To fulfill the eligibility criteria the candidate must have 3 years Diploma in Civil Engineering or graduation degree in Civil Engineering from any Recognized Institute.   1. RRB JE: Civil Engineer in Railway department

Basically, Junior Engineer in Civil Engineering Department of Railways is a supervisor. He is liable for the construction and maintenance of Railway buildings.

-Roles and Responsibilities 

JE in civil engineering department duty includes a jurisdiction (small area) Railway Track. The responsibilities include dealing with main Quarters, Maintenance and Repairs, Creation of Assets etc.

-Salary Structure and Perks (Official)

  1. Pay Scale: Rs. 9300-Rs. 34800.
  2. Grade Pay: 4200.
  3. Initial Pay: Rs. 9300.
  4. Total Rs.13500.
  • An Allowance depends on post which includes:
  1. Transport Allowance 2. House Rent Allowance

Selection Process

The Selection process includes Written Examination. If you cleared Written Examination, it is followed by Document Verification.  Once clearing the Document Verification stage, the candidate appears for the third stage which is Medical Test. After qualifying the medical test candidate is appointed by Indian Railways as junior engineer. 

  1. RRB JE: Electrical Engineer in Railway department

This department is known as one of the important ones among all. There are several posts under this department. Since this department is liable for maintenance it is divided into four branches.

  -General Service(G)

 –Traction Operation (TRO)

 –Traction distribution (TRD)

 –Traction Rolling Stock (TRS)

Role and Responsibility

Electrical engineer in railway department has the responsibility of the maintenance of possessions owned by the Electrical Department in Indian railways.  It includes the development and maintenance of equipment used by the Indian Railway department like traction operation, traction distribution and traction rolling stock.

Salary Structure and Perks

The RRB Junior Engineer Salary Structure is same as JE Civil Engineering Department.

 Selection Process

The Selection criteria include Written Examination, Document Verification and Medical test.

  1. RRB JE: Electronics and Communication Engineering

Junior Engineer is a supervisor in the Telecommunication Department in Railways. Person can be posted under two units namely: Station Units and Production Units.

Roles and Responsibilities

Safe Installation and maintenance of equipment.

Submission of proposals for Revenue and Works Budget.

Salary Structure and Other Perks

The Salary Structure of JE for Electronics and Communication department is same as Civil Engineering Department.

Selection Process

The Selection Process includes Written Examination, Document Verification and Medical Test.

  1. RRB Junior Engineer: Mechanical Engineering

Mechanical Engineering Department in Indian Railways has the responsibility of manufacturing and maintenance of carriage and locomotives. According to the responsibility there are several posts under Mechanical Engineering as well.

-Jr. Engineer (Mechanical) (Workshop)

Jr. Engineer Mechanical

Jr. Engineer Carriage & Wagon

Jr. Engineer / Diesel Mechanical

 Jr. Engineer J&T (Jig & Tools)

Jr. Engineer (Drawing & Design) Mechanical

Roles and Responsibilities

 The duties of Mechanical Workshop Engineer are to create vehicle which move on track.

Salary Structure and Perks 

The salary structure of JE for Mechanical Department is same as Civil Engineering Department.

Selection Process

The Selection Process includes Written Examination, Document Verification and Medical Test.

  1. RRB Junior Engineer: Information and technology Engineering

This department is liable for the policy framing and IT related issues of the Railways. The departments only have one post under it which is junior engineer for IT. IT person is the responsible for the daily updates on the Internet. Other duty includes Procurement of IT Hardware, Software and Office Equipment.  The selection procedure and salary structure is same for all departments. The salary increases according to the promotion and designation you achieve in future.
