About College

Indian Institute of Information Technology Tiruchirappalli was established in  2013. Under the rule of the then Chief Minister Jayalalithaa, Central government decided to establish the institute in Srirangam. That’s why the institute is also known as IIIT Srirangam. The Anna University mentored the IIIT Trichy.

The institute commenced in the campus of Bharathidasan Institute of Technology (BIT) but changed to the National Institute of Technology on 22nd March 2016.

Indian Institute of Information Technology, also known as IIIT Trichy has been approved by the government as the Institute of National Importance. Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) has also approved this institute.

There are many courses offered at IIIT Tiruchirapalli on academic levels of undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The subjects available in these courses include Computer Science and Engineering, Database Systems, Electronics and Communication Engineering etc. IIIT Trichy MBA will be provided by the institute in future.

IIIT Trichy rankings could not make its place in the top rankings like the other IIITs, as it was established just a few years ago.

Dr Narasimha Sarma NVS is the director of the institute. IIIT Trichy has 10 faculty members who shape the lives of many students. These dedicated and ambitious faculty members have many years of teaching experience which enables them to make students understand even the toughest topics.

The faculty of the institute plays a major role in the institute’s success. four departments in the institute are the Department of Training and Placement, Humanities and Sciences, Electronics and Communication Engineering and Computer Science and Engineering.
