B school will shatter. But for the people who are thinking IBS, amity, KIAMS, ITM pune etc etc, it is obviously is a better choice. (only PM and RM not marketing & finance). I am not comparing.

This is my view, yess there might be objection with my views. But I concluded this after evaluating some premises.

Hello again. See, it is mid feb. I think this is the right time to tell the placement and summer internship scenario of PM RD Marketing n Finance.

"Aspirants are all curious. Keep providing them with Exact facts & figures (& Critical Analyses as well)"

What do you mean by this Red??? Now we are waiting for the comment of yours on the placement scenario. Also tell was placement this year 100 % ?? Waiting for your rply seniors?????

Perspectives, Raghav !

Definitely your frame of reference is very important while making a judgment. Yours is good, i say. & it's a Compliment.

Taking admission in a management institute is a very sensitive decision you're gonna make, so exercise this cautiously.

ROI is good, no doubt. but who told you about the visiting faculties from XLRI?
If there was any such thing, it'd escaped my attention, despite being a regular to classes.
The Course Curricula is great, i say, but Teaching methodology & Delivery mechanism, from a general point of view, is bleak (Read Average, to use an euphemism).

Placements are good though Not 100%. The posts of min2rit are evident of those. So My Comments are not needed. I endorse & vouch for his data.

The Best thing I Like about XISS is My Classmates.
They're a bunch of Brightest Lot who make the atmosphere all Charged-up. Each one of them is an achiever for me, good at one thing of life or the other. Being in the midst of these talented people is quite an experience. The quality of Intake is Superb, take my words. This is one of the reasons responsible for good placements despite a not-so-great delivery. Also, this feeling negates the speculative faults in admissions to an extent.

I don't Object to your views, neither i Intend to do so. In all manner, i respect viewpoints of everyone & am strictly against prejudices of any kind.

Hereby, i'm giving you My views based on premises of Experience & Expectations.

May You Get The Best! Make The Cut! Then Decide...

Actually 2 people told me that XISS has faculty from XLRI . Sorry for spreading wrong information. So my source of information is wrong I see :(

Anyways, I will try to convert the call. And it is very disappointing that the brightest brains in the college do not get justice.
Thanks for your frank opinion.

My advice to all XISS students although I am nobody to advice (don't follow):

Become partner of the college, do everything which is done in Best B schools. Do case studies. And take charge of the authorities. This happens in DU and that's why DU is one of the best university in India.

Don't get offended by my advice.
Please help me maintain my anonymity:)

Okk senior.. It is really nice that you are maintaining anonymity to give frank views without any pressure. Red is also maintaining anonymity just like you. Great.

He..y guys here something useful for all the guys.
In the MBA entrance interview how do I justify my decision to pursue the MBA programme?

When you are asked this for God's sake don't tell the panel that you are looking for a "challenging job in a good firm with lots of money, status and glamour". That is the first answer that most candidates think of. Unfortunately it is the last answer that will get you admission. In the answer to a direct question on this subject you must convey to the interview panel that you have made a rational and informed decision about your career choice and your intended course of higher study. There are broadly six areas which your answer could touch upon :

Career Objectives : You could talk about your career objectives and how the two year MBA programme will help you achieve them. This implies that you have a clear idea of what your career objectives are and how you wish to achieve them. For example you may want to be an entrepreneur and wish to set up your independent enterprise after doing your MBA and then working for a few years in a professionally managed company. You could explain to the panel that the MBA programme will provide you with the necessary inputs to help you run your business enterprise better. But then you must be clear about what the inputs you will receive in the MBA programme are.

Value Addition : That brings us to the second area that your answer should touch upon. What is the value you will add to yourself during your two year study of management. Value addition will essentially be in two forms knowledge and skills. Knowledge of the various areas of management e.g. marketing, finance, systems, HRD etc. and skills of analysis and communication. You will find it useful to talk to a few people who are either doing their MBA or have already done it. They will be able to give you a more detailed idea of what they gained from their MBA.

Background : Remember, there must be no inconsistency between your proposed study of management and your past subject of study or your past work experience. If you have studied commerce in college then management is a natural course of higher studies. If you are an engineer this is a tricky area. You must never say that by pursuing a career in management you will be wasting your engineering degree. Try and say that the MBA course and your engineering degree will help you do your job better in the company that you will join. But then you should be able to justify how your engineering qualification will help.

Opportunities and Rewards : You could also at this stage mention the opportunities that are opening up in organizations for management graduates. Highlight with examples. At the end you may mention that while monetary rewards are not everything they are also important and MBAs do get paid well. You must not mention these reasons as your primary motivators even if that may be the case.
