IIT Guwahati to conduct GATE 2018, Prof G Pugazhenthi to be Chairman
The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Guwahati will be conducting the GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) 2018, the official notification of which will be issued in the first week of August. PaGaLGuY spoke to an official in IIT Guwahati who informed that the details about the examination will be made available on the website soon. “It is confirmed that IIT Guwahati is organising GATE 2018, but the details of the same will be available only after the official notification is out in the first week of August,” said the official. The online application procedure will start on September 1 for GATE 2018. The GATE 2018 will take place on February 3,4 and 10, 11 in different test centres across the country.
Prof. G. Pugazhenthi will be the Chairman of GATE 2018. He is serving as a Chemical Engineering professor in IIT Guwahati since July 2015 and has been a part of the institute since the year 2006 as an assistant professor.
Last year, IIT Roorkee conducted the GATE, which is an all India examination that tests the understanding of engineering and technology subjects of students who seek admission into Master of Engineering/Technology (ME/MTech) courses at various engineering institutes.
Over 9 lakh students applied for the GATE 2017 examination conducted by IIT Roorkee of which only 1.3 lakh qualified. GATE scores are also used by PSUs (Public Service Undertaking) for recruiting candidates in various engineering posts.
GATE 2018 Important Dates
- Beginning of submission of application forms: September 1
- Last date of submission of online application form: October 5
- Last date of requesting change of exam city option: November 17
- Availability of GATE 2018 admit cards: January 5
- Date of examination: February 3, 4, 10 and 11
